Upon my retirement at age 65 in 1992, a hiking companion urged me to volunteer as a counsellor at the 411 Seniors Centre (at 411 Dunsmuir at that time). My working career had been spent as a psychiatric social worker, so counselling was my forté. I stepped into the 411 and spent 19
years counselling needy seniors. If you have a special interest, pursue it in your golden years. If you’d like to volunteer in some capacity and so brighten your life, try contacting the Vancouver Volunteer Centre at 1183 Melville St., 604875-9144. Good luck!
