Good Evening Playgoers, Welcome! It is once again a privilege and honor to welcome you to the 81st season of Peninsula Players. Our directors, Greg and Brian, have collaborated to assemble another exciting season of theatrical entertainment in a unique venue surrounded by natural beauty. I hope you will take a moment before the performance or during intermission to look through our program book. It contains a wealth of information about the theater, our cast of actors and other behind-the-scenes professionals that make performances possible. But our advertisers, who stay with us year after year, also deserve recognition for their support, which makes the program book possible. Whether they provide a service or product, I hope you will consider patronizing their establishments. You will also find the names of our play sponsors who provide significant financial support to cover current operating and capital needs. Finally, I would like to recognize the Kathryn A. Doerr Apprentice Fund, established in 2013 to provide funds for the compensation for two of our interns each year. The 2005 construction of the performance pavilion, canteen and set/design shop resulted in a substantial long term bank loan provided by Baylake Bank/Nicolet National Bank. Together with the continued and generous support of you, our patrons and donors to our Annual Fund, we made a substantial dent in our bank loan balance this past year. However, the balance remains sizeable, and continues to be a focus of our financial management. At the same time, we have undertaken a survey of our campus infrastructure and identified, prioritized and begun to address our long term maintenance requirements. The Board of Directors continues its focus on our mission to continue the heritage and legacy of Peninsula Players Theatre. In addition to the positive strides described above, we have teamed with the Door County Community Foundation to provide donors the ability to make a choice of possible legacy charitable contributions through an established community organization with exceptional financial endowment capabilities. Performances at Peninsula Players are Nancy’s and my most favorite evenings of the summer. I hope after your experience this evening, you feel the same. Please encourage your friends and family to join our theater community and experience the joy of live performances. Also, through your support, you can help us keep one of Door County’s artistic crown jewels shining for years to come.

Greetings to our 81st Anniversary Friends! Dear Friends, Welcome to Peninsula Players Theatre and our 81st season! We’re very happy that you’re here, enjoying our beautiful theater, gardens, Luna Bar, bonfire, the sun setting over the bay and our company of very talented professionals who come together to present you with another entertaining and uplifting season of theater. I’ve heard Peninsula Players often called “summer camp for actors” and indeed it is - for all of us here. We get to live in the woods, commute to work through the cedars and eat in a lodge by the water. In our free time we can swim in the bay, hike or bike around a beautiful county and enjoy this natural peacefulness away from crowded cities and our usual hustle and bustle. It is glorious and rejuvenating. And without those normal distractions that make up our everyday life, we’re allowed to concentrate and focus on just one thing - to put on some great shows for you. It’s wonderful - a gift - to solely work on this art we feel so passionately about for you, to give you the best we can because we are unencumbered by daily cares and inspired by the beauty and perspective in our natural surroundings. We are blessed to meet here - the two of us - you and I, audience and actor, playgoer and theater - and give you our gifts with our love. Please enjoy it all! Have a wonderful time at the Players!

GREG VINKLER Artistic Director Actor – Chapatti, Alabama Story Director – The Full Monty
Greg is delighted to have played a part in the Peninsula Players’ wonderful history for 28 years. In that time he has directed 28 productions (including Chicago and Lombardi) and performed in 46 - favorite roles include Sherlock Holmes, Salieri, Sir Thomas More and Maj. Gen. Butler in Butler. For his work with the Peninsula Players he was honored with the inaugural Door County Artist of the Year Award. Greg has performed extensively in Chicago, appearing at Chicago Shakespeare (35 productions), Goodman, Steppenwolf, Shubert, Court, Writers, Northlight, Marriott Lincolnshire and Victory Gardens theaters, and has received three Joseph Jefferson Awards (nominated 12 times), two Artisan Awards and an After Dark Award. Regionally he has performed at the Paper Mill, Fulton, Pittsburgh Public and BoarsHead theaters. Greg appeared on Broadway in the Tony Award-winning revival of West Side Story and also at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon, the Barbican Theatre in London, Vienna’s English Theatre and Singapore Rep.

