Dear Parent,

One warm summer day on a sunny side street, The neighborhood danced to its usual beat.

Philips Avent and Scholastic are pleased to present Sip, Sip, Hooray! – a storybook that follows a few toddler friends as they experience different life stages from baby to toddlerhood. Throughout the story, you’ll see each child looking for their best friend, a favorite Philips Avent Toddler Cup, which is their companion no matter what milestone they are experiencing, whether it be crawling, taking first steps, saying new words or learning to drink water just like Mom and Dad! As your little one grows alongside the friends in the story, enjoy precious time together while teaching your child valuable drinking skills and aiming for new milestones. Encourage your toddler to point out their familiar sippy cup that they’ve grown to love and show them the next one they’ll get to test out soon. Did his mom lose his trainer cup? She hadn’t a clue. Of course the silly sippopotamus knew!

With great big smiles and the occasional coo, Baby Ben grew thirsty playing peek-a-boo!

2

He had a new cup, like a bottle but better. When it didn’t appear, he grew hotter and redder.

3

Next door, little Angela was crawling about. She had a small snack and began to pout.

“Aw sweetie, where’s your cup with the handles and spout? The one that is spill proof, without a doubt!” Her dad searched the kitchen and behind the couch, …while the sneaky sippopotamus slipped it into her pouch. 4

5

Meanwhile, in a house not far away, Caleb was learning new things every day. He scribbled with crayons, built towers with blocks, Stepped up the stairs and pulled off his socks.

6

But Caleb was puzzled by something he saw, His twist and sip straw cup in an animal’s paw!

7

The families all gathered for a big barbecue. To celebrate the birthday of twins turning two. Young Cal wanted water or something to sip. Sal looked around for her cup with a lip. The twins were so thirsty they threw a huge fit, Their mom didn’t like it, not one little bit. She asked to borrow a cup for a drink, “I’d rather not make them sip straight from the sink!” 8

9

Hold on a minute. Something’s not right! All of our cups have vanished from sight. The sippo’ was sheepish. She looked quite ashamed. “Please don’t be angry, but I’m to be blamed.

Alas, silly sippo, those cups are for kids! Sippos don’t drink from spouts, straws, or lids.

“My dear baby sippo’ won’t drink like she should. I thought with your cups, that maybe she would.”

10

She laid the four cups on the table with care, So the families could easily match up each pair.

That settled and done, the party began. The twins threw two balls, jumped, kicked, and ran.

Tips for Tots At which age should my baby start drinking from a cup? The journey to independent drinking is a process that takes about 15 months and starts when your baby is around four months old and ready to move away from a bottle with a nipple, towards a cup with a spout, which allows more liquid through.

What is the benefit of handles? Handles help your baby to easily grasp the cup and learn to drink independently. A majority of the Philips Avent cup handles have been designed for anti-slip and feature rubberized grips, making them easy for a toddler to grasp.

Are Philips Avent cups BPA-free as well as dishwasher safe? Yes, Philips Avent cups are BPA-free as well as dishwasher safe. If the product contains any small parts, place them on the top rack of the dishwasher when washing.
