family of South Kitsap. The 2014 Heritage Families will be honored during the Fourth annual Heritage Family Banquet on Sept. 18 at Kiana Lodge in Suquamish. Leonard Forsman, chairman of the Suquamish Tribe, will be the keynote speaker at the banquet. KIRO Radio 97.3 Anchor Frank Shiers will emcee the evening. The five families are noted for having roots in the area for 100 years or more, and have made significant contributions to the community over the generations. The families also still have members living in Kitsap. “It’s an event where the

community nominates five Kitsap families, that are 100-year or more families,” Bradley said. “Five families are chosen and we celebrate their lives and community contributions.” Bradley said the historical society accepts nominations for heritage families from the public over the year. The banquet is open to the public. Reservations can be made by calling 360-479-6226 or emailing info@kitsaphistory.org. Further information about the dinner can be found online at www.kitsaphistory.org. Proceeds benefit the museum.
