Tuition Tax Credit Letter

Page 1

November 2011 Dear Friends, The Arizona Tax Credit program provides a unique opportunity to widen the access to an All Saints’ for a wider socio-economic range of families and students. This in turn adds to the quality of the All Saints’ experience for all, and it also makes a wonderful and permanent difference in the lives of students. One of those former students, Kaitlyn Caughlin, has graciously agreed to share her gratitude for the opportunity she received to attend All Saints’ Episcopal Day School. I encourage you to take a few minutes to read her letter. The enclosed brochure explains the practical details of the program, but more importantly Kaitlyn’s letter makes a most compelling case for its long-term value. I look forward to your participation this year. Faithfully, Leo P. Dressel Head of School I truly believe your Tuition Tax Credit donation to All Saints’ Episcopal Day School can influence the life of a child. I am a living example. With the help of financial aid, my mom, a single working mother, was able to send my sister and me to All Saints’, an achievement she is proud of to this day. My time at All Saints’ gave me both an amazing education and the chance to be part of a loving and supportive community. After graduating from All Saints’ in 1999, I attended Phoenix Country Day School and continued on to Pomona College, where I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and Mathematical Economics. After beginning my career in leadership at Vanguard and obtaining my Certified Financial Planning designation, I enrolled at MIT Sloan School of Management. I am the recipient of MIT Sloan’s McGowan Fellowship that is awarded to one, second-year student for demonstrating both academic excellence and the Choir Camp Counselors – Ryan Oney, highest standards of ethical leadership. I am firmly convinced that none of Kaitlyn Caughlin, Cherilyn Gain, Chris Feltz, this would have been possible without my All Saints’ education. Heather Oney, Maureen Feeney, Derek Frome, Suzi Caughlin

A top-notch education was not the only treasure that I discovered at All Saints’. I joined a community, developed life-long friends, and found my life partner! My husband, Ryan Oney, and I actually became friends after we graduated. Each summer during high school, we worked for Scott Youngs as alumni choristers and camp counselors. Little did I know that the dance we shared on Special Persons Day in the fourth grade would be a prelude to our wedding dance 17 years later! As a married couple, we remain active members of the All Saints’ community. I hope to be able to use my education, starting at All Saints’ and culminating at MIT Sloan, to help others become financially independent and confident in their ability to manage their financial lives. I want to help increase financial literacy to those who need it the most and pay forward the opportunities given to me to the next generation of students and families. While you will not know which child your donation is currently supporting, I hope that my story helps to show what a difference a little assistance can make over a lifetime.
