Belle Davis Belle Davis, age 89, of Oak Harbor, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at her home. Belle was born on May 11, 1924, in LaVeta, Colo. Belle is survived by her four children, eight grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. A memorial service is set for 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at the Oak Harbor Southern Baptist Church, Pastor Lemuel Villano officiating. Family has requested in lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Belle Davis to the Southern Baptist Church, 50 S.W. Sixth Ave., Oak Harbor, WA 98277. Melvin G. Sanders Melvin G. Sanders, 81, of Oak Harbor, passed away, Friday, Dec. 13, 2013. He was born in Rensselaer, Ind., Dec. 22, 1931 to Roy and Ada Sanders. He was married to Charleen Rutledge June 3, 1956. He is survived by his wife Charleen, his children Louis Sanders, Melvin D. and Diana Sanders, and Jennifer and Nick Thompson; 11 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. He was greeted in Heaven by his daughter, Marcia, his parents and his siblings.

TUESDAY, JAN. 7 At 8:23 p.m., a S. Harrington Lagoon Road resident reported that an unoccupied Ford truck filled with TVs was parked in her driveway. At 10:15 p.m., a Pioneer Park Place resident reported that her boyfriend won’t let her in. At 6:08 a.m., a caller reported that a woman who showed up at the entrance of the Island County jail claimed she had been poisoned with cyanide. At 9:10 a.m., a trombone, sheet music and vehicle registration were reported stolen from a car on Highway 20. At 9:27 a.m., a Moran Road resident reported that some kind of fluids, possibly blood, were left behind on his property following a car accident. At 9:57 a.m., a caller reported an explosion and lone flash south of Heller Road.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 8 At 11:11 a.m., a Larkspur Circle woman reported that her husband punched holes in the walls the night before. At 2:19 p.m., a caller reported finding a bomb with a wick while walking on the beach off N. Sunset Drive. At 3:49 p.m., a woman on E. Frostad Road reported that her husband was outside shooting farm animals. The woman, who was crying, said he bought a shotgun and started just killing their animals. At 4:26 p.m., a Hastings Road resident reported that a package was stolen from his mailbox before Christmas. At 8:41 p.m., a Pilchuck Drive resident reported that people came to her house and told her “things.” One person grabbed her and another threatened to hit her.

THURSDAY, JAN. 9 At 12:51 a.m., a Dusty Lane resident reported hearing someone walking on gravel outside his home.

MONDAY, JAN. 13 At 2:41 a.m., a Cranes Landing Drive resident reported that a man at her home has an ax and was threatening to hit himself with it. At 7:51 a.m., there was a report that someone broke into a Penn Cove Water and Sewage facility on Scenic Heights Road. At 7:56 a.m., a suspicious person was reported in the bushes on Evergreen Street. At 2:02 p.m., a Bell Beach Road

resident reported that a suspicious woman, possibly on meth, was wandering the area and “seemed very interested” in the caller’s garage. At 2:11 p.m., a woman reported that an aggressive man’s aggressive dog attacked her pooch at the dog park on Ault Field Road. The woman said she used a carbon dioxide “disciplinary piece” to separate the dogs and the man became aggressive towards her. At 4:25 p.m., a caller reported that a woman was completely naked and running around the Whitney Drive area, screaming that she’s on crystal meth and “congola.” The woman hit the caller’s car. At 10:53 p.m., a Classic Road resident reported that a man was outside “yelling strange things” and making “weird sounds.”

TUESDAY, JAN. 14 At 8:44 a.m., a man reported being confronted by three aggressive pit bulls on Homestead Road while bringing children to the bus. At 11:49 a.m., a Zylstra Road resident reported that a Rottweiler and Chihuahua were running around loose. She said the dogs have a history of attacking her chickens. At 1:24 p.m., a caller reported that a loose Doberman and a smaller dog chased her in the Fort Nugent Road area. At 1:44 p.m., a Wellman Place resident reported being hit in the head by his girlfriend. He was bleeding from the head. At 5:29 p.m., a caller reported that a deer was licking a dead fawn on the side of Jones Road. The caller was concerned the deer might get hit. At 9:01 p.m., a caller reported seeing a man jump into the brush on Custer Street.

WEDNESDAY, JAN. 15 At 4:40 p.m., a caller reported seeing a man in a mechanic’s jumpsuit attacking a young woman on the side of Highway 525 near Gramayre Road. At 8:22 p.m., a Penn Cove Road resident reported someone came to the door wearing a mask.

THURSDAY, JAN. 16 At 6:48 a.m., a caller reported that someone stole a camera from Pit Road. The theft was caught on tape. The following items were selected from reports made to the Oak Harbor Police Department:

FRIDAY, JAN. 17 At 9:18 a.m., a caller reported a rabbit appears to have been hit by a vehicle.

At 11:58 a.m., a caller reported a car was side-swiped on Southwest McCrohan Street. At 2:21 p.m., a caller reported someone stole mail from a Southwest Thornberry Drive location. At 2:25 p.m., a caller reported a Great Dane running loose near the intersection of Northwest Dory Drive and Northwest Illahee Drive. At 3:55 p.m., a caller reported a man passed out in his vehicle on Goldfinch Street. At 4:31 p.m., a caller reported residents at a Northwest Crosby Avenue house are opening his girlfriend’s mail. At 5:14 p.m., a Northwest 10th Court resident reported her estranged boyfriend was throwing things around. At 7:15 p.m., a Northwest Almond Loop resident reported a man came to the door trying to sell a carpet cleaning service. At 8:45 p.m., a caller reported two men fighting in a Highway 20 parking lot.

SATURDAY, JAN. 18 At 12:14 a.m., a caller reported his father was punching him at a Northwest Ninth Place home. At 9:03 a.m., North Oak Harbor resident reported someone stole a bike, piece by piece, over the past few days. At 10:57 a.m., a caller reported someone removed the lug nuts from a car parked at a Northeast Barron Drive location. At 11:34 a.m., a caller reported someone trespassing at a Northeast Midway Boulevard location. At 3:11 p.m., a caller reported a woman who was supposed to be watching his kids was “blasted off her butt.” The woman is now accusing him of raping her. At 3:50 p.m., a caller reported someone burglarized an Easy Street home. At 6:02 p.m., a caller reported a woman was screaming “scientology whore” at a Southwest Barlow Street location. The caller believed she possibly had been drinking.

SUNDAY, JAN. 19 At 10:36 a.m., a caller reported seeing a raccoon running in the area of Southwest Eighth Avenue. At 1:34 p.m., a caller reported seeing two men hit another man at a Southwest Barlow Street location.

MONDAY, JAN. 20 At 7:12 a.m., a caller reported a man tried to rob him at a Northeast 10th Avenue location. At 8:27 a.m., a caller reported a Highway 20 house had been egged and feces placed on the door handles.
