Rain stopped and all the umbrellas came down just minutes into Sunday night’s Christmas festivities at Osprey Village in Pitt Meadows. The fifth annual tree lighting event, which has grown through the years into more of an overall community festival and a seasonal tradition for many locals, attracted about 250 people despite inclement weather, said Anahi English. “On average, we have this number for our events, so it was wonderful to see the same amount on a rainy night. member of the Pitt Meadows Community Association, and an event organizer. We lit up almost all the trees in the village, created candy cane light posts, and put in a tree that we will be able to build on every year... so it will keep growing and growing!” she explained. The plan is to add more lights to the village each year, ultimately making it into a “must see” destination during the holiday season. In the meantime, English said, the existing lights are “beautiful” and encouraged people to drop by for a look. Christmas-themed cutouts are being left up around Osprey Village this month, so people can have their pictures taken.
