WHAT MOTIVATED YOU TO BECOME A PITTSBURGH PENGUINS SEASON TICKET HOLDER? My uncle used to take me to the Penguins games in the 70’s and I enjoyed the sport so much, I wanted to go every chance I got. As soon as I graduated college and could afford season tickets, I jumped on the chance. WITH WHOM DO YOU ATTEND PENGUINS HOME GAMES? My daughter, friends and co-workers. WHAT TEAM IS YOUR FAVORITE PENGUINS OPPONENT AND WHY? In the 70’s, it was St. Louis and the Plager brothers — they always had knock down and drag out battles! In the 90’s, it was Boston. I will never forget the playoff battles — Neely and Ulf! What a war every game! HAVE YOU EVER ATTENDED A PENGUINS AWAY GAME? IF SO, WHERE? Yes, the old Boston Garden three times, the old Maple Leaf Gardens, both Washington Capitals venues and the San Jose Shark Tank. continued on page 6

In the 70’s, it was watching the Pronovost/ Apps/MacDonald line along with Bob ‘Battleship’ Kelly and Tom, his daughter Shannen and wife Liz. Steve Durbano and in the 80’s into the 90’s, the Mario years. Every game could turn out to be a highlight reel…and usually did. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING TO WEAR OR BRING TO A PITTSBURGH PENGUINS GAME? Usually one of my Penguins jerseys (Mario, Sid, Geno or Fleury). DO YOU PLAY HOCKEY? Not anymore, but we used to play pickup games in high school and college. There were many late nights at the Mt. Lebo rink and lots of street hockey under the street lights in the 70’s. AS A PITTSBURGH PENGUINS SEASON TICKET HOLDER, WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVORITE PROMOTIONAL GIVEAWAY AND/OR EVENT? I loved being able to attend the drafts hosted by the Penguins. At one draft, I was able to get autographs of Orr, both Espositos and Ken Dryden — very cool! In the 80’s, section E4 had a great group of eight season ticket holders that sat together during tough seasons! I also enjoyed watching Bob ‘Battleship’ Kelly and Steve Durbano enter the Civic Arena after the trade that brought them to Pittsburgh to make the Penguins a tougher team in the 70’s.

THE SERIES [VS] SENATORS

The Penguins and Ottawa Senators meet here tonight for the first time this season. Last season, Pittsburgh went 1-1-1 against Ottawa, including a 2-1 overtime victory here on Feb. 3 (James Neal 1:55) and a 3-2 shootout loss here on April 13, the final day of the regular season. The Penguins were outscored, 9-4, in the three-game series against Ottawa last season. . . Pittsburgh is 4-1-1 in its last six games against the Senators, three of which were decided after regulation . . . The Penguins are 5-1-1 in their last seven home games against Ottawa. . . This is the fifth time Ottawa has played an afternoon game here, and the Senators have won three of the previous four such games. Pittsburgh won the last one, 2-1, on Nov. 26, 2010. . . Ottawa has scored first in four of the last six games here and eight of the last 13 games overall between the teams. . . Their next game is Feb. 12 in Ottawa, and their final meeting is April 7 in Ottawa, as this is the only Senatorsâ&#x20AC;&#x2122; appearance in Pittsburgh this season. . . None of Pittsburghâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s top four scorers against Ottawa last season are still with the team (Jussi Jokinen, Brian Gibbons, James Neal, Lee Stempniak). Defenseman Erik Karlsson led the Senators with four points (1-3-4) against Pittsburgh last season. . . Evgeni Malkin has 15 goals and 27 points in 26 career games against Ottawa, while Sidney Crosby has six goals and 25 points in 26 career games continued on page 10

against the Senators. Malkin has eight goals in his last eight home games against Ottawa, while Crosby has two goals and nine points in his last five home games against the Senators. . . Marc-Andre Fleury is 4-1-0 in his last five starts against Ottawa and has won four straight home starts against the Senators since a 4-1 loss on Jan. 28, 2010. . . Pittsburgh is 46-30-9-3 all-time against the Senators, including 24-13-4-3 at home.

THE PENGUINS

This is the first of eight afternoon games for the Penguins this season, six of which will be played here. The next one is here Jan. 18 against the New York Rangers. . . Since the start of the 1991-92 season, Pittsburgh has played 96 home afternoon games, going 54-28-6-8, although the Penguins have lost three of their last four (1-2-1). Each of the last seven home afternoon games have been decided by a single goal (4-2-1). . . Overall, Pittsburgh is 2-4-1 in its last seven afternoon games. . . Right wing Craig Adams was on pace to set the Penguins’ record for consecutive games played today by skating in his 314th straight regular-season game. Ron Schock established the mark of 313 back in April, 1977. Adams’ streak began against the Senators here in Pittsburgh on Oct. 18, 2010 when he replaced Eric Godard in the lineup, and he assisted on a goal by Kris Letang in a 5-2 victory. Only seven other current Penguins were with the team at that point — Fleury, Crosby, Malkin, Martin, Letang, Kunitz and Dupuis . . . Adams has also played in 39 of 40 playoff games since his continued on page 13

streak began, missing Game Four of the 2012 series against Philadelphia because of a league suspension. . . After earning a 3-2 win in Carolina on Nov. 29, the Penguins were 16-5-2 in their first 23 games this season and sitting atop the NHLâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s overall standings. Pittsburgh won 10 games in November, matching the team record. . . Sidney Crosby became the sixth-fastest player to reach 800 career points when he had two assists in a 4-3 overtime win over Toronto here Nov. 26, while MarcAndre Fleury became the third-fastest goaltender to reach 300 career wins in the 3-2 victory at Boston on Nov. 24. . . This game concludes a three-game homestand for the Penguins, who will travel to play the New York Rangers on Monday and then return home to host Calgary on Dec. 12 before playing in Columbus on Dec. 13. The homestand started with games Tuesday against New Jersey and Thursday against Vancouver. . . Pittsburgh is in a stretch of 20 games in which it plays 14 times at home. . . Goaltender Thomas Greiss made his fifth start of the season and moved to 3-1-1 Nov. 29 in that 3-2 road win over the Hurricanes. At that point, he had made all five of his starts on the road.

