Designindia was founded in 2002. It was started as a platform for interaction for the design community in India and abroad. Over the years it has grown into a forum spread over many social and professional networking domains, linking design professionals into an active, interactive and thought leading community.
Why Confusion is good? Design is the only profession in the world that creates clarity out of confusion. Keep in mind, however, that confusion for designers is not the same as confusion for other people. A non-designer will be irritated with confusion, not knowing what to do, and perhaps push whatever illogical solution he can think of. He will not know how to deal with confusion. Designers, on the other hand, are trained to deal with confusion and are capable of breaking the confusion into smaller pieces and workable directions or scenarios. They are trained to observe and look for clues; their faculties of investigating and building scenarios get heightened. They can make sense out of confusion in many different ways and choose the best. They can also communicate the right way by using their skills, and align all other confused people to move in a specific direction. We all understand that I am talking about what is popularly known as ‘design thinking’. We also know how it is shining light not just on creating new products but also solving organizational and social problems. Every design project needs to start with confusion and the process takes you to clarity. Every design project also provides a moment of spiritual bliss when the clarity comes. That explains the spiritual luster on the face of many designers. Yoga and meditation have the same purpose, but they provide clarity only to the one who does yoga. Design provides clarity for managements, companies, organizations, communities and countries. Sudhir

CANNES LIONS
Courageous, world-changing creativity was honored at the recently held Cannes Lions Awards Show 2018
The world’s leading creative talent made its way to the French Riviera last month to watch the best among them being feted at the 65th Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. The final Awards Show honored winners who demonstrated the power of creativity to change behaviors and minds and showcased creatively excellent work for brands and businesses that drives growth, impacts culture and creates a fairer world. Chosen from among thousands of entries across genres, the winners did their countries proud, taking home Gold, Silver or Bronze Lions. India made its presence felt too! In the Creative Effectiveness Lions, the Grand Prix went to ‘Savlon Healthy Hands Chalk Sticks’, by Ogilvy Mumbai, India, for ITC, described by the jury as an authentic cause collaboration that drove results. Piyush and Prasoon Pandey were honored with this year’s Lion of St. Mark award for outstanding contributions to the creative industry. Leading lights from various creative fields took to the stage to receive honors in other categories that included the Film Lions; Glass: The Lion for Change; Sustainable Development Goals Lions; and Titanium Lions. Special awards were also presented to Agency of the Year; Network of the Year; Independent Agency of the Year; Holding Company of the Year; Creative Marketer of the Year; the Palme d’Or for the most awarded production company; the Cannes Lion Heart Award; and the Grand Prix for Good. As Director, Museum of Goa, Subodh Kerkar is taking art out of intimidating settings and making it more accessible to a greater number of people
How did ‘Museum of Goa’ come about? SK: I realized that in a country with a population of 135 crore, not more than a 100,000 people connect with contemporary art. The rest feel that contemporary art is not for them, especially since most of the exhibitions take place in five star premises. Some years ago I sold the first house I constructed for a substantial amount of money. All my friends advised me that at the age of 55 I should just keep the money in the bank and live happily ever after, but I wanted to create a museum! Everybody wanted to 32 POOL #96
