Chad’s Market Update Let’s Start A Conversation About San Diego Real Estate

Well, San Diego, we navigated a fascinating market in 2023! Interest rates were a rollercoaster, starting the year at 5.99%, peaking at 8% and settling around 6.5% by year’s end. While that slowed things down from the frenzy of the spring market, it also brought welcome balance to prices for buyers. Lower rates often pave the way for sustained growth, and that’s exactly what I’m predicting for 2024 as we anticipate rates to be in the low 6% range and possibly lower if the economy cools off. Buyers are getting re-energized by the lower rates, and sellers are more willing to enter the market and give up their current low rate loan if the mortgage rate jump to their new home isn’t too shocking. I believe 2024 will be a more active year with more transactions than 2023 as 2023 represented one of the lowest # of transaction years in the last two decades. A NEW MURAL HAS JOINED THE SKYLINE OF POINT LOMA! THE POINT LOMA ASSOCIATION (PLA) gifted their neighborhood a new mural by artist Sarah Stieber. *Sky’s The Limit* is about lifting one another up to paint your dreams into reality. It is thrilling to activate communities with art, and to create work for everyone to enjoy. The artist, Sarah Stieber, commented, “I loved conceptualizing this uplifting site-specific artwork that features an airplane flying towards the airport and honors the special Portuguese influence within the Point Loma community.” The unveiling took place on January 13th at the Monsaraz Hotel in Point Loma. Approximately 50 people gathered to celebrate the addition of this mural to the community. The Point Loma Association gifted its first mural at the U.P.S.E.S. Portuguese Hall. Special thanks to Otay Sales who donated the aerial lift to allow Sarah to work her artistic magic and the Monsaraz Hotel for providing the wall and hosting the post party sparkling wine to celebrate.