At Penn State this season, the results have been representative of progress in the third-year NCAA Division I program that’s impossible not to recognize. Progress that head coach Guy Gadowsky saw coming will be on display on Dec. 29-30 at CONSOL Energy Center when the Nittany Lions make their third appearance in the third-annual Three Rivers Classic. “This is the first year we have that continuity,” Gadowsky observed prior to the start of the 2014-15 campaign. “We know where we are. We know who we’re starting with. The basic core of the team is the same. “We’ve been through it with our systems. We’ve been through it against an opponent. We were able to play against the top teams in the nation, including conference games where it’s so important. As a team maturity, we’re way ahead.” Penn State first put a team on a sheet of NCAA Division I ice in 2012-13, the first season the Nittany Lions had a varsity hockey team since playing a three-game schedule in 1946-47. That first attempt at hockey resurrection went 13-14-0 as an Independent playing against Division I opponents while playing a schedule that also included the likes of non-Division I teams from Buffalo State, Fredonia, Neumann, Arizona State, Ohio University and Oklahoma (PSU was 19-16-0 overall). Penn State joined the newly-formed Big Ten Conference last season and finished sixth in a six-team contingent that also included traditional powers Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan and Michigan continued on page 24

The Nittany Lions are even tougher to deal with this season, as evidenced by their 4-2 win at No. 4 Massachusetts-Lowell on Nov. 15, Penn State’s first victory over a Top 5 team in the USCHO.com Top 20. “Compared to last year we are leaps and bounds ahead of where we were,” sophomore goaltender Eamon McAdam told the university’s website, GoPSUsports.com, after backstopping PSU to the victory over UMass-Lowell. “You can see the steps we’ve taken have really turned into results. I think that’s sparking a ton of confidence with the whole team. “It’s only going to make us want to work harder and try even harder for bigger and better things.” Penn State emerged at 7-4-2 (1-1-0-0 in the Big Ten) after a 3-1 loss to Cornell on Nov. 29 at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The Nittany Lions had been led most nights in the early going by the line of sophomore David Goodwin, senior Taylor Holstrom and junior Casey Bailey, a group that played together in 12 of Penn State’s first 13 games and accounted for 44 of Penn State’s first 111 points (18-26—44 and a combined plus/minus rating of plus-8. The roster includes four NHL draft picks, McAdam (third round, 2013, New York Islanders), senior forward Max Gardiner (third round, 2010, St. Louis), senior defenseman and captain Patrick Koudys (fifth round, 2011, Washington) and sophomore defenseman Mike Williamson (sixth round, 2013, Vancouver). Skoff, a McKees Rocks native, started 10 of Penn State’s first 13 games. He’s one of five native Pennsylvanians on the roster. And senior forward Tommy Olczyk, last year’s captain, is the son of former Penguins player, broadcaster and head coach Eddie Olczyk. Penn State is a team that thrives on grit, on playing a grinding, physical game and on shooting the puck from anywhere and everywhere. The Nittany Lions are usually resilient enough to keep coming no matter what the scoreboard says at a given juncture. And their belief in what’s known as “Guy Gadowsky Hockey” in NCAA circles has seemingly been reinforced by this year’s earlyseason success. “We really try to just get as good as we possibly can at our game,” Gadowsky has said. MARIO LEMIEUX CO-OWNER/CHAIRMAN

Mario Lemieux, one of the most respected figures in National Hockey League history, is in his 16th season as co-owner and chairman of the board of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Under the leadership of Lemieux and co-owner Ron Burkle, the Penguins have become one of the premier franchises in the NHL and in all of sports, leading the way in fan relations, youth marketing, community outreach and innovative technology while consistently putting a winning product on the ice — including eight straight playoff appearances, three conference finals appearances in the past seven years and a Stanley Cup championship in 2009. Known as Le Magnifique, Lemieux was one of the greatest players in NHL history from 1984-97 and 2000-06, winning six league scoring titles, three MVP awards and two Conn Smythe Trophies in addition to two Stanley Cups. A gifted 6-foot-4 centerman, he dominated play for parts of three decades despite a relentless series of medical setbacks, including multiple back surgeries and a battle with Hodgkin’s disease. He retired in 2006 as the No. 7 all-time scorer in NHL history with 1,723 points. He also ranked eighth all-time in goals (690) and 10th in assists (1,033). After retiring as a player in 1997, he put together an ownership group to buy the Penguins out of bankruptcy in September, 1999 and then returned to the ice on Dec. 27, 2000 — becoming the first player-owner of the modern era. In addition to his legendary hockey accomplishments, he continues to oversee the Mario Lemieux Foundation for cancer research and neo-natal research and hosts its annual golf tournament, which has raised more than $9 million for charity. Ron Burkle, one of the preeminent investors in technology, retail, manufacturing and distribution industries, is in his 16th season as co-owner of the Penguins. He teamed with Mario Lemieux to buy the team out of bankruptcy in September, 1999, and together they have become one of the outstanding ownership tandems in professional sports. Among Burkle’s many significant contributions to the Penguins was his essential role in negotiations for a new arena. CONSOL Energy Center is considered one of the finest indoor facilities in North America and has attracted many national-level events to Pittsburgh. Under the leadership of Lemieux and Burkle, the Penguins have sold out every game for seven-plus seasons. Jim Rutherford is in his first season as the Penguins GM after being hired on June 6, 2014. Rutherford spent the previous 20 years as GM of the Carolina Hurricanes/Hartford Whalers franchise from 1994-2014 where he was a key architect of the Hurricanes’ 2006 Stanley Cup championship squad and their 2002 Stanley Cup finalist team. In addition to his general manager duties, he also served 20 years as president of Carolina/Hartford, taking the post in 1994. In his role as president/GM, Rutherford oversaw operations on both the hockey and business sides of the organization. He helped spearhead the efforts to bring the 2004 NHL Draft and 2011 NHL All-Star Game to Raleigh. Over the course of his executive career, Rutherford has won multiple awards, including The Hockey News ‘Executive of the Year’ in 2002 and ’06. Additionally, he was voted by his NHL general management peers as Sporting News ‘Executive of the Year’ in 2006. Before his 20 years in the NHL, Rutherford was recognized as the 1987 Canadian Hockey League (CHL) ‘Executive of the Year’, and the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) ‘Executive of the Year’ in back-to-back years with the Windsor Spitfires in 1987 and ’88. He oversaw a Spitfires team that won the OHL championship in 1988 and earned a berth in the Memorial Cup. In addition to his time with Hartford/Carolina, Rutherford also spent over 30 years working with Compuware Sports Corporation, overseeing the purchase of Windsor in 1984 and bringing the first American-based OHL franchise to Detroit in 1989. Rutherford played 13 years as a goaltender in the NHL, appearing in 457 career NHL games with Pittsburgh, Toronto, Los Angeles and Detroit. JASON BOTTERILL ASSOCIATE GENERAL MANAGER

