Christmas play at WWCA The Western Washington Center for the Art’s production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” is slated for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, each weekend through Dec. 21. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 5 p.m. Sunday. Jan Peterson Ewen is the play’s director. The play is about a couple struggling to put on a church Christmas pageant who is faced with casting the Herdman kids — probably the most awful kids in history. Little Doves Children’s Learning Center’s Holiday Bazaar is set for Friday and Saturday, Nov. 29 and 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Spirit of Life Lutheran Church, 3901 SE Mullenix Road. More than 20 vendors are planning to attend. Admission is free and there will be live music and children’s activities. There will also be a potato bar with all the fixings. Jingle Jam Whiskey Gulch Coffee Co. will host the second annual Jingle Jam on Saturday, Nov. 30, from 5-11 p.m. The event will help Team Annapolis Fitness raise money for the Arthritis Foundation through the Port Orchard Jingle Bell Run/Walk. There will be live music by local artists, along with food and beverages. Cost is $5 at the door and 100 percent of the proceeds will go to the Arthritis Foundation.

Breakfast with Santa Breakfast with Santa, a fundraiser to support the Fathoms o’ Fun Scholarship Program, is set for 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Port Orchard Eagles Hall, 4001 Jackson Ave. Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children ages 5-12, and free for children under 5. A family packet for two adults plus four children, or four adults is $20. Receive $1 off each ticket by donating a can of food to South Kitsap Helpline. The breakfast will include pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, juice, coffee or tea. Pictures with Santa will be available, along with a children’s craft area, and raffle for wreaths and other gift items.

Astronomical society The Olympic Astronomical Society is set to meet Monday, Dec. 2. at Olympic College Room Art 103 from 7:30-9:30pm. Featured presentations are “How to Observe Open Star Clusters” and “The Constellations Taurus and Sculptor.” A video entitled “Cosmic Collisions” will also be shown. There will be a break for refreshments and discussion. The program is suitable for all ages and experience levels. The OAS is a group of people interested in Amateur Astronomy. Visitors are welcome. Navy band to perform

Church bake sale Nativity exhibit The Jesus Christ Church of Latter-Day Saints, 3877 Mullenix Road, will host the seventh annual Port Orchard Nativity Exhibit on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7. It is a family friendly display of over 500 nativities gathered from around the world. Sacred Art Gallery features framed art from the life of Christ. There is also a children’s nativity craft, story time and nativity dress up room, scavenger hunt and Christmas caroling sing-along. A live re-enactment and reading of the Christmas story will take place every 30 minutes starting at 5 p.m. There will also be live musical performances by local schools, choirs and musicians. Admission is free and hours are 9 a.m. to 9.p.m.

Winter bazaar St. Gabriel Catholic Church will host a “Winter Bazaar” on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 6-8 at the church, 1150 Mitchell Ave., Port Orchard. There will be handcrafted items and paper crafts. There will be gift baskets, silent auction and children’s gift bags for $5, along with baked goods, used toys and Christmas items. Admission is free. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9-11 a.m. and 12-4 p.m. Sunday. All proceeds will help needy individuals in the community.

The women of Faith Lutheran Community Church will hold its annual Bake Sale and Craft Show on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free. Christmas fundraising concert South Kitsap Helpline will host a Christmas fundraising concert “Make A Joyful Noise” at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, at the Christian Life Center, 1780 SE Lincoln Ave., featuring “Breath of Aire” — a Pacific Northwest choir. Holiday bazaar The Central Valley Garden Club’s Annual Bazaar and Wreath Sale is Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, at the Community Hall, 10200 Central Valley Rd, Bremerton. Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday. There will be decorated handmade wreaths from fresh, locally grown greens, floral arrangements, handcrafted items and a wide variety of baked goods. Our profits support many organizations within Kitsap County including an annual scholarship to a high school senior.

Downtown festival The Festival of Chimes and Lights is 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, in Port Orchard. Be dazzled with all the lights including the giant Christmas tree in front of City Hall, the decorated boats in the harbor and all the shops lit up along the way. The tree lighting is at 6 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive on a fire truck, hay rides run throughout, choirs sing, pets compete in the Pooch n’ Purr Parade and families are entertained with activities including crafts and stories in the library. Included is the third annual Jingle Bell Run/Walk, a benefit for the Arthritis Foundation, with costumed participants ranging from the serious runner to friends chatting as they stroll the 5K route.

Decorated boat contest The 39th annual Decorated Boat Contest and Christmas Lane is set for Friday and Saturday, Dec. 6 and 7, at the Port Orchard Guest Marina.The event, hosted by the Sinclair Inlet Yacht Club and Port of Bremerton-Port Orchard Marina, is part of the annual Festival of Chimes and Lights in downtown Port Orchard. There will be free moorage for all decorated boats. Awards will be presented for the People’s Choice, Most Creative, Best Attended Yacht Club and Who Came the Greatest Distance? Voting begins at 6 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. Saturday. The awards

Benefit for family An “hometown holiday benefit” is set for the DeSmet family from 4-9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13, at the Port Orchard Pavilion. Kai DeSmet is at the Ronald McDonald House in Seattle and is undergoing treatment for his cancer at a Seattle hospital. He is suffering from a desmoplastic small round cell tumor. More than 30 vendors, raffles and free pictures with Santa and a silent auction are planned. All proceeds from the silent auction and raffle going to the DeSmet family.

Christmas bazaar The Port Orchard Eagles will host the annual Ladies Auxiliary Christmas Bazaar on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13 and 14. The bazaar is 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Tables are $20 each for members and $25 for non-members, and covers the cost for both days. Admission is free.The Eagles Hall is located at 4001 Jackson Ave.
