Network awards WV youth A West Vancouver student was named the first prize winner in the A&E Lives That Make a Difference Essay Contest. According to a press release from the network, Kiera Schuller, a Grade 12 student at West Vancouver secondary received $2,000 for her essay on Malala Yousafzai. Schuller was awarded in the grades 9 to 12 category and her essay describes the impact Yousafzai’s story had on her and the rest of Canada. In addition to her cash prize, Schuller’s teacher will receive $1,000 for use in the classroom. The annual A&E Lives That Make a Difference Essay Contest invites Canadian students in grades 5 to 12 to write a 300-word essay based on someone they think has made an important impact on Canadian society in the past year.