Jason Botterill is in his first season as associate general manager after being promoted from assistant general manager on June 6, 2014. As associate GM, Botterill assists GM Jim Rutherford on all hockey-related matters, including scouting, player development and contract negotiations. He also serves as GM of the Penguins’ top minorleague affiliate, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League (AHL). The WBS Penguins have made the playoffs all five years he has overseen the team, including back-to-back berths in the Eastern Conference Final (2013 and ‘14). Prior to his promotion, Botterill, 38, spent the previous five years as the Penguins assistant GM from 2009-14, and the two years prior to that as the team’s director of hockey administration beginning in 2007-08 where he was a key architect of the Penguins’ 2009 Stanley Cup championship team. Before joining the Penguins, Botterill worked for NHL Central Registry and as a scout for the Dallas Stars. Botterill was drafted by the Dallas Stars in the first round (20th overall) in 1994 NHL Draft and played in 88 NHL games for Dallas, Atlanta, Calgary and Buffalo before his career was cut short due to injury. He also suited up for 393 career minorleague games in the American and International Hockey Leagues, tallying 257 career points. A native of Edmonton who grew up in Winnipeg, Botterill played four years of college hockey at the University of Michigan and helped lead the Wolverines to an NCAA title in 1996. Botterill represented Canada in three straight World Junior Championships from 1994-96, winning gold medals all three years. During the ’94 and ’95 WJCs, Botterill was coached by current Penguins head coach Mike Johnston. Following his playing career, he received his MBA from his alma mater, the University of Michigan.

TOM FITZGERALD ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Tom Fitzgerald is in his first season as assistant general manager after spending the previous five seasons as the Penguins assistant to the GM from 2009-14. Fitzgerald’s duties include monitoring Penguins’ prospects playing in college, junior hockey, Europe and with the club’s American Hockey League affiliate Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Additionally, he advises GM Jim Rutherford on all personnel decisions. Fitzgerald was named interim assistant coach of the Penguins on Feb. 15, 2009 and helped the club win its third Stanley Cup championship four months later. He began his executive career as the Penguins player development coach in 2007-08. Drafted in the first round (17th overall) by the New York Islanders in the 1986 NHL Draft, Fitzgerald played 17 seasons in the NHL, appearing in 1,097 career games where he recorded 329 career points (139G-190A). He has represented his country nationally three times — once with Team USA at the 1987 World Junior Championship and twice in the World Championships (1989, ’91).

BILL GUERIN ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Bill Guerin is in his first season as assistant general manager after serving as Pittsburgh’s player development coach from 2011-14. Guerin’s responsibilities as assistant general manager include serving as a liaison between the players and management. As the Penguins player development coach, Guerin was instrumental in helping develop the Penguins’ minor league, junior and college prospects. Originally drafted by New Jersey in the first round (5th overall) of the 1989 NHL Draft, Guerin won two Stanley Cups (Pittsburgh, 2009; New Jersey, 1995) and spent 18 seasons in the NHL — including his final two with the Penguins. Guerin’s leadership and on-ice performance after being acquired at the NHL trade deadline was a key in Pittsburgh’s ’09 title. Guerin, a four-time NHL All-Star, tallied 429 career goals and 856 points in 1,263 career NHL games, including five 30-goal and two 40-goal seasons. He was elected to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.

Jason Karmanos is in his first season as the vice president of hockey operations after being named to his current position on June 12, 2014. Karmanos assists GM Jim Rutherford in all aspects of hockey operations. Before joining Pittsburgh, Karmanos spent 15 years as an executive for the Carolina Hurricanes from 1998-2013, serving various roles with Carolina, including executive director of hockey operations and vice president/assistant general manager under current Penguins GM Jim Rutherford. Karmanos played four years of college hockey at Harvard University from 1992-96, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors. MIKE JOHNSTON HEAD COACH

Mike Johnston is in his first season as head coach of the Penguins after being named to his position on June 25, 2014. Johnson had spent the past six years as the general manager/head coach of the Portland Winterhawks of the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2008-13, where he helped turn Portland into a Canadian Hockey League powerhouse and perennial contender. Under Johnston’s guidance, Portland made four straight WHL Championship berths (2010-14), winning the WHL championship and earning a Memorial Cup berth in 2012-13. During that time his team won four straight conference championships. Johnston’s teams are known for their offensive prowess — during his six seasons with Portland, his team’s goals for total rose each year from 176 in 2008-09 to a league-leading 338 in ‘13-14. Johnston also served two NHL stints as assistant/associate coach of the Vancouver Canucks (1999-06) and associate coach of the Los Angeles Kings (2006-08). With Johnston’s help, Vancouver made four straight trips to the postseason and won the Northwest Division crown in 2003-04. He has represented his country multiple times internationally, including serving as assistant coach of Canada’s 1998 Olympic Team. As an assistant/associate coach for Team Canada, he has won five medals (2 gold; 2 silver; 1 bronze) at the World Championships and two gold medals at the World Junior Championships. Among the players he has coached with Canada are Jonathan Toews, Ryan Getzlaf, Chris Kunitz, Martin Brodeur, Jarome Iginla, Rob Blake and Martin St. Louis. Johnston has authored three books with former NHL player Ryan Walter: “Simply the Best: Insights and Strategies from Great Hockey Coaches”, “Simply the Best: Players on Performance” and “Hockey Plays and Strategies”. He played college hockey at Brandon University in Manitoba and Acadia University in Nova Scotia and has a Master’s Degree in coaching science from Acadia University. RICK TOCCHET ASSISTANT COACH

Rick Tocchet is in his first season as an assistant coach of the Penguins. Tocchet was hired as an assistant coach by Tampa Bay in July, 2008 and was elevated to interim head coach on Nov. 14 of that year. He was named head coach following the ‘08-09 season, where he remained in that position until 2010. Tocchet began his coaching career as an assistant with the Colorado Avalanche for two years (2002-04) before spending one season (‘05-06) with the Phoenix Coyotes. A veteran of 18 NHL seasons, including parts of three seasons with the Penguins from 1992-94, Tocchet won a Stanley Cup championship with Pittsburgh in 1992. The 4-time NHL All-Star (1989, ‘90, ‘91, ‘93) played 1,144 career NHL games and totaled 440 goals, 952 points and 2,972 penalty minutes in his NHL career. Tocchet was originally drafted by Philadelphia in the sixth round (125th overall) of the 1983 NHL Draft.

