POLAR BEAR PLUNGE, 5K RUN: The first Resolution 5K Run and Polar Bear Plunge will happen Jan. 1

at Windjammer Park in Oak Harbor. The run along the waterfront will start at 11 a.m., followed by a plunge into the lagoon at noon. Joe Blackburn gears up for the New Year at the fireworks stand run by the Knights of Columbus on the corner of Highway 20 and S.E. Pioneer Way in Oak Harbor. The Knights of Columbus Council 3361 of Oak Harbor is a Catholic fraternal benefit society and is raising money for charity through the stand. This is Blackburn’s third year helping sell fireworks for the charity. The organization has sold fireworks for four years. “This is our first-ever New Year’s Eve sale, so we’ll see how it goes,” Blackburn said.