BRIAN KELSEY Managing Director
Brian celebrates his ninth season as the Peninsula Players Managing Director. He comes to the Peninsula Players with a broad range of “for profit” and “not for profit” business experience, gained both in the United States and Europe, in the fields of operations, finance, marketing and public relations. Brian is engaged in the arts and tourism industries and serves on the board of the Fish Creek Civic Assn., Peninsula Arts and Humanities Alliance (past president), Theatre Wisconsin (president) and was appointed by the Governor to the Wisconsin Arts Board and the Wisconsin Governor’s Council on Tourism (vice chair). A graduate of Marquette University with a degree in journalism, Brian is pleased to share his business experience in the community that raised him. As a side note, he is even more pleased to be working for the organization that gave him his first performing arts experience as a child.

TOM MULA Director – Chapatti, Actor – The Hollow
Tom Mula is delighted to be back at his “home down by the bay” for his 22nd season. His acting performances include Chicago, Heroes, Opus, Cabaret, The Mystery of Irma Vep and many, many farces; shows he’s directed include Amadeus, Lion in Winter and the world-premieres A Real Lulu, The Tin Woman and Making God Laugh; the Peninsula Players premiered Tom’s play Bob Almighty, which was written for Bob Thompson. Tom was the Goodman Theatre’s resident Scrooge for seven seasons. Other Chicago credits include Jefferson Awards for his performance in Hot Mikado and his plays The Golem and Nicole Hollander’s Sylvia’s Real Good Advice. Tom is a full-time faculty member at Columbia College. He is also the author of the bestselling book/ award-winning play Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol. His new book, “Hackers of Oz,” was awarded a silver medal in this year’s Wishing Shelf Awards and is available on Amazon and BarnesandNoble.com.

JAMES LEAMING Actor – The Hollow, The Full Monty, Alabama Story
James happily returns for his 10th season at Peninsula Players where his favorites include The Foreigner and Escanaba in Da Moonlight. He and his wife, Carmen Roman, performed in world premières of Native Son and Botanic Garden. He performed Shakespeare, Shaw and Dietz at Asolo Repertory in Sarasota, Florida after performing a one-man This Wonderful Life, which has since moved to Syracuse Stage, Cleveland Playhouse, Laguna Playhouse and North Coast Rep in California. He has performed at Kitchen Theatre, Geva Theatres in New York, Alliance in Georgia and many in Chicago. He has won an After Dark Award for acting, a Jeff award for set design and is a founding member of the 30-year-old American Blues Theater in Chicago. Jim’s voice and on-camera credits include “Early Edition,” “Prison Break” and “Mind Games.” Jim trained at American Conservatory Theatre, San Francisco and Second City, Chicago.

In Memory of Peter Trenchard, Peninsula Players Board Member 1998 – 2016 Peninsula Players company members were saddened by the loss of board member Peter Trenchard when he passed away in his sleep on March 2, 2016. He was a dedicated company member and supporter of the Peninsula Players for three decades. Peter’s incredible 27-year service to Peninsula Players was an exceptional example of the great philanthropic giving of both time and resources that exists in Door County. His unwavering commitment to the Peninsula Players prompted a unanimous vote of the board last fall to elect Peter to the position of Honorary Board Member for Life. Peter was owner/operator of Bay Ridge Golf Course from 1976 until its sale in 2015 to his step-son, Erik. Peter was a founder of the National Golf Course Owners Association and from 1990-1993 was a member of the Executive Committee of the United States Golf Association. Peter and his wife Dianne built and operated Cherry Hills Lodge and Golf Resort from 1990 through 2004 while also operating Bay Ridge. His commitment to the Door County community is evident through his contributions to other non-profits and his service as a member of the Sister Bay Village Board. Peter was an avid golfer, sailor, traveler, opera enthusiast and gifted amateur photographer. He loved his family and lived his life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife Dianne; daughters, Stephanie (Jeremy Popelka), Meg (Todd Langeness), Jane (Bill Backes), daughters of Sherry Trenchard; step-daughter Kim (Dan Kelleher), step-son Erik (Halle Aten), eight grandchildren, his sister Mary Petrie, sister-in-law Sharlene Trenchard and many cherished friends.