GARY AGNEW ASSISTANT COACH

Gary Agnew is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Penguins. Prior to joining Pittsburgh, Agnew was an assistant coach for the St. Louis Blues for two seasons from 2012-14, helping the Blues win the fifth-most games in the NHL during that span (81). Agnew spent four years as an assistant coach of the Columbus Blue Jackets from 2006-10, where he helped the Blue Jackets earn a postseason berth for the first time in franchise history in 2008-09. As head coach of the American Hockey League’s Syracuse Crunch from 2000-06, Agnew won a franchise-record 220 games, and he led Syracuse to its first-ever division title in 2001-02. MIKE BALES GOALTENDING COACH

Mike Bales is in his second season as the Penguins goaltending coach after serving the previous two seasons as the team’s goaltending development coach from 2011-13. Under his guidance, Marc-Andre Fleury won 39 games in 2013-14 and tied his career high by recording five shutouts. Bales was also key to Jeff Zatkoff’s development in his first NHL season where he posted a 12-6-2 record, 2.61 GAA and .912 save percentage. Bales, a native of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, spent 18 seasons playing professionally from 1992-2010, including stints in the NHL with Boston and Ottawa. Bales also saw action with teams in the AHL, IHL, Germany, Sweden and Northern Ireland. He was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the fifth round (105th overall) of the 1990 NHL Draft. Before turning pro, Bales played three collegiate seasons with Ohio State University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) from 1989-92. Travis Williams is in his fourth season as Chief Operating Officer of the Penguins, overseeing finance, legal affairs, technology, business development and arena operations while reporting directly to CEO/President David Morehouse. Williams joined the Penguins in 2008 as Senior Vice President of Business Affairs/General Counsel and oversaw the construction and development of CONSOL Energy Center — bringing the project to completion on time and under budget. He is the organization’s liaison with building manager AEG Facilities and works closely with AEG on all arena-related events and initiatives. In recent years, CONSOL Energy Center has hosted such national events as the 2012 NCAA Men’s Basketball Second and Third Rounds, the 2012 NHL Draft, the 2013 NCAA Frozen Four and the 2014 U.S. Gymnastics Championships. Williams also is the Penguins’ point man on the development of the former Civic Arena site and the construction of the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in Cranberry. Williams graduated from Penn State University and received a Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University, summa cum laude. He lives in Nevillewood with his wife, Nichole, and six children.

David Peart is in his fifth full season as Senior Vice President of Sales and Service, overseeing all local revenue generating departments for the team including business partnerships, corporate sales, premium seating, ticket sales, broadcasting, and concession and merchandise sales strategy. Under his direction, the Penguins created the team’s Founding Partner Program at CONSOL Energy Center and launched one of the most comprehensive fan engagement initiatives in sports. In 2014, Peart was awarded the InStadium Experience Innovation Award presented by Sports and Entertainment Alliance in Technology for his work with the Penguins’ PensPoints loyalty program. Peart has held senior-level positions with the San Francisco 49ers, Houston Texans, Dallas Stars and Texas Rangers. The Kennedy Township native is a graduate of Point Park University, where he is a member of the Board of Trustees. He and his wife, Julie, have two children.

POWER PLAY The Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Highmark will KIDS WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE have completed five more dek hockey rinks for local communities in 2014 as their first-ofits-kind Project Power Play program enters its third year. The new rinks are located in Graham Park in Cranberry Township, Renzie Park in McKeesport, Settlerâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Cabin in Oakdale, North Park in Allison Park and Bloomfield Park in Pittsburgh. Project Power Play is a $2.3 million initiative designed to build 12 dek hockey rinks in Pittsburgh and surrounding communities over a four-year period. Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield is leading the way by providing $1.5 million in funding, with the Penguins Foundation contributing $800,000. The rinks are multi-purpose courts measuring 155 feet by 75 feet. They include a premier dasher board system, scoreboard, player benches covered by metal shelters, a penalty box, goals and start-up dek hockey equipment. Project Power Play was introduced in 2012, with the first two rinks being built in Banksville Park and Lewis Park in Hazelwood. Four more rinks were added in 2013 at Brookline Memorial Park, Hosanna House Sherwood Event Center in Wilkinsburg, Riverside Park in Oakmont and Richland Community Park. The City of Pittsburgh, Allegheny County and surrounding communities are providing the land as well as maintenance services, lighting and additional support. One more rink will be built in 2015, bringing the total to 12.

PENGUINS RADIO NETWORK PLAY-BY-PLAY ANNOUNCER

One of the most unique broadcasters in professional sports, Mike Lange is calling games in his 40th season with the Penguins, handling radio play-by-play on the club’s flagship station, 105.9 FM The X and the Penguins Radio Network. Known for his creative and colorful style, including trademark phrases such as “Buy Sam A Drink And Get His Dog One, Too,” Lange was awarded the Foster Hewitt award by the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001. Lange’s relationship with the Penguins began in 1974-75, when he broke into the NHL as a radio play-by-play man. He left for one season, but returned in 1976-77 and has been a fixture on the Penguins’ scene ever since. Lange did radio exclusively until 1979, when games were simulcast on radio and TV. He served as the television voice of the Penguins through 2005-06, before returning to the radio booth in 2006-07. A native of Sacramento, California, Lange earned a degree in broadcasting from Sacramento State University before starting his career as the voice of the Phoenix Roadrunners (WHL) in 1970. He also served as the play-by-play voice of the San Diego Gulls (WHL) in 1973-74 before joining the Penguins. In addition to his tenure with the Penguins, Lange handled play-by-play duties for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1986-87. A well-known member of the Pittsburgh community, Lange makes numerous personal appearances throughout the year and is actively involved in charity work.

