ARTS & CRAFTS JEWELRY MAKING TECHNIQUES COLD CONNECTIONS

BEGINNING DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY

with Marty Rose Springer, owner of Writing With Light, teacher for 13 years. In this fun, hands-on introduction to digital photography, we will work to understand the camera’s menus and modes, metering, focusing, filters, the flash, light, color and basic composition which will prepare us for portraiture, night shooting and printing activities in class. This class covers basic photographic concepts to enhance hands on knowledge of the camera and computer. Also included is a one hour private printing workshop the weekend of 5/19 (Spring), 7/28 (Summer). Bring your camera, instructional manual, fully charged battery and extra batteries to the first class. Lab Fee: $40 to instructor at 1st class. with Gayton Arrigotti, Moss Beach Artworks You will gain a large overview of basic metal working techniques in this class. We will work with sterling silver, copper, brass, and nickel silver metals. Sawing, filing, and drilling, polishing, riveting soldering and stone setting techniques will be demonstrated as we go along. Tools will be supplied. The class will be set up in a workshop mode and will meet each Thursday with a one weekend workshop to be decided at the first class. You must have completed Marty’s beginning digital photography class to enroll in this class.

This is a useful skill for many jewelry makers, whether hobbyists or professionals, because it is inexpensive, and a relatively easy technique which provides a method of creating jewelry pieces with multiple dimensions without soldering. The design will be a project piece for the purpose of learning the skills taught. with Lori Stoia Learn how to make your own candles using natural waxes such as soy and beeswax, which are better for you and the environment. Topics will also include the basics of candle making from materials to burn times. All techniques learned in this class will make great gifts, to keep for yourself or to sell. Each student will make and take home a container candle, rolled beeswax candle votive candles and a handout on how to make their own candles at home. Lab Fee: $20 (cash) payable to the instructor.
