he Antapaccay deposit is located nine kilometers from the Tintaya mine in the District of Espinar, Cusco. It consists of two adjoining mineralized structures: Antapaccay Norte and Antapaccay Sur, whose importance stems from the fact that they will add to Tintaya’s production and lengthen its service life.

l depósito de Antapaccay está localizado a nueve kilómetros de la mina Tintaya en el distrito de Espinar, Cusco. Consiste de dos estructuras mineralizadas adyacentes: Antapaccay Norte y Antapaccay Sur, cuya importancia radica en aumentar la producción e incrementar la vida útil de Tintaya.
The Antapaccay mining project belongs to the Xstrata PLC Group, owner in Peru of the Tintaya mine and the Las Bambas and Coroccohuayco projects. The Xstrata PLC Group, headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, also has a shareholding in Cía. Minera Antamina.
El proyecto minero Antapaccay pertenece al Grupo Xstrata PLC, propietario en el Perú de la mina Tintaya y de los Proyectos Las Bambas y Coroccohuayco. El Grupo Xstrata PLC, cuya casa matriz está ubicada en Zug, Suiza, tiene participación también en Cía. Minera Antamina.
Xstrata Copper is one of the Xstrata Group’s business units. Its central headquarters is in Australia and the Company is dedicated to the production and marketing of copper. It has five divisions, including the Southern Division of Peru, which manages Tintaya, Las Bambas, Antapaccay, and Coroccohuayco.
Xstrata Copper es una de las unidades de negocio que conforman el Grupo Xstrata. Su sede central se encuentra en Australia y se dedica a la producción y comercialización del cobre. Reserves, production and investments In 2006, Xstrata Copper acquired the Antapaccay copper-gold project with its purchase of Tintaya. Antapaccay has skarn-type copper deposits that have been mined sporadically since the 1930 decade; the porphyry copper deposits were discovered at the end of 1998. At December 2008, over 400 holes had been diamond drilled to a total depth of 150,000 meters in Antapaccay, incurring exploration costs of more than US$17.3 million. Reservas, producción e inversión En el año 2006, Xstrata Copper adquirió el Proyecto de cobre–oro Antapaccay con la compra de Tintaya. Los yacimientos de cobre de Antapaccay son de tipo skarn y han sido trabajados esporádicamente desde los años treinta en el siglo pasado; los depósitos del tipo pórfido fueron descubiertos a fines de 1998. En Antapaccay, hasta diciembre de 2008, se han perforado 150,000 metros de perforación diamantina con más de 400 taladros e incurrido en un costo de exploración superior a los US$17.3 millones.