Two-time Stanley Cup Champion Phil Bourque is in his 12th season on the Penguins broadcast team, serving as color commentator alongside Mike Lange. A gritty winger/defenseman, Bourque was signed by Pittsburgh as a free agent in 1982, and went on to record 164 points (75G-89A) in 344 regular-season games with the Penguins between 1983 and 1992. For his career he totaled 199 points (88G-111A) in 477 games with the Penguins, New York Rangers and Ottawa. Since retiring from professional hockey in 2000, Bourque has cohosted Penguins pre- and post-game shows on the Penguins Radio Network and worked as a contributor for ROOT SPORTS’ coverage of Penguins hockey.

After a 17-year career as the Penguins beat writer for the Washington Observer-Reporter, Bob Grove joined the team’s radio broadcasts in 1998 as a frequent studio host/co-host and is now in his seventh season as full-time host of the pre- and post-game broadcasts and intermissions on the Penguins Hockey Network. Grove wrote Pittsburgh Penguins: The Official History of the First 30 Years in 1997 and has contributed game notes to GOAL Magazine inserts or IceTime programs for every Pittsburgh home game since 1986. He was also a contributor to the second edition of Total Hockey and to The Game I’ll Never Forget. He is a senior writer covering hockey for the Pittsburgh Sports Report and also hosts Bob Grove’s Hot Stove on Penguins Radio 24/7.

Steve Kolbe enters his second season with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Kolbe spent 14 seasons (1997-2011) as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Washington Capitals, broadcasting over 1100 games. His voice has been heard internationally on the NHL Network, XM Radio, NHL Radio, and ESPN. Kolbe broadcast the Stanley Cup Finals in 1998 and the NHL Winter Classic in 2011, and he was featured on the NHL Network’s documentary Voices in 2008. A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Kolbe has over 25 years of broadcasting experience, and most recently has been a co-host of the Mid-Atlantic Sports Report on MASN (Mid Atlantic Sports Network) as well as talk show host for Major League Baseball coverage and NHL insider on CBS Radio 105.7 in Baltimore. Kolbe is a 1989 graduate of Michigan State University and earned a B.A. in telecommunications.

The Pittsburgh arena’s reputation for hosting major sporting events will continue. The Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Championship will be contested in CONSOL Energy Center in 2017, the A-10 announced in September. Bernadette V. The cities of Pittsburgh and Philadelphia are both honored to host the second annual NHL Youth Cup December 12-14. The 2014-15 tournament will include one event for each Major birth year (2000, 2002 & 2004) to be hosted by Pittsburgh and one event for each Minor birth year (2001, 2003 & 2005) to be hosted by Philadelphia. The event, presented by DICK’S Sporting Goods, will feature AAA youth hockey programs affiliated with the Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres, New York Rangers, New York Islanders, Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators, Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins. Some of the premiere talent playing at the AAA level will compete again for the start of this wonderful tradition amongst NHL-affiliated hockey programs across North America that will continue to grow from year to year. “We think it was a great opportunity for young players in all six age groups to play in an elite-level tournament with other NHL-affiliated programs so early in the season,” said David Morehouse, CEO and President of the Pittsburgh Penguins. “The Penguins Elite program, with generous support from the NHL, was proud to host three age groups and welcome them to Pittsburgh.” All games in Pittsburgh will be held at RMU Island Sports Center over the weekend. Thanksgiving in Pittsburgh had an eventful hockey weekend as the Ninth Annual Pittsburgh Girls Thanksgiving Classic took place November 28th — November 30th. A total of 69 teams and approximately 1,200 participants were here in Pittsburgh to participate over the holiday break. The classic was played on the Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels, and had age divisions ranging from U10 up to U19s. The reach of this tournament is evident in that 36 of the 69 teams were from Canada. Pittsburgh is quickly becoming a hot bed for hockey and an arena to showcase women’s hockey across the continent. The Pittsburgh Penguins Elite women’s teams had a tremendous weekend. The U10, U12, U16 and U19 age groups all won gold. The U14 team won silver while the U10 (05) lost in the semifinals to the eventual champions. As of December 1st, four Penguins Elite girls teams are ranked nationally according to My Hockey Rankings; U19s (#24), U16s (#14), U14s (#4) and the U12s (#2). The Thanksgiving tournament continues to grow from year to year and is becoming a great holiday tradition in our area. In 2014, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and UPMC Sports Medicine expanded the Heads UP Pittsburgh concussion awareness program to include a free flexibility kit to the first 2,000 participants in the new testing period that began on June 16. KIDS WILL CHANGE THE FUTURE Free cognitive baseline testing was available on a first-come, first-served basis for athletes ages 10-14. For athletes under 10 years of age, a Pediatric version of the test was available at a minimal cost. Community College of Allegheny County once again served as host to testing at its Boyce, North, South and West Hills Center campuses along with UPMC Center for Sports Medicine on the South Side. Community College of Beaver County joined the initiative as a new site for testing and education. The entire testing process takes about one hour. Certified athletic trainers from UPMC Sports Medicine supervise the program and testing. While the athletes are being tested, parents meet with the UPMC Sports Medicine Concussion staff to learn about the Heads UP Pittsburgh program and how to handle concussions if they occur. Heads UP Pittsburgh, the first program of its kind and a blueprint copied by other NHL organizations, began in 2011 with baseline testing and parental education programs for youth hockey players. In 2012, the Penguins Foundation expanded the program to include athletes of all sports ages 10 to 14. Since the programâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s inception, over 13,000 athletes have been tested and over 33,000 people educated. HOCKEY IS FOR

EVERYONE For years Western Pennsylvania youth sports have been dominated by the likes of football, basketball and baseball. Recently however, the region has begun to see a change in preference and participation in sports. Hockey is rapidly becoming the most popular and fastest growing sport in the area. Success seen with the Pittsburgh Penguins on the NHL ice has surely created a demand and a certain excitement around the game, however the popularity of hockey goes well beyond the wins and world class talent the Penguins possess. A genuine love for the game is starting to sweep the area. Kids are beginning to play hockey at younger and younger ages thanks to the Little Penguins: Learn to Play Hockey program. This program will allow 1,000 kids, ages 4-8, to receive free head-to-toe gear all thanks to the support of Sidney Crosby, Reebok and DICKâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S Sporting Goods. Since it began in 2008-09 over 5,200 have been introduced to hockey through this program. The Penguins have also teamed up with the DICKâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;S Sporting Goods, Trib Total Media and the YMCA to create the YMCA Jr. Penguins program which introduces children to the sport through ball hockey. Each year, over 3,100 children participate in organized ball hockey at local YMCAs. Recently the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation and Highmark have partnered together for Project PowerPlay, which will build 12 dek hockey rinks throughout Allegheny County over a threeyear period and allow local residents to play dek hockey for free. Dek hockey is becoming a great way to learn and play hockey without having ice, and was also vital in the development of current Penguins forward Beau Bennett who grew up in sunny California. continued on page 129

