Pekingese developed within the Summer Imperial Palace in Peking, China, during the 8th century. Ownership of this dog was restricted to the members of the Chinese Imperial Court. Due to their confinement within the Imperial Palace, they were unknown to the outside world until the British invasion of the Palace in 1860. Native food supplies for this breed would have been those used in the kitchens of the Imperial Palace in Peking, China, and would have been foods of the Mandarin variety consisting of fish, pork, poultry, greens, beets, rice, and soy products. The Pekingese should eat whole foods that are a blend of poultry, rice, mixture of greens, beet, and soy. Avoid feeding white potatoes, avocado, oats, beef and horse meat. Organic