MARK MOEDE Actor – The Hollow, The Full Monty
Mark made his Peninsula Players debut in And Then There Were None and has performed for more than 35 years in a variety of states, countries, languages and genres. Twenty years of these performances include the Door Peninsula, beginning with Theatre M, which Mark and his wife Mary White founded in 1991. They have lit up stages at The Town Hall Bakery of Jacksonport, Third Avenue Playhouse, Woodwalk Gallery and a host of other accommodating venues. His education includes degrees in acting and directing from Montclair State University and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA), performances, master classes and study in Switzerland, Venice, London, New York and Philadelphia. Some of his recent work includes Door Shakespeare’s The Complete Works of William Shakespeare [Abridged], Pride of Prejudice, Twelfth Night, Northern Sky’s Life on the Mississippi, Spitfire Grill, Theatre M’s Talking Heads, The Revival of Billy Sunday and TAP’s Tuesdays with Morrie and The Subject Was Roses.

ASHLEY LANYON Actor – The Hollow, The Full Monty
Ashley is incredibly happy to be spending a second summer at Peninsula Players, where she appeared in Lend Me a Tenor and Nunsense last year. Originally from Minnesota, Ashley earned a BFA in musical theater from The Boston Conservatory and then moved to New York City. New York credits include South Pacific (Westchester Broadway Theatre) and Le Cabaret Grimm (New York Musical Theater Festival). Upon moving to Chicago last fall, she performed in Nice Work If You Can Get It (Theatre at the Center), sang with the Chicago Artists Chorale and taught for Stomp and Shout Chicago. She will be seen tap dancing her way through the upcoming holiday season in Crazy for You at Drury Lane-Oakbrook.

About the Playwrights ... TERRENCE McNALLY Book – The Full Monty
Awards from the Dramatists Guild, two Obies, two Lortel Awards and two Guggenheim Fellowships.
Terrence McNally was awarded the Dramatists Guild Lifetime Achievement Award in 2011. He earned Tony Awards for his plays Love! Valour! Compassion! and Master Class and for his books of the musicals Ragtime and Kiss of the Spider Woman. In 2010 the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts presented a threeplay festival of his work, Nights at the Opera. His other plays include Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, A Perfect Ganesh, Corpus Christi, The Ritz, It’s Only A Play, The Lisbon Traviata, Some Men, The Stendhal Syndrome, Where Has Tommy Flowers Gone?, Bad Habits, Deuce, Dedication or The Stuff of Dreams, Unusual Acts of Devotion, Next, Sweet Eros, Witness and his first play, And Things That Go Bump in the Night, which was produced on Broadway in 1964. He has written the librettos for the musicals The Full Monty, A Man of No Importance, The Rink and The Visit and the opera Dead Man Walking. His teleplay, “Andre’s Mother,” won an Emmy Award for Best Drama. He wrote the screenplays for “Frankie and Johnny,” “Love! Valour! Compassion!” and “The Ritz.” Among his many awards are a Citation from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best New Play, four Drama Desk Awards, three Hull-Warriner Best Play
DAVID YAZBEK Music & Lyrics – The Full Monty A varied career as a recording artist, Emmy-winning TV and film writer, music producer and pianist has somehow led Yazbek to a career on Broadway. His three shows, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and Women On The Verge Of A Nervous Breakdown were all Tony-nominated for Best Score. The Full Monty earned him the Drama Desk Award for Best Music. As a recording artist, Yazbek is responsible for five albums: “The Laughing Man” (winner NAIRD award, Best Pop Album of the Year),”Tock,” “Damascus,” “Tape Recorder” and “Evil Monkey Man.” He also produced the original cast albums of his three Broadway shows, earning Grammy Award nominations for “The Full Monty” and “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.” David scored the final season of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire,” scored and performed the music for Larry David’s giant Broadway hit Fish In The Dark, and built an IKEA storage shelf.