In 2014, the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation embarked on a new venture, Tablets in Education. This innovative, new program combined the latest in tablet technology with educational apps and content. With the assistance of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit (AIU3), 60 schools in Allegheny County were selected to participate in the first year of the program; distributing 1,200 Kindle Fire HDX 7 tablets to local schools. Each school enrolled in Tablets in Education received 20 Kindle Fire HDX 7 tablets, a mobile charging station and 20 shock resistant covers. Each device was then loaded with over 50 educational apps, books and specialized content. These apps were carefully selected with the assistance of Common Sense Media and the professionals at the AIU3, providing more than $100,000 worth of content. The devices are designed to be utilized for unique educational programs, extended learning programs and programs for children with disabilities. The technology utilized in Tablets in Education is designed to enhance a childâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s academic achievement while continuing to support their social development and relationships with adults and peers through the most critical years of an adolescentâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s growth and development. A portion of the funding for this new program was made possible by contributions through the EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program. ICEBURGH A delight for children of all ages, Iceburgh — the official mascot of the Pittsburgh Penguins not only provides fans with exciting game entertainment but this large, energetic bird can also be seen at a multitude of community events and elementary schools throughout the greater Pittsburgh area. Iceburgh arrived on the scene in 1992 and is a staple at all team events. During Penguins’ home games, fans most definitely notice the antics of Iceburgh leading sections of fans in cheers, greeting young children on the concourse or displaying his athleticism on-ice between periods. In 1995, Iceburgh made his Hollywood debut, starring alongside Jean Claude Van Damme in the motion picture Sudden Death. He has gained both national and international exposure through film, TV and a variety of personal appearances. Iceburgh wasted no time getting acquainted with his new home at CONSOL Energy Center in September of 2010. You can find Iceburgh sliding down stair banisters, dancing in the stands and tossing t-shirts to fans. Iceburgh has performed in Russia and Japan, was featured in the opening of ESPN’s SportsCenter and recently performed in front of a record crowd of over 68,000 at Heinz Field for the 2011 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic. He is also regularly featured on in-game videos and has appeared in advertisements and television promos on ROOT Sports. In addition to his annual trek to the NHL All-Star Game, Iceburgh makes annual appearances at the Mascot Olympics held in Orlando, FL. In 2014-15, Penguins Elite boys’ teams will range from Squirt Minor through Midget Major, including a U15 team. Girls teams will be offered at 19&U, 16&U, 14&U, 12&U and 10&U age groups. The funding provided by DICK’S Sporting Goods and the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation has reduced player participation fees by nearly 35% annually. In addition, DICK’S Sporting Goods provides FREE game jerseys and socks, practice jerseys and socks, pant shells, warmups and equipment bags to players each season. Players and parents also receive discounts on equipment and team-branded apparel purchased through DICK’S Sporting Goods. Forward • 1st Round, 22nd Overall Kapanen, the son of former NHL player Sami Kapanen, was the No. 1-ranked European prospect entering the 2014 NHL Draft by Central Registry. During the 2013-14 season, he played professionally for KalPa of the Finnish Elite League where he and Sami were teammates. Beyond the Numbers: Both Kasperi and his father were selected in the NHL Draft by current Penguins GM Jim Rutherford. Sami Kapanen was chosen in the fourth round (87th overall) in the 1995 Draft.

Forward • 4th Round, 113th Overall A native of Hollidaysburg, Pa., which is located just outside of Altoona, Lafferty played amateur hockey for the Altoona Trackers of the Pittsburgh Amateur Hockey League (PAHL). A graduate of Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts, Lafferty is currently playing college hockey at Brown University. Simon Despres is coming into his own. He’s doing so in a way, perhaps, that few envisioned. A first-round pick in 2009, Despres was known as a puck mover. As a potential offensive threat from his defense position. Despres, 23, has retained those qualities. But he’s developed an edge, a nastiness that previously hadn’t been at the forefront of Despres’ game. After 21 games, Despres had 40 penalty minutes. Included in that total was a team-high four fights. Despres throws his weight around and gets physically involved. “Last year in the minors at the end of the season, I had some success playing that way,” Despres said. “So I brought that to the way I want to play this season. “I enjoy playing with an edge. You make more room. [Opposing players] don’t want to go in your corner as much. It’s easier to play.” A fringe player until this season, Despres dressed for all but one of the Penguins’ first 22 contests. He had a goal, four assists and a plus-5 mark. Despres was averaging 13:49 of ice time. Despres had also forged a solid partnership with veteran defenseman Rob Scuderi. continued on page 163

