ood afternoon everyone and a warm welcome to the players officials and supporters from Sunderland RCA, for this afternoons FA Vase 4th round tie.
I hope that you enjoy your visit to AFC Mansfield, but come the end of the game there is not too much enjoyment in the result. Today’s sees the return of an ex Stags player in Andy Saunders Colin Larkin. Larks served the Stags extremely well playing 106 times and scoring 26 goals. Chairman That should have been 27 had it not been for a certain Mark Clattenburg and his linesman disallowing a goal at the Millennium Stadium in the 94th minute of the division 2 play of final on the 31st May 2004, which had it have stood would have promoted the Stags. The only downside to Colin’s career as far as I am concerned is that he decided to move to another club the other side of the M1, who will remain nameless. Hope you enjoy your trip back to Mansfield Colin, but you have left your shooting boots in Sunderland. Well 2016 ended just a week ago, and what a year it was for our club. We gained promotion from the Northern Counties East League to the Northern Counties East Premier League. We made it to the 3rd Qualifying Round of the FA Cup only narrowly going out to a step 4 side to a debateable penalty in the 95th minute, having beaten 2 step 3 sides along the way and of course a run into the last 32 of the FA Vase. The under 21s were runners up in their league and won the league cup. Several of the junior sides also enjoyed a successful year. Last Monday we made a good start to 2017 with a wellearned 1-0 victory against Handsworth Parramore, after narrowly losing 2-1 to them on Boxing Day. One of the new turnstiles is now fully operational with the second one to be completed in the next few weeks. I would also like to thank all our volunteers for their hard work during the year. Because without you the club could not function. Finally, on behalf of all the Directors, Players and Management can I wish you all a Happy and Prosperous New Year.
COME ON YOU BULLS!! www.afcmansfield.net

warm welcome to everybody associated with Sunderland RCA. This will be our biggest game of the season so far. Sunderland are a good side, I know this because I have been to watch them, twice. Our last 3 games have taken us on a rollercoaster of a ride. The 13-0 demolition of a very poor Retford Utd side which saw the manager and most of the players leave the club after the game. Our back to back games over Christmas saw us lose 2-1 at Handsworth and win 1-0 at home. We certainly learnt the lessons from the 1st game and with a few tweaks made sure we didn’t make the same mistakes. In football it is important you learn from your errors and endeavour to put them right. We have only been in The FA Vase for 4 seasons but have always got to at least the 2nd round and our best is the 5th round. We would like to emulate that today but it will be tough. As always along with Sunderland’s strengths I have also spotted a couple of potential weaknesses and we will look to exploit them today. There are no major injury worries, although Joe Cheeseman is cup tied so I will have the rest of the squad to choose from today. Enjoy the game and have a safe journey home.

underland RCA FC started its life as Ryhope Youth Club. Its first season was in the Seaham & District League in 1963. The first game was against Seaham UDC at the Seaham CW ground, now home to Seaham Red Star, and it was a 3 - 3 draw. The first seeds had been sown three years earlier, in 1960, when the Ryhope Youth Club Centre opened in the Welfare Hall. In 1965 the club moved to the Colliery Welfare ground and in 1971 changed its name to Ryhope Community Association. Competing in the Seaham, then Houghton & District Leagues, the club enjoyed success with eight cup wins and four league titles. Rejected by the Wearside League because a Ryhope team already played in it, the club folded after the 1975-75 season. Re-formed three years later, the club joined the Northern Alliance in 1978 and won the League Challenge Cup at St James Park in Newcastle, in only their third season. Ryhope CA were also league runners up that year, even though they were reduced to playing on a school field. After some persuasion, the ambitious club convinced the council to lease then some derelict land Meadow Park was underway. Financial help was obtained from Sunderland and Tyne and Wear Councils and the Sports Council to build a football ground. The club members and community joined together to carry out the building work, resulting
in the enclosed ground where football games are played and enjoyed today. In 1982 the club was a founder member of the Northern League Second Division, achieving promotion as runner up in the 1983-84 season. Despite achieving a league placing of tenth the next season, survival proved difficult and the club was relegated in 1988. In 1999 a new era commenced with the amalgamation with Kennek Roker of the Wearside League to form Kennek Ryhope Community Association. The seasons from 2003 onwards were tough, but for the season 2006-07, the club joined forces with Springboard Sunderland and a new era as Sunderland RCA FC began.
Progress continues to be made both on and off the pitch and after finishing fourth in the previous two seasons Sunderland RCA FC were promoted as runners-up to Stokesley FC in season 2009-10 - a great achievement. Our first season back in Division 1 started badly, but we picked ourselves up, had a purple patch and finished the season in 13th place. Progress continued in the following season when we achieved our highest finish in the league (4th) under the management of Neil Hixon. The following season saw us almost relegated and we only retained first division status after a vote at the AGM went in our favour. the introduction of Martin Swales as manager brought a Continued on next page ‌‌...

renewed belief to the club and the 2015 - 16 season saw a great FA Vase run where we reached the 5th round proper before being beaten by Bristol Manor Farm, after which a slump in form saw us end the season in 13th place.
Acknowledgement The club is very grateful to Joe Dixon for providing information about the early years of Sunderland RCA. Joe played for what was then Ryhope Youth Club and subsequently Ryhope Community Association from its first match in 1963 through to the 1978-79 season. Joe has turned from goal scorer to historian and a wealth of detail can be found on his web site – http://www.joedixon9.co.uk – about Joe’s playing days with RCA and other Sunderland and east Durham clubs.