A longtime resident of New York City, he is now an Assistant Professor of Theatre and Music Theatre at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Favorite New York and Regional credits include The Complete Works of Shakespeare Abridged, The Tempest (off-Broadway), Buffalo Soldiers (Nat’l Tour), Pirates! (Goodspeed), Turnadot: Rumble for the Ring directed by Diane Paulus (Bay Street), Fiddler on the Roof, Oklahoma! Peggy has appeared at Peninsula Players in Miracle on South Division Street, Over the Tavern, Outside Mullingar, Cabaret and many more. She comes to Peninsula Players straight from The Wizard of Oz at Muny Opera of St. Louis. She recently finished her fifth season at the Asolo Repertory Theatre in Sarasota, Florida. She has worked at all the major theatres in Chicago earning four Jeff Awards, three After Dark Awards and three Artisan Awards. Nationally, she has worked at Mark Taper Forum, Atlantic Theatre Company, Milwaukee Rep and La Jolla Playhouse. Film and television credits include “Road to Perdition,” “Groundhog Day,” “Stranger Than Fiction,” “Were the World Mine,” “Law & Order,” “E.R.,” “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Prison Break.”

VALERIE MAZE Music Director – The Full Monty
Valerie is excited to return to Peninsula Players where her past productions include Nunsense, A Little Night Music, Cabaret and A Day in Hollywood, Night in the Ukraine. Recent Chicago credits include Conductor with Drury Lane Theatre’s White Christmas, Goodman Theatre’s Brigadoon and Chicago Shakespeare Theater’s The Little Mermaid, Gypsy and Follies. She served as Assistant Conductor on The King and I, Carousel, The Sound of Music, Oklahoma! and Showboat at Lyric Opera of Chicago as well as Assistant Conductor and Dance Pianist for several operas. Chicago credits include Writer’s Theatre (A Little Night Music, Jeff Award nomination), Noble Fool Theatricals, Apple Tree Theatre, Theater at the Center (Cats, After Dark Award), Light Opera Works, Provision Theater, Elgin Opera House and DuPage Opera. ANDY ANDERSON Musician – Trumpet – The Full Monty
Andy is a native of Door County. He spent several years playing around the country and world with the University Wisconsin Badger Band and the Army Band, playing for multiple presidential engagements and the 1996 Summer Olympics. He plays locally with The Peninsula Singers, his rock band Papa Ricks Chicks and this will be his fifth show with Peninsula Players. He currently is the trumpet instructor with the Anderson Music Studio while continuing to work in Physical Therapy at Door County Medical Center.
MAUREEN MILBACH Musician – Percussionist – The Full Monty
Maureen has an MA in Theater/Administration from The University of Akron in Ohio and is currently the Theatre, Media and Communications teacher at Xavier High School in Appleton. Each year she directs two to three shows at Xavier including the Children’s Theatre productions in which her students perform for elementary school children. She has been a percussionist for more than 30 years and has worked with community and professional theaters in Wisconsin including Northern Sky Theater. Maureen is excited return to Peninsula Players this summer and to enjoy her friends, family, and kayak launches in the area.

Peninsula Players A Brief History of the Theatre in a Garden Take a rustic, woodsy site outfitted with a few little cabins that once served a boys camp along the bay. Add a dream, a barnlike proscenium stagehouse and a hundred or so seats open to the stars above and you have the early days of Peninsula Players. Richard and Caroline Fisher, a young novice brother-and-sister team, started the troupe in 1935 when they produced Noel Coward’s Hay Fever at a site behind the former Bonnie Brook Cottage/Motel in Fish Creek, now the Fish Creek Town Park.

