Children will practice their critical thinking skills while having fun and parents will get tips on how to turn everyday activities into a learning experience. Each week features a different topic. VIP, the Bainbridge Island Visually Impaired Persons support group, will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Bainbridge Public Library. Sue Barrington, manager of the Waterfront Park Community Center, will give an update on the new programs and events upcoming at the senior center. ‘Great Expectations’ onscreen The Island Film Group will meet for a movie at 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 14 at the Bainbridge Public Library. The group meets on the second Wednesday of the month for free films and discussion. This month’s film: “Great

Expectations.” The Universal Pictures drama from 1946 was directed by David Lean, and stars John Mills and Valerie Hobson. A humble orphan suddenly becomes a gentleman with the help of an unknown benefactor.
