Show Update I FTI RE Club Host the First Bio-Energy Pavilion at Renewable Energy Asia 2013 The recent rapid global economic and industrial development, coupled with strong population growth, has lead to an ever larger increase in energy consumption. In fact it is now estimated that major energy sources may soon be depleted, perhaps in as little as ten years. As a result many countries are now urgently looking at renewable sources – especially ASEAN countries such as Thailand. Renewable Energy Asia 2013, one of the region’s leading environmental exhibitions, will display the very latest environmental energy conservation technology. The show will also feature a special conference on International Renewable Energy entitled, “New Opportunities in the ASEAN Community Focusing on Renewable Energy & Energy Sufficiency”. The presentation will be delivered at Renewable Energy Asia 2013 in Bangkok on the 5th of June 2013 and will include presentations from experts in the renewable energy field.
Bio-Energy Pavilion to Present latest Bio-Energy Technology at Renewable Energy Asia 2013 The Bio Energy Pavilion is being run with the cooperation of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI). This is the first time that technological innovations in
bio energy have been presented to the public and it’s the perfect opportunity for businesses and entrepreneurs to learn of the exciting opportunities in this rapidly growing area. Mr.Phichai Tinsuntisook, Chairman of the Renewable Industry Club, said that renewable energy sources such as wind, solar energy, bio-fuel and biomass will be on display at the Pavilion. However there is considerable lead time associated with these systems which may lead investors to look into the development of biomass which is made from agricultural leftovers that can be processed into energy very quickly. As Thailand is an agricultural country this readily available green energy source has obvious advantages. The 5 categories of bio-energy that are currently developed in Thailand are as follows…
1. Biomass – made from raw materials and leftovers from farming sectors. This source has strong government support,
2. Biogas – produced from wastewater and waste-matter from agricultural processes. It generates alternative energy in the form of heat and electricity.
5. Biodiesel – replaces diesel fuel because it is made from vegetable oils or animal fat instead of palm oil. Palm planting is not popular in Thailand, so there is low usage of biodiesel made from this source and opportunity in the new procedure. All 5 types of energies make attractive investments for both public and private sectors. The Thai government also strongly supports production via their Alternative Energy Development Plan: AEDP 2012 – 2021 which aims to develop Mr.Phichai Tinsuntisook renewable energy as a Chairman of the Renewable Industry Club major energy source throughout the country. These programs will also benefit Thailand’s standing in the ASEAN free trade zone due to begin in 2015. As a leader in the field, Thailand aims to become energy self-sufficient as soon as possible.
3. Waste-To-Energy – made through processing garbage that is converted into electricity through biomass& biogas technology.
4. Ethanol – produced by blending agricultural products and combining with benzene to produce gasohol - a petrol substitute.
In addition to the Bio Energy Pavilion, the One-Stop Renewable Energy Clinic has been created for everyone interested in the development and application of 21st Century renewable energy. The Clinic is a key destination for renewable energy business and investors should be sure to visit this important site which will also hold seminars about renewable energy and its industrial applications in a rapidly changing world.
