Meet our Performing Arts Team! Rebecca Hall began dancing at the age of 13, studying Jazz, Modern, and Ballet. She earned her B.S. in Dance Pedagogy from the University of Idaho. Rebecca has experience studying and performing with notable artists in the NW and nationally. She brings her knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology and artistic talents to the classes she teaches.

Bayley Johnson has had a passion for dance since she was three-years-old. Classically trained in ballet and jazz, she broadened her focus in college at The University of Montana where she studied improvisation, hip-hop, and ethnic dance. She enjoys taking class as often as she can and is excited to share her love of dance with others. She has been teaching for Peninsula Park Community Center for two years and hopes to continue the tradition for years to come.

Adam Brock graduated with a BM in Jazz Performance from PSU in 2011. He’s been teaching guitar and piano lessons for 5 years, and loves showing students how exciting and fun music making is! Adam’s music has been featured on releases by local record label Tender Loving Empire (Radiation City, Typhoon). Adam was selected as a national finalist in the 2013 New Song Contest out of 2,000 entries and received the highest score for emerging artist from the editors of the Deli Magazine. He also has a little ditty that will be accompanying a commercial in the 2014 Super Bowl!

Carlos Lasuncet moved to North Portland from Los Angeles in 2007. He brought with him years of music experience from working in recording studios and performance venues. He is a dedicated educator, working at Open Meadow Middle School as a science and music teacher. He enjoys any opportunity to share his knowledge and lifelong passion for music with children, and hopes to inspire young students to learn how to express themselves though music.

Marissa Manza began teaching at Peninsula Park Community Center this Fall and has been a welcome addition to the team. She will graduate this May with a degree and license in elementary and special education. Originally from Tacoma, Washington, she started dancing when she was three years old and continued to dance in the areas of ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary through college. Marissa was part of the Tacoma YMCA dance company and was a dance instructor at the YMCA for five years before moving to Portland. Dancing is one of her biggest passions, and she loves to share that passion with others through teaching. Sandy Shaner has been a director, choreographer, performer and more for over 35 years. She has produced and directed for the Oregon Symphony, as well as been the Artistic Director for the former “Peanut Gallery Theatre”. After receiving training at Portland State University and Portland Community College, Sandy has taught dance, theatre, and infant classes throughout the Portland-Metro area. She continues her education at PSU as a Psychology Major and plans to continue her love of the arts after completing her degree. 25 Peninsula Park Community Center