JASON WHITE
JIMMY GHAICHEM
The Bulls No1, kept 16 clean sheets in last season’s promotion success. Ex professional with Mansfield Town and brings that professional attitude to every game he plays. A great organizer and shot stopper started the season off with, you guessed it, a clean sheet against Shepshed Dynamo in The FA Cup.
Youth team player at Mansfield Town and Sheff Wed. Made 3 appearances at Peterborough Utd. His Nonleague clubs read like a who’s who, Ilkeston, Harrogate Town, Frickley and Scarborough Ath who he left to join The Bulls plus many more. A ‘duracell’ stamina Jimmy never stops running although could improve his goal tally. His favourite saying is “Oh my God!”.
MATTY PLUMMER Classy defender who signed from Hull United. Previous pro clubs are Hull City and Darlington. Matty was at Scarborough Athletic with Rudy Funk. Always calm on the ball he can play right across the back line. Very good in the air, reads the game very well and has a good touch and range of passes.
RYAN WILLIAMS
3rd season at the club for ‘Mr Reliable’. Won both Players Player and Managers Player in 2014-15 season. Last season injury saw him miss the back end of the season but now back to his best. An attacking left back who can also play in midfield.
With 67 appearances for Mansfield Town, 74 for Chesterfield and 54 for Hull City you could certainly call Ryan an Ex Pro. The list goes on Tranmere Rovers, Bristol Rovers, Aldershot Town, Weymouth Gainsborough Trinity and North Ferriby Utd where he gained promotion to The Conference North. His last club before joining The Bulls was Scarborough. A dead ball specialist he has scored some superb freekicks since joining the club. Always busy always ready to receive the ball and makes the side tick going forward.
GRANT ALLOTT
BRAD WILSON
Towering presence at the back and in the opposition box, scores his fair share of goals. Previous clubs include Ossett Town, Goole AFC & Hallam to name just a few. For a big player Grant is surprisingly good with the ball at his feet.
Brad joined the club with U19 side, he was immediately spotted as a player with a great future. Lack of regular games last season saw him gain valuable experience at neighbours Rainworth MW at the back end of the season. But the club made sure he returned to the fold this season. Captain of last year’s successful U21 side Brad is comfortable at Centre Half and full back, could be a 1st team Captain in the making.
MARK DUDLEY
CHRIS TIMONS Captain and a player full of experience. Previous pro clubs include Mansfield Town, Chesterfield, Halifax Town and Leyton Orient. Non-league clubs include Altrincham, Stafford Rangers, Ilkeston and Hucknall Town. Tough as old boots not many strikers out muscle ‘Timo’. Has been known to score the odd goal as well.
GARY BRADSHAW
Ex Pro with Hull City making 22 appearances. Gary also played at Harrogate Town and Cheltenham Town. But his longest stays were at North Ferriby Utd, 149 appearances, 105 goals and Scarborough DANNY NAYLOR Athletic, 120 appearances with 51 goals and was top Central midfield player who is now the only player left scorer in both 2013-14 and 2014-15 season. Finished from when the club first formed in 2012. A tough last season with 14 appearances at Hull Utd where he tackler with a range of passing that is a real asset to scored 10 goals. Consistent among the goals and will the club. Likes striking the ball from long range and is be disappointed if he doesn’t top 20 for the season. current holder of most appearances for the club. last year’s successful U21 side Brad is comfortable at

Centre Half and full back, could be a 1st team Captain in the making. Clever player especially in and around the box. OLIVER FEARON Still quite young Ollie was top scorer for Penistone Church last season. He has also had spells at Frickley, Ossett Town, Maltby Main and Worsborough Bridge. Ollie is good in the air and very quick across the ground. The Bulls tried to sign him last season and eventually he signed for the coming season. Another striker that will be looking to make his mark on the league.
LYNTON KARKACH Talking of young players, Lynton was signed from Gainsborough Trinity where he came through the youth set up. Has already endeared himself to all at the club with his ability to turn and run at defenders. Another superb signing for the 2016-17 season.
DANNY PATTERSON Uncompromising Central Midfielder with a superb work rate. Danny is always in the thick of it and you would always want him on your side than playing against him. Has a good touch and can pick a pass. Previous clubs include Handsworth Parramore, Tadcaster Albion and Sheffield FC. JON D’LARYEA Made 1 appearance for Man City against Arsenal after coming through their youth academy. Played 162 times for Mansfield Town. Spells at Northwich Victoria and Eastwood Town followed before 97 appearances at Gainsborough. This was split into two spells with 34 games at North Ferriby Utd inbetween. An extremely fit central midfield player who rarely gives the ball away and his signing is a real coup for the club. JOSH MADIN Defender who has signed from Pinxton this season.
