T O

Welcome Message

introduction

Welcome to Tampa, Florida and the first ever Pet Professional Guild (PPG) Force-Free Summit!

his is a very exciting, landmark moment for PPG as we embark on our inaugural educational Summit. The schedule is packed with an incredible program of presenters and fun activities, and will provide many incredible networking opportunities too.

1.

2.

3.

Y T

ur goals with this event are three-fold:

To help build awareness of PPG as a first-class member organization and to build a stronger collaboration of force-free pet professionals. To help support and build communication and networking opportunities with the veterinary community and veterinary educators through our keynote speaker, Dr. Karen Overall. To provide a highly interactive and fun educational format for all that attend.

ou are about to embark on an action packed three days! Let’s leave nothing on the table and really enjoy each and every moment we have to meet up with other force-free professionals and learn from an outstanding line-up of speakers.

he days will begin early with some gentle exercise. Don’t worry, it’s voluntary but I, for one, will be hitting the Riverwalk to get the creative juices moving at 6 a.m. and I hope to see you out there for an early walk/fun run or even a mini bike ride (see page 23 for details of bike rental)! If, however, you would rather awaken in a more relaxing manner then we’ll just catch you at breakfast instead. If you are on one of our meal packages, then the team breakfasts and lunches are being served in the Riverwalk North at the Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk (see hotel map on page 7).

D

on’t forget to carry your event lanyard and pass with you at all times. They will ensure you can move seamlessly from session to session and will also give you expedited access to the group meals and Splash dinner if you pre-purchased those options. Along the way, if you have any questions or need help, you should be able to easily identify our event staff from their PPG staff badges. Just wave them down, they will be happy to assist you (see page 24 for PPG’s phone and email contact details).

I A

personally would like to meet as many of you as possible. Please interrupt, say “hello” or tap me on the back as you are passing by. We always have time for our members and getting to know you all will be one of the event highlights for me.

s you will probably be aware, we are also using two rooms at The Tampa Convention Center for our event. The walk along the Hillsborough River is delightful and the break sessions allow enough time to get from one venue to the other. It’s only about a 10-minute walk between the two, which is much less than in many other conference and exhibition venues. Being November in Florida I feel comfortable in saying that we will be enjoying a dry, warm spell. If it does rain, then we will either have to rely on the hotel shuttle service or private cars to move us from one location to another. Or, as I say, given that dog training is an all-weather sport, just grab your rain coat and let’s go.

E

njoy your time here, absorb as much knowledge as possible, meet as many of your colleagues as you can, share expertise and experiences, and breathe in those positive, supportive vibes. Together we can permeate our force-free knowledge, principles and philosophy to all we meet.
