DavNor Capitol to launch own version of Pinoy Biggest Loser by Noel Baguio

DAVAO DEL NORTE, Aug. 20 (PIA)--Riding on the popularity of the Pinoy edition of the hit weigh-loss reality TV show The Biggest Loser, the Provincial Government of Davao del Norte is launching its own version of the health and fitness competition. The province, through the Provincial Administrator’s Office (PAdO)-Sports Division, in partnership with the Provincial Human Resources and Management Office (PHRMO), Provincial Health Office (PHO) and the Provincial Information Office (PIO) is set to launch the 2011 Pinoy Biggest Loser-Capitol Edition on September 5, 2011. The contest, which will run until December, will become the highlight of the institutional Christmas party of the provincial government this year. OIC-Provincial Administrator Norma Lumain said the contest aims to provide the employees an opportunity to shape up and live a better and healthier life, as well as, offer them the neces-

sary support towards the acquisition of their goals. It will also impart guidance and information that the employees can use to start leading healthy lives in pursuit of their important role of advancing the programs and projects of the provincial government and in building a stronger nation. Provincial Sports Coordinator Giovanni Gulanes said there will be twenty-one participants, aged 20-45 years old, coming from the seven clustered departments of the provincial government, namely: Strikers, Healers, Coters, Legislators, Vermis, Builders and Funders. The contestants must have a minimum requirement of 175 lbs and above for the males and 150 lbs and above for the

females. They will be required three hours per week to have their gym session at the sponsoring fitness centers. A weekly weighin will also be conducted every Thursday. Parlors games will further be held every month, with prizes at stake for the winning teams. The individual grand winner will bag P20,000 cash prize, plus other surprise items and services, courtesy of the private partners of the contest. At the same time, the winning cluster will also get P15,000 cash prize. The 1st runner up (cluster category) will further receive P9,000 cash prize, while the 2nd runner up (cluster) P6, 000 cash prize. (Noel Baguio, PIO Davao del Norte/ PIA XI)