“He’s really good positionally,” Despres said. “We talk a lot. We try to make simple plays. We try to be steady defensively. Be reliable.” Scuderi is pleased with Despres’ progress: “Some D are special, they get it at a young age. But for most guys it takes a longer period of time. It’s nice to see [Despres] come around. I think he’s always understood the game, but I think he’s making better decisions and playing really well.” Skating with Scuderi means that Despres plays the right side. Despite being a left-handed shot, Despres doesn’t mind. Despres manned the right side when his Jr. A team, Saint John, won the Memorial Cup in 2011. The Memorial Cup is emblematic of Canadian Jr. A national supremacy. “I played [the right side] a bunch when I was a young guy. The year we won the Memorial Cup, I played the right side,” said Despres, a Quebec native. “I got some tools on the right side. I can play on the right side. I got a one-timer option on the blue line. I got a one-timer pass in the neutral zone, in transition. I’d rather play the right side.” Under previous administration, Despres often got short shrift in Pittsburgh. He spent parts of three seasons with the Penguins, but never played more than 34 games. (That occurred last season, when Despres had five assists and was plus-4). Under new coach Mike Johnston, Despres is getting a legit shot. But the 6-foot-4, 214-pounder isn’t taking anything for granted. “I’ve got to prove it every day,” Despres said. “I’m never comfortable. There are good defensemen in the organization. I’ve got to stay on top of my game.” For Despres, regular opportunity is certainly making consistency a better possibility. “The more games the play, the more confident you are,” Despres said. “The more ice you see, the more you get comfortable on the ice.” Even though Despres has chosen a more basic, aggressive style, that offensive upside is always there. “[Despres has] got a great stride. He can get in the rush if he wants to,” Scuderi said. “Not every defenseman can lead the rush, move the puck. Eddie Johnston knows a thing or two about goaltending. Before transitioning behind the bench and then to the front office, Johnston was an NHL netminder himself. He played in 591 career games, including 11 straight seasons with the Boston Bruins — where he was teammates with the legendary Bobby Orr, Phil Esposito and Johnny Bucyk and won a pair of Stanley Cup championships during the franchise’s heyday. So Johnston knows firsthand what it’s like to not only play in this league, but be successful in it. And he can’t say enough about what Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury has been able to do thus far, both in his career and for this organization. Fleury became the 31st netminder in NHL history to reach 300 wins on Nov. 24 vs. Boston. At 29 years, 361 days, he became the third-fastest and third-youngest netminder to reach that number. Fleury is also the franchise’s leader in wins and shutouts (32). “It’s absolutely amazing what he has done,” Johnston said. “I don’t think there’s any other goalkeeper in hockey that’s been as consistent as he has.” Johnston would know, as he’s been with Fleury since Day One. Johnston was the Penguins assistant general manager when the team drafted Fleury first overall in 2003, and he knew right away that the 18-year-old from Sorel, Quebec had what it took to be a franchise goaltender. “You spot those guys pretty early,” Johnston said. “All you had to do was talk to them and see the confidence they have in themselves and their ability. Being an ex-goalkeeper, we picked that up pretty quick with Fleury. His competitiveness, his ability to get around his net — his athletic ability was outstanding.

The big thing is that he was very, very competitive.” Heading into that draft, the Penguins originally had the thirdoverall pick after finishing the previous season 29th out of 30 teams. While the Penguins certainly had a lot of issues heading into the offseason, their biggest problem was between the pipes. They had no clear-cut starting netminder, as the Penguins had split the season between three different goalies: Johan Hedberg (41 games played), Sebastien Caron (24 games played) and Jean-Sebastien Aubin (21 games played). “We definitely needed a goalkeeper and that was our No. 1 priority at the time,” Johnston said. As it worked out, there was a very special prospect playing the position heading into that draft. Fleury garnered the attention of the hockey world with his spectacular performance at the 2003 World Junior Championship — where he backstopped Canada to a silver medal. At the end of his third junior season with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Fleury earned the Mike Bossy Trophy as the league’s top prospect and the Telus Cup as the top defensive player. After all of that, NHL Central Scouting listed Fleury as the No. 1 North American goaltender heading into the draft. However, the Penguins staff was aware of how special he was long before all of those honors, awards and rankings. continued on page 177

“We knew that way before the draft,” Johnston said. “[Chief scout] Greg Malone and everybody, we were unanimous in picking him as our No. 1 pick. We were so strong on him that it was important for us to get him. So anything we had to do, anything [general manager] Craig Patrick had to do to get him, we did.” That meant eliminating all risk of either Florida, who had the No. 1-overall pick, or Carolina, who was slotted second, taking Fleury at the draft. So Patrick traded the thirdoverall pick (Nathan Horton), their 55th pick (Stefan Meyer), and Mikael Samuelsson to the Panthers in exchange for the first-overall pick, the 73rd pick (Dan Carcillo) and the right to draft what the Penguins felt was their future franchise goaltender. Fleury reported to training camp that September and earned the right to start in the Penguins’ regular-season and home opener on Oct. 10 vs. Los Angeles despite being an 18-year-old rookie. “He had a very good camp,” Johnston said. “It didn’t take him very long to get adjusted to the top shooters in the game. Once we saw him at training camp, it was an easy decision for Craig Patrick to make sure he stayed up for a while.” The Penguins felt Fleury’s competitiveness was one of his biggest assets when they drafted him, and learned quickly that his demeanor was just as much of a strength. “He just had that personality about him,” Johnston said. “He’s upbeat all the time. And he still is. You go in the dressing room, and if you talk to him, he’s smiling all the time. And it’s never the team’s fault, he takes the onus on him. I think that’s why the players love him.” Johnston believes Fleury firmly established himself as the Penguins’ franchise goalie when he led the organization to the Stanley Cup in 2009. “We got beat the year before here, and then we go in Detroit and to bounce back after the sixth game, he played unbelievable in the seventh game,” Johnston said. “That pretty well told us he was the franchise goaltender.”

Penguins goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury earned his 300th career win on Nov. 24, becoming the thirdfastest and third-youngest goalie in NHL history to reach that milestone. In honor of his tremendous achievement, a few of Fleury’s teammates gave us their favorite memories of the goaltender. SIDNEY CROSBY “I think the obvious one’s got to be that save in [Game Seven of the 2009 Stanley Cup Final] against Detroit. I can remember thinking just win that faceoff, everything’s good. And then all of a sudden the puck’s there and they’ve got [Nicklas] Lidstrom all alone. And Flower is a pretty upbeat guy, he’s always doing something, he can’t really sit still. But he looked calm as I’ve ever seen him when he had to make that save. He made it look pretty easy for such a big moment.” PASCAL DUPUIS “Maybe the biggest Flower moment he’s known for around Pittsburgh is the Secret Service save there against Detroit in Game 7 at the end of the game, the backdoor play. Greatest one.” KRIS LETANG “I mean, there’s so many. But obviously the save in 2009 at the end of Game Seven against Lidstrom, I think it was probably my favorite.” CHRIS KUNITZ “Definitely the Game Seven save. You see glimpses of Lidstrom coming down and Flower throwing everything he has at it towards the puck to keep it out of our net. That’s the type of player and type of person he is.” BRANDON SUTTER “My favorite memory is when I scored my first NHL goal on him [as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes on Oct. 23, 2008 at Mellon Arena]. Brooks Orpik had a little turnover in the neutral zone and I went in on a breakaway and scored. That’s probably my favorite moment I’ve ever had with Flower. He might not like it too much, but I’ll go with it.” EVGENI MALKIN “My whole memories are that I score every practice, 10 goals. Every shootout, I score on him. I don’t know how he wins 300. It’s a surprise to me.”

