Introduction

Faced with the major challenges of our time, the fashion industry is committed to reducing its environmental footprint. Thanks to manufacturing processes that integrate innovation, circularity, traceability and sustainability, the growing commitment of industry professionals has led to the implementation of concrete solutions to build a more ethical and respectful fashion industry.

Season after season, the eco-responsible offering of Première Vision exhibitors continues to be enriched by these new solutions and technical innovations. A richness that today demands greater clarity and transparency. So, to better understand this multi-faceted offer, Première Vision is launching ‘a better way’, a new programme based on 5 essential criteria.

Social initiatives, impact of production sites, traceability, sustainability, products composition and end-of-life, this allnew white paper reveals the secrets of this innovative system for analyzing the responsible initiatives of Première Vision exhibitors, to be deployed from July 2023 on the Première Vision Paris show.

A new step has been taken, and we are particularly pleased to support the sector in its environmentally responsible transition with the new PV programme, ‘a better way’.

This initiative, which we’ve been working on for over a year, aims to simplify buyers day-to-day work and help guide them, while decoding and promoting the real advances made by the textile industry and its investments in favor of more sustainable fashion.

290 manufacturers are already eligible for this programme. -

Editorial

The fashion world is undergoing a major metamorphosis in response to a variety of demands for greater efficiency on environmental and social issues. These demands come from changing regulations, the importance of its impact on climate, water and biodiversity, the social practices of some of its players, the measurement of medium- and long-term risks, the demands of customers and even employees, several NGOs, a growing demand for transparency and, finally, a civic-minded attitude.

Changes need to be made throughout the value chain, from the production of raw materials to the end of the product’s life. And for them to be effective and relevant, they require new forms of exchange between the various players, based on concrete, robust data. It’s a tough, long-term job, requiring cooperation between different types of expertise and different professions.

To help with this transformation, several hundred labels and certifications have emerged. Some are “real” labels based on scientific criteria, recognized by various stakeholders and requiring full auditing by external third parties, while others are purely marketing-oriented.

Première Vision, at the crossroads of brands and suppliers, has a very special role to play in this transition. Both to help brands in their choice of materials, components, manufacturers and therefore suppliers, and to showcase exhibitors who have embarked on this mutation towards more sustainable fashion in every sense of the word.

That’s what ‘a better way’ is all about.
