Promise Keepers Summer Appeal Newsletter 2016

Support innovation and growth in 2017 The Men’s Ministry leader stood up in front of 60 of his men and said, “I got it wrong! Promise Keepers was great and I have been missing out for all these years. I got so much out of it - I wasn’t expecting that!” Although he was involved in one of the PK Electives this year, this leader said he had never had a lot of time for Promise Keepers. In fact he had never actually been to an Event as he didn’t really see the point, to be quite frank!

Promise Keepers is doing more and more to help build Men’s Ministries in churches. The team sees this as vital to building a sustainable network of ministry that really empowers men to grow spiritually and to build genuine friendships. An additional $20,000 is needed to launch into next year on a strong basis. Right now the team is prayerfully planning for 2017. We are also exploring exciting options for additional opportunities in the coming year.

January is always one of our most challenging months for donations with the summer slowdown and people’s personal finances in recovery mode after Christmas. That’s why we are trying to raise $20,000 now – to put money into new areas AND offset the reduced funding over summer.

Please help Promise Keepers be even more effective in 2017 by donating now. Contact us to donate – ph: 0800 PROMISE (77 66 47) or visit our website for options: www.promisekeepers.org.nz/donate

Your support changes lives This spring, Dave gave a significant gift to Promise Keepers. He knows that it takes changed men to change and grow the Church. After years of involvement in Promise Keepers, he recognises what PK is doing now to bring hope and transformation. Dave has a real evangelist’s heart and he also wants to see a generation of younger men have a vision for their future as men of God. Dave believes Promise Keepers is a key organisation making a real difference in New Zealand. That’s why he is so keen to be part of what we do. Promise Keepers needs more men like Dave.

From Porn to Purpose Finding freedom with Promise Keepers

A small group of total strangers sat looking nervously at each other and the group leader. Tonight was the first night of the Conquer men’s pornography recovery group at Promise Keepers. Although they had chosen to be there, there was definite anxiousness in the air. Being a pioneer always takes a little more courage! Five months later the same men are standing giving testimony at the pornography Elective at Promise Keepers Auckland – testifying to the goodness of God and the strength they have found in each other. So what has changed over those five months? What has led to this miraculous transformation from isolated, beaten porn addicts to connected, resilient men who are porn-free and looking to the future with vision and hope? The answer is simpler than you might think. They have addressed the issues that are common to men in the 21st century: isolation and loneliness, the need to selfmedicate problems and hurts and finally, the lack of purpose and mission. These men have become part of Promise Keepers’ effort to bring freedom to more men in our community, in your community. They are intentionally taking ground from the enemy on their battlefield. Your support helped this happen.
