Bainbridge Roller Hockey skates into divisional playoffs BY LUCIANO MARANO Bainbridge Island Review

A multi-divisional daylong tournament kicked off what will be the climax of another season of summer roller hockey on Bainbridge Island Saturday, July 26 at Battle Point Park. There, the Bainbridge Roller Hockey League held matches between teams throughout its three agebased divisions to decide the lineup for playoffs, which began Wednesday. Season championships are slated to be held at Battle Point Park beginning with the D1 consolation match at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. All American honors for Marx in lacrosse BAINBRIDGE - Sallie Marx, a standout player on this year’s Spartans girls lacrosse team, has been named a US Lacrosse High School All American. Marx was a senior midfielder on this year’s team at Bainbridge High. She was one of 17 prep lacrosse players in Washington state to earn honors this year as a US Lacrosse High School All American. Nine boys and 80 girls from 12 high schools in Seattle, Snohomish, Auburn, Bainbridge Island and the Eastside were named to the national honor including second-year recipients Colin MacIlvennie (Eastside Catholic), Chase York (Mercer Island) and Camille Sullivan (Interlake). Marx was the lone Kitsap area

resident selected for the national award. She has committed to play NCAA Division III lacrosse at Pomona-Pitzer Colleges in Claremont, California. In recent years Washington state high school lacrosse student-athletes have increasingly been recognized on the national stage with 15 state preps tapped for All America honors in 2013 and 14 selected in 2012, according to the US Lacrosse – Washington State Chapter. Historically, a total of 74 boys and 48 girls from Washington state high schools have been named US Lacrosse All Americans.

Four runners come up big at Monday’s meet MEMORIAL STADIUM - Rowan Schick, AJ Stevens, Madison Stevens, Hannah Gray and Camden Brown each claimed a win in four separate events at Monday’s Kiwanis All-Comers Track Meet at Bainbridge High School.
