Friday, April 4 ART WALK: The City of Bremerton will host the F i r s t Friday Art Walk from 5-8 p.m. at Fourth Street and Pacific Avenue and the Manette area. There will be two performing art stages, numerous fine arts galleries, unique shops, eateries, clubs featuring jazz and other live music. Take a short walk across the Manette Bridge to enjoy more art, shopping, dining and entertainment opportunities.

Saturday, April 5 FARMERS MARKET: The Port Orchard Farmers Market will open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be farm produce, flowers, food vendors and crafters. The market will be located on Harrison Avenue, between Amy’s on the Bay and Marina Park, behind Peninsula Feed Store. ART WALK: The Port Orchard Bay Street Association is hosting its First Saturday Art Walk is 2-5 p.m. in downtown. The theme is “Being a Kid Again.” Join artists and downtown merchants on the first Saturday of each month, April through November. More than 30 artists are expected to show their work inside and outside of businesses along Bay Street, up Sidney Avenue and down Harrison Streets. Some artists will actually be demonstrating their art. ANTIQUE SHOW: The Kitsap Antique Show is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the President’s Hall at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds. Admission is $5 per person and an appraisal fee of $5 per item. Sunday’s hours are 10 a.m.to 4 p.m. and ticket prices are the same. Parking is free. PADDLERS CUP AND EXPO: The third annual Gig Harbor Paddlers Cup and Expo will be based at Skansie Brothers Park and Jerisich Dock in the heart of historic downtown.The event will run throughout the day with vendors and booths set up in the park while the races are taking place. The Expo in the park is an opportunity to try out equipment, view new boats and learn more about paddling sports. Sunday, April 13 FOLK MUSIC: The Olalla Community Club’s Second Sunday Music Series continues with a salute to springtime with popular Poulsbo folk duo Hank Payne and Claire Favro. Paper and Clay will open the show. The concert is set for 2 p.m. at the Olalla Community Hall, 12970 Olalla Valley Road. Suggested donation for the concert is $15 for adults and $10 for children 10-and-under. Tickets are available at Al’s Store in Olalla, All-star Guitar in Gig Harbor and at the door.

Saturday, April 19 EASTER EGG HUNT: The 22nd annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Park, hosted by Fathoms o’ Fun, is set for noon at the South Kitsap Regional Park Playground. Last year, more than 450 children participated in the event. OPEN HOUSE: An Open House and Snapshot Day is set from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Manchester Library, 8067 E. Main St. There will be free coffee and cake. HOBO STEW: The Port Orchard Eagles will host the second annual Hobo Stew Contest. Judging begins at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6 p.m. Contestants are asked to bring their favorite recipes. There will be a raffle and prizes. Cost is $7 for salad, roll and dessert. Trophies will be presented for first, second and third place, as well as for best costume. All proceeds benefit the Fisher House Foundation. Kiwanis honored Students of the Month for March. Each month the Kiwanis Club honors outstanding junior high and high school students. The students are nominated by teachers and administrators at each school and invited to a catered lunch with their family.

Couple to celebrates 50th wedding anniversary Whitney and Susan Vergason will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, April 5. The couple was married in 1964 in Tacoma and have lived in the Port Orchard and Bremerton area for the past 50 years. Whitney retired from the Manchester Fuel Depot after 20 years and worked 10 years at

the Puget Sound Na v a l Shipyard. S u s a n worked ser veral years as a Whitney and Susan Vergason caregiver. T h e couple has two daughters, Peggy Jo Sehureman and Wendy Vergason, along with three grandchildren.
