about us
CIES Global is a management innovative non-profit organization, with the expertise to provide specialized medical services in mobile and mobilizable units of healthcare. When the gastroenterologist Roberto Kikawa founded the organization in 2008, he started to fulfill a promise made to his father, who, in his death bed, asked his son to become a dedicated doctor, someone who would look people in the eyes and help with the prevention of diseases. In its 10 years of activities, CIES Global has benefited patients in several states of Brazil, with projects such as the Health Truck (mobile units of healthcare facilities) and different public policies. Today, it is expanding its continuous treatment locations in the states of SĂŁo Paulo (country side and capital) and Santa Catarina in Brazil, in the state of Georgia in the USA, and it is preparing to give assistance to neighboring countries in, South America, and Nigeria. 5
mission To meet the need of integral health of the human being with quality, technology, and agility in the concept of treating, educating and preventing.

founder’s message Dear friends, After overcoming the challenges brought forth by the previous year, 2017 was the year of expansion. I saw CIES go through moments that demanded greatly from all professionals involved so that opportunities could be embraced. Opportunities for which we fought with great dedication to fulfill our mission of taking comprehensive health services with quality in the concept of treating, educating and preventing. Once more, the Love DNA was present and it ensured the results that overcame our expectations. The main results are shown in the following pages of this report. I make a point of highlighting some of them here.

Already in March, we started the first program of itinerant mobile units with medical specialties in Brazil. In partnership with the Government of the city of São Paulo, the Doutor Saúde (Doctor Health) program has treated more than 25 thousand people in its nine months of activity in 2017. . The access to specialist doctors with the purpose of prevention benefits patients from the SUS (Brazil’s unified health system) in the areas where they live, maintaining constant healthcare, avoiding great distances to be covered and much time spent. New cities in the countryside of the state of São Paulo received our team to reduce the waiting time in lines for appointments, exams, and surgeries.
Once more, the DNA of Love was present and ensured the results that overcame our expectations. In the city of Sorocaba, 12,042 patients were seen and treated; in the city of Rio Claro, 2,779 citizens were benefited; in the city of Santa Bårbara d’Oeste, we brought health for 2,728 people who needed our service. . All these accomplishments required a qualified team that also monitored the expansion. And I am grateful for this team. The year ended with 238 employees from CIES Global, 65 service providers, and 163 partner doctors. At the end of a year with so many activities, we were already preparing to celebrate the 10 years of the organization. But this and many other accomplishments will be told in the 2018 edition. God bless us all and until next time. Roberto Kunimassa Kikawa

CIES starts to receive the support of institutions such as Sitawi Finance for Good, a social organization of public interest to provide financial solutions for businesses with social impact. 12
Creation of the Van da Saúde (Health Van), a mobile unit that allowed the access to mountainous areas.
2012 Roberto Kikawa receives the Doutor Cidadão (Citizen Doctor) award, from the Associação Paulista de Medicina (Medical Association of São Paulo). Creation of the Box da Saúde (Health Box): a mobilizable unit built with a structure of containers that are used in activities that require more time of action from CIES at that site.
2013 Start of the Hora Certa MĂłvel (Mobile Scheduled Services) program. CIES establishes a partnership with the Government of the city of SĂŁo Paulo and starts to provide continuous services to patients from the SUS, especially for those that need diagnostic exams and low to medium complexity surgeries in the arenas built with different types of mobile and mobilizable units from CIES.
2016 Launch of the new brand of the organization: CIES Global, that lives up to the fact that the organization stopped being a project to become something long-lasting. In addition to being easier to memorize, the new name also facilitates the internationalization of the NGO. Start of the Preventive Medical Program (PMP) in Atlanta (USA), in a Health Truck. The PMP aims at empowering patients with information about their current health condition and their predisposition for future diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases.

we're open to innovations !
Doutor Saúde (Doctor Health)
With a bold proposal that values prevention, we started the Doutor Saúde program in 2017. In this program, the mobile units known as Health Trucks are equipped to offer specialized medical treatment in all areas of the city of São Paulo. The units work taking turns periodically, allowing the population to be seen and treated continuously and with less commute time. In addition to specialized appointments and exams in the truck, all patients receive guidance about their current health condition and predisposition for non-communicable chronic diseases, such as diabetes and arterial hypertension, through the Preventive Medical Program.
!
Challenges
Another highlight of the Doutor Saúde program is that it allowed us to expand the line of care from the model of service from CIES Global to patients in the SUS in the city of São Paulo. This was only possible because we managed to overcome the challenges of a change in the city's office. The results of the Hora Certa Móvel, implemented in 2013, showed that the CIES system, besides being viable, deserved the support for expansion. 22
Innovation is part of the purpose of CIES Global. It is in our mission. An organization can only overcome obstacles and be sustainable and socially responsible in the world today with innovative ideas, planning, and processes.
!
Technology
Innovation is a thought that passes through all contexts and that is also reflected in the technology; While searching for the best mobile service possible for our patients, we implemented the Stop and Go system - in partnership with Fleximedical and Vicky - which makes the movement of the units even easier. The first application happened in the Elderly's Health mobile unit, launched in November by the Doutor Saúde program. In this application, there is a hydraulic system that lifts and lowers the closed structure safely, doing such with a wireless remote control that controls the four pistons of the box.
Therefore, there is no more need to use a mobile crane to lift the unit to the vehicle that will transport it and to place it on the ground. A simple truck and with lower costs, like a small moving truck, can be used to move the unit. The side doors are also opened electronically, minimizing the labor and risk of accidents.
“This technology ensures faster installation and removal of the container. Therefore, CIES maintains its characteristic of providing health services in any community. The system also allows a reduction of time and costs with renting equipment. And the resource can be used to improve the service offered to our patients or investments in new units, for example", explained the Innovation Coordinator of CIES Global, Jorge Abud. e Abud.
23
prevention is the best option The Preventive Medical Program (PMP), developed by CIES Global, focuses on empowering patients so they can monitor and manage their own health.
?
How
At the PMP, the patients pass through a circuit of exams, such as visual acuity, blood glucose level, blood pressure measurement, and others, that allow the assessment of the current health condition and the prediction of risks of diseases that the patient may have in the following years.
?
Why
The program focuses on decreasing the rate of deaths rate in the world (68%*) caused by non-communicable chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases (heart and blood vessels), respiratory diseases, cancer, and diabetes. *World Health Organization (WHO). 2016. 24

Where
The PMP also provides for CIES Global a great amount of data that can be used for studies with the purpose of improving the quality of life of people from all over the world and decrease the number of deaths by non-communicable chronic diseases.
Today, the Preventive Medical Program benefits patients from the SUS that are referred to the units of the Doutor Saúde program, in the city of São Paulo. An out-of-pocket appointment with an accessible price is also available at the CIES Global practice at Vila Carrão, eastern São Paulo. In the United States, the Health Truck goes around the city of Marietta and area, in the state of Georgia, also offering the PMP to all American citizens and immigrants that wish to monitor their health condition in a quick and effective manner.
