MAMA’S PIZZA IS BACK! North Fulton’s longtime favorite pizzeria Mama’s Pizza has opened the doors of its new Alpharetta location, providing customers with an expanded dining room, bar area, outdoor patio seating, and of course, their much-loved authentic New York-style pizza. In addition to the savory pizza, calzones, strombolis and hot subs that the locallyowned restaurant has become famous for, the new location at 5950 North Point Parkway offers an expanded selection of salads, appetizers and an Italian hot dog: two all-beef hot dogs piled high with green peppers, onions, potato fries and spicy mustard, served on a hoagie roll. Owner Jimmy Vavaroutsos and his father Peter opened the original Mama’s Pizza in 1979 inside the Roswell Mall, and have been serving metro area pizza aficionados from various locations ever since. At Parc Alpharetta, a Waterton residential community, a group of senior citizens are taking the “active adult living” concept to an entirely new level. The creative individuals were already meeting regularly for craft projects, so last spring, they decided to use their talents to serve a greater purpose. The result is the community’s inaugural Holiday Bazaar, a benefit for the Grady Foundation ACT Team, which provides comprehensive, community-based psychiatric treatment, rehabilitation and support to persons with serious and persistent mental illness. On Nov. 9, just in time for the holiday shopping season, the bazaar will feature one-of-a-kind gift items handmade by Parc Alpharetta residents, such as holiday wreaths, pillows, afghans, painted décor, children’s items, baked goods and more, plus a special “secret” area for kids to shop for the adults in their lives. 1000 Fanfare Way, Alpharetta, parcalpharetta.com
