the Enumclaw Police Department are teaming up to give a presentation about teen drug use at the Enumclaw High School commons Tuesday, April 26 at 6 p.m.

Weather There’s a chance of thunderstorms on Wednesday with a high near 69, dropping to 45 at night. Thursday and Friday are not nearly as exciting with only chances of rain and highs in the low 60s and lows in the low 40s. Saturday and Sunday also expect rain with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low 40s.

Getting our beam back

Black Diamond City Council power struggle continues

A year has passed since the Bonney Lake community witnessed one of the most tragic events in city history. On April 13, 2015, the Ellis family was driving under state Route 410 on Angeline Road when a concrete barrier fell off the overpass, killing Josh, Vanessa and eight-month old Hudson instantly. The barrier fell while construction crews were working to widen the overpass for pedestrians. Since that day, many events were set in motion, including the removal of subcontractors from the project, filing a wrongful

death suit for the remaining members of the Ellis family and fining several of the companies involved in the project. The city has tentatively planned to announce the project’s completion during the May 10 council meeting.

Council attempts to fire city attorney, questions city’s legal status to pay bills before council approval

Within minutes of Mayor Carol Benson bringing down the gavel, the council descended into confusion over the correct agenda for the meeting. Councilwoman Pat Pepper introduced a resolution to switch the night’s agenda with one approved by herself

as council president and Mayor Pro Tempore Erika Morgan, citing section 2.2 of the new council rules and procedures passed during the Jan. 21, 2016 meeting. After the resolution was read, Benson said the revised agenda was not received by the city until almost 11 p.m. the night before. Council members Janie Edelman and Tamie Deady also said
