Job Training Healthcare Nurse Aide Diploma
Prepare to be eligible to be placed on the Pennsylvania State Nurse Aide registry and begin a career as a nurse aide. Develop your understanding of the legal and ethical standards of healthcare giving; medical terminology; residents’ rights and independence; infection control; and functions of the body systems. Gain supervised clinical experience and hands-on care skills. Emphasis in this program is on career awareness and job performance. Attend an orientation session for more information on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. at the Donley Center, Allentown campus. Courses start every four weeks. A student completing this course receives a certification in defensive driving as a professional truck driver through the National Safety Council. Firearms/Decision Making Skills for the Responsible Gun Owner This 20-hour basic course is designed for the individual who owns a firearm and might have to use it in a defense situation. The techniques presented are basic, practical and effective and include firearms safety, handling, carrying, storing and cleaning a firearm. Dates will vary. The instructor will identify the modules needed and will finalize placement. Three levels are offered. Designed to help people search the Internet more effectively and efficiently. Learn about a variety of specialized search tools and strategies.

Working the Cloud, Next Generation Computing is Now Designed to introduce the fact that many software manufacturers are moving their product line to the Internet rather than selling software that installs on a computer. In addition, providers are offering a variety of data storage options for use with these applications. Gain an edge by understanding cloud-based applications and data storage options.
Surface Computing
A course for people who own surface computing devices like tablet computers or smart phones. Intended to help them examine the different operating systems and applications available as well as the basic principles for fully utilizing surface computing features.

Center for Career Pathways and Literacy Official GED Testing
More Options for GED Testing at LCCC Did you know that you can choose between taking the GED test on paper or on a computer in LCCC’s Testing Center at Allentown’s Donley Center? In Fall 2013, you can choose the best way for you to take the GED test if it is your first time taking the test. If you have already started the test and need to finish, you need to finish the same way you started. Changes to the GED test Now is the time to finish your GED. The official GED test will change in January 2014, and partial tests will no longer be valid. Don’t lose what you’ve worked so hard for! Register for the test now! GED Test on Computer Data shows that individuals taking the test on the computer score higher and finish faster! Taking the test on a computer will also give you the option to schedule your tests one at a time. To register for the Computer Based Test: • Go to www.GEDtestingservice.com and follow the prompts for “test takers”. • Schedule and pay online ($24 per section). • Come in to the Testing Center on the day of your test with your ID. • Get your results before you leave the Test Center. Paper-based testing Step 1: Pre-registration REQUIRED • From any computer, log on to www.GED123.org. • Follow pre-registration instructions. • Confirmation will be sent to your email account. Step 2: Registration • Print confirmation from email and bring it with you to 718 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA to reserve your seat. • Make a non-refundable $85.00 payment to LCCC. We accept check, money order, or credit card (Visa, Master Charge, Discover, or American Express). • Bring a valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license). Registration TUITION Noncredit tuition fees are the same for residents and nonresidents. WHEN TO REGISTER Lehigh Carbon Community College urges you to register as early as possible and at least ten days prior to the class’ start date. Minimum enrollment is required for classes to be held; classes with inadequate enrollment are cancelled eight days prior to the start date. If you choose to register within several days of a course start date, we recommend that you call Noncredit Registration at 610-799-1197 to verify course details, space availability, location, and any special instructions. ROOM ASSIGNMENTS To receive your room assignment at Schnecksville within two days of your first class, please call our recorded reporting system at 610-799-1148 (Touch-Tone phone needed). When prompted, enter the code corresponding to your first day of class: Monday, 1; Tuesday, 2; Wednesday, 3; Thursday, 4; Friday, 5; Saturday, 6; or Sunday, 7. If you prefer, visit Enrollment Services, AD 124, on your way to class or call 610-799-1197 for your room assignment. At LCCC Allentown, Nesquehoning, and Tamaqua, room assignments are posted at entry on night of class. TEXTBOOKS When textbooks are required, they should be purchased before attending class. They can be purchased at the bookstore on the second level of the Academic Resource Center on the main campus in Schnecksville. You can also purchase books online. (Go to www.lccc.edu/bookstore.) When the cost of the textbook is included in the course fee, books will be available immediately before the first class meeting: Schnecksville campus on weekdays, bookstore, Academic Resource Center, 2nd floor; Schnecksville campus on Saturdays, at class; LCCC Allentown, reception desk; LCCC Nesquehoning, reception desk; and LCCC Tamaqua, reception desk. PARKING On Schnecksville campus, students may park in Lots A, D, E, F, and G. Please observe signs and avoid restricted areas. Please display portion of receipt on dashboard as directed. On Allentown campus, students may park in the lot behind the building. There is a $1/hour charge for daytime parking. $1 to park after 3:30 p.m. REFUND POLICY If you must withdraw from a class, you can receive a full refund, minus cost of textbook if included in course fee, provided you have informed Noncredit Registration in writing before the beginning of the second class. For classes that meet only once, refunds will be given only if requested prior to the start of the class. All refunds are issued by college check. TAX DEDUCTION You may receive a tax deduction for expenses of continuing professional education undertaken to maintain and improve professional skills. Consult with your tax advisor for allowable deductions.

Information CANCELLATION POLICY Classes are subject to cancellation based on sufficient enrollment. If your class is cancelled, we will notify you as soon as possible. You may transfer to another section of class or receive a full refund. Cancellation of classes due to bad weather is announced on major local radio stations or on the homepage of our website at www.lccc.edu. If the college is closed, makeup dates will be arranged through the instructor. SENIOR CITIZEN POLICY Citizens who are at least 60-years old and live in a sponsoring school district may be eligible for a 50% tuition discount. Conditions for reduced tuition are as follows: 1. A senior citizen needs to show proof of age the first time he or she registers. 2. Course must have sufficient enrollment of paying students. 3. Enrollment for reduced tuition must not cause the class size to exceed enrollment limitations. 4. Lab fees for consumable items needs to be paid by all students to the instructor at the first class. Required textbooks needs to be purchased by all students. 5. This tuition policy does not apply to those noncredit courses in which the college incurs a cost per student or where so noted. Senior citizen registration will take place on the day a course is scheduled to begin. A class scheduled to begin in the morning may be registered for on the previous evening. Also, a senior citizen electing to pay in order to guarantee a seat in class needs to pay full tuition.