A GRAND NIGHT: Rangers RW Martin St. Louis became the 81st player in NHL history to reach the 1,000-point plateau when he scored a goal on Nov. 28 at Philadelphia. St. Louis joined a group that included Theo Fleury, Pat LaFontaine, Steve Larmer, Mike Gartner and Rod Gilbert by scoring his 1,000th point in a Rangers uniform. The goal against Philly extended a run for St. Louis that saw him register at least a point in five of his last seven games and in nine of his last 13 (8+5). FAST START: Tampa Bay set franchise records with 34 points and with 16 wins through its first 24 games. The Lightning got it done at both ends while going 16-6-2. They led the NHL in goals with 84 through their first 24 games, and G Ben Bishop picked up wins in 14 of his first 19 starts (14-3-2) and had allowed two goals or fewer in six of his last eight games.

OFF AND RUNNING: Columbus LW Kerby Rychel made his NHL debut on Nov. 29 in Nashville and joined two other 2013 first-round picks, C Alexander Wennberg and C Marko Dano, as Blue Jackets draftees who have made their debuts this season (both appeared in the NHL for the first time on Oct. 9 at Buffalo). The last team to have three of its three first-round picks make their NHL debuts in the same season was the 1999-2000 Colorado Avalanche, who had 1998 first-round selections Alex Tanguay, Martin Skoula and Robyn Regehr arrive in that campaign. GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTIES A new Game Misconduct category will be created. Clipping, charging, elbowing, interference, kneeing, head-butting and butt-ending move from the general category into the same category as boarding and checking from behind (Physical Fouls), whereby a player who incurs two such game misconducts in this category would now be automatically suspended for one game.

RULE 24

PENALTY SHOT The Spin-O-Rama move, as described in Section 24.2 of the 2013-14 NHL Rule Book, will no longer be permitted either in Penalty Shot situations or in the Shootout.

RULE 38

VIDEO GOAL JUDGE Video review will be expanded in the following areas: * Rule 38.4 (viii) has been modified to allow broader discretion to Hockey Operations to assist the referees in determining the legitimacy of all potential goals (e.g., to ensure they are good hockey goals). The revised Rule will allow Hockey Operations to correct a broader array of situations where video review clearly establishes that a goal or no goal call on the ice has been made in error. The new expanded rule will also allow Hockey Operations to provide guidance to referees on goal and potential goal plays where the continued on page 198

referee has blown his whistle (or intended to blow his whistle) after having lost sight of the puck. * In reviewing Kicked in Goals, Hockey Operations will require more demonstrable video evidence of a distinct kicking motion in order to overrule a goal call on the ice, or to uphold a no goal call on the ice.

RULE 57 TRIPPING

The rule relating to Tripping will be revised to specifically provide that a two minute minor penalty will be assessed when a defending player dives and trips an attacking player with his body/arm/shoulder, regardless of whether the defending player is able to make initial contact with the puck. But, in situations where a penalty shot might otherwise be appropriate, if the defending player dives and touches the puck first (before the trip), no penalty shot will be awarded. (In such cases, the resulting penalty will be limited to a two-minute minor penalty for tripping.)

RULE 76 FACE-OFFS

To curb delay tactics on face-offs after icing infractions, in situations where the defending team is guilty of a face-off violation, following an icing, the defending player who is initially lined up for the face-off will be given a warning, but will be required to remain in the circle to take the face-off. A second face-off violation by the defending team in such situation will result in a two minute minor bench penalty.

RULE 64

DIVING / EMBELLISHMENT The supplementary discipline penalties associated with Rule 64.3 (Diving/Embellishment) will be revised to bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties. * Teams will switch ends prior to the start of overtime in the regular season. * The entire ice surface will undergo a dry scrape prior to the start of overtime in the regular season. * The procedure requiring the head coach to submit a list of the first three shooters in the shoot-out has been eliminated.

RULE 85

PUCK OUT OF BOUNDS There have been further rule changes made relating to face-off location to avoid penalizing teams for plays intended to create bona fide scoring opportunities. Specifically, the following are categories of plays where face-offs will remain in the attacking zone despite the fact that the attacking team was technically responsible for the stoppage in play: Shots at the net by a player on the attacking team where: (i) the shot breaks the glass; (ii) the shot goes off the side of the net and deflects out of play; (iii) the shot goes off the dasher boards or glass and deflects out of play; (iv) the shot is tipped or deflected out of play by a teammate; and (v) the shot becomes wedged in or on the exterior of the goal net. In addition, the following rule change will be enacted for the 2014 preseason and may be continued for the 2014-15 regular season if approved by the League and the NHLPA.

BUILDING INFORMATION ALCOHOL Guests of CONSOL Energy Center must be 21 years of age or older to purchase and/or consume alcoholic beverages. ARAMARK reserves the right to check proof of legal drinking age. There is a maximum of TWO (2) alcoholic beverages per purchase at all concession stands and portable vendors. For Pittsburgh Penguins games, all alcohol sales within the arena will conclude at the beginning of the third period. Individual concerts and events are determined on a show-by-show basis.

ATM MACHINES For the convenience of our fans, ATMs are available in CONSOL Energy Center: First Niagara Bank - Outside section 119 and 230, and in the lobby of the Trib Total Media Gate PNC Bank on PNC Legends Level - Outside of party suite 44 and suite 13

BAGS, BACKPACKS AND PURSES For security purposes, only small personal bags (purses, baby or diaper bags, etc.) will be permitted inside CONSOL Energy Center and all items are subject to search upon entrance. Large bags, coolers, backpacks and sealed packages, including gifts for performers and/or athletes of any kind are not permitted unless otherwise noted on the individual event page.

BANNERS AND SIGNS Banners and signs are permitted for most events, providing they are appropriate, as deemed by building management. Signs must not be commercial in nature or utilize wood, metal or other types of objects for support. They cannot be hung or fastened anywhere in the building or in any way obstruct another guest’s view or building signage.

AUTOMOTIVE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM AAA will have a “Puck Truck” at all Penguins home games. The “Puck Truck” is available to assist patrons that have trouble with their vehicles in CONSOL Energy Center lots only. Fans can call 1.800.AAA.HELP after the start of the third period.

BABY CHANGING STATIONS Baby changing stations are available in all restrooms, located on all seating levels of CONSOL Energy Center.
