Getting to know Portugal we learned that… It’s total area is 92.000 square kilometres and that it has 10.707.924 inhabitants. It is situated at the west side of the

Iberian Peninsula in the southwest of Europe. It shares borders with Spain in the northeast, and it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the southwest. The archipelagos of Azores and Madeira also belong to Portugal.


The official language of the country is

Portuguese. They use the euro.  The colours of the flag are green , red and yellow.


We visited the town of Faro.


The school we visited is in Olhao .


Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal.


An other significant city of Portugal is Porto.


We got to know some famous sights‌.

Music  Fado. It is the kind of music spotted back in the 1840’s.

Both the music and the lyrics, which usually talk about the sea and the life of the poor are melancholic.  The most popular kinds of music today are: Dance, rock, pop, house, hip hop.


Portuguese cuisine: ď‚— The Portuguese are a maritime nation and they usually

prefer eating fish, vegetables and olive oil. They cook the cod-fish in 365 different ways. There is always a bowl of soup on their table. A traditional Portuguese dish we tasted is the cataplana.
