Habitat looking for women for May 3 On May 3, Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County will host a one-day Women Build celebration for National Women Build Week. Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County is looking for local women to volunteer for a day at the Harris Court Construction Site in Port Orchard. Construction or home improvement experience is not necessary. The event brings women from all walks of life together to learn construction skills and

then use those skills to build simple, decent affordable houses. On a national level, women will be pounding nails and raising walls at Habitat for Humanity construction sites across the country in recognition of National Women Build Week, which is May 3 through May 10. The event, now in its seventh year, has drawn more than 40,000 female volunteers from all 50 states. The Mother’s Day time frame was selected for its significance to many volunteers, as families with children make up those in need of adequate housing. To volunteer or donate to this project, contact Habitat for Humanity of Kitsap County at 360-479-3853 or visit www. kitsaphabitat.org.
