Guitar festival Feb. 16 The Fraser Valley Acoustic Guitar Festival is coming to Langley Feb. 16. The 16th annual concert will take place at Kwantlen Polytechnic University’s Langley campus auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Don Ross, the only twotime winner of the U.S. National Fingerstyle Guitar Championship, will headline the evening with special guests Victor Kolstee (flamenco guitarist) and Paul Pigat (rockabilly guitarist). This is a great chance to hear world-class artists in your own backyard without the big city ticket prices. Tickets are $20/advance ($30 at the door) for adults and $15/advance ($25 at the door) for students and seniors. For tickets visit

Arty Awards coming Arty Awards nominations will close on March 1. Nomination forms and information can be found at www. abbotsfordartscouncil.org. The ninth annual Arty Awards will take place on Apr il 12 at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium in Abbotsford. There will also be a catered reception, entertainment and silent auction.

The boutique showcases original, handcrafted artwork of local artists in multimedia, such as jewelry, pottery, sculpture, woodwork, fibrewearable items, paintings, photography and more. Accepted artists will be featured in the Kariton boutique until the summer of 2013. Submissions will be accepted in person from Feb. 13 – 17 at the Kariton Art Gallery, 2387 Ware St., Abbotsford. Open mic at City Blends

Feb. 15, 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. there is an open mic at City Blends Coffee and Tea House, 109 - 32423 Lougheed Highway, Mission. This week will feature Jeff Lord and Jonah Weisner. Murder Mystery

Feb. 16, the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and Actors Unlimited present The Lust Boat murder mystery. All proceeds go to charity.