Many continued their careers in the arts, either on- or off-stage, and some have even gone onto stardom.
By 1937 the Fishers along with their parents (“Mama” who designed and made costumes and fed the company and “Papa,” the general handiman) realized the ensemble 1938 A Night Must Fall with Leo had outgrown the Lucker and Helen Bragdon motel site so they purchased the 22-acre Wildwood Boys Camp, the present site of the theater.
Although Peninsula Players began under the stars, a canvas top was draped above the audience in 1946, and in 1957 Caroline’s dream of a permanent roof came true when the open-sided pavilion was built. In 1960, after 25 years of involvement, the Fishers sold the theater at public auction to Kenneth Carroad, a New York City attorney. Jim McKenzie was hired to oversee the Players’ operations as producer. He and his wife, actress J e a n n e Bolan, both associated with the Players since 1947, took on the Fisher legacy. 2004 production of Into the Woods with

The non-profit organization, Peninsula Players Theatre Foundation, Inc., was formed in 1962, to operate the theater, and in 1978 Carroad sold out. McKenzie 32
became owner of the property in 1978 and continued as the Company’s producer.

Anticipating significant renovation and repair to the theater pavilion and surrounding support buildings as well as the need for new production and housing facilities, McKenzie decided to sell the place to the Peninsula Players Theatre Foundation, Inc. in 1993. As a member of the Players Board of Directors, McKenzie continued to help preserve and improve the theater’s facilities and environment until his death in 2002.

More than a decade ago many improvements were made, including actor housing and public restroom facilities, expanded and upgraded rehearsal and storage areas and a computerized box office. The close of the 2005 season brought the beginning of the Players’ largest improvement – a new stage house and audience pavilion.

Through the generous support of many donors, benefactors and volunteers all intent on continuing the magic of live theater for future generations, the Players built a new facility in the exact same foot-print of the first theater. In June 2006, the 621-seat audience pavilion opened. Included are up-to-date wiring, more space for actors and scenery and a redesigned space to provide better sightlines for the audience, not to mention new comfy seats.

In his previous 11 seasons at Peninsula Players, Jack designed scenery for Outside Mullingar, And Then There Were None, Butler and Sunday In The Park With George among many others. JASON FASSL Lighting Designer – The Full Monty
Jason’s past Peninsula Players designs include Always… Patsy, Cline, Lombardi, Panic and The Lady is Not for Burning. Over the decade, Jason has consumed mass quantities of electricity at American Players Theatre, The Milwaukee Repertory Theater, The Milwaukee Ballet, First Stage Children’s Theatre, Skylight Music Theatre, Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Renaissance Theatreworks, Next Act Theatre, Forward Theatre Company, Milwaukee Opera Theatre, TheatreLILA, The Fireside, Pearl Theatre Company and many others. Jason is a member of Scenic Artists Local #829, Stage Employees Local #18 and is a graduate of the University of Stevens Point.
NAN ZABRISKIE Costume Designer – The Full Monty
Nan returns to Peninsula Players where she costume designed The Fox on the Fairway. She designed the makeup and prosthetics for Grace on Broadway with Michael Shannon. Her frequently Jeff-nominated costumes have been seen at Writer’s Theatre, Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Steppenwolf, the Goodman Theatre, Court Theatre, Indiana Repertory Theatre, Northlight Theatre, Victory Gardens Theater, Colorado Shakespeare Festival, Joffrey Ballet, Giordano’s Jazz Dance Theatre, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Nan works extensively in stage makeup where she designs makeups then trains actors to implement them at Goodman and Steppenwolf among others. She was founder and co-artistic director of the original Chicago Children’s Theatre, an American Alliance for Theatre and Dance Award-winner for which she designed sets and costumes for 25 productions. She formed and runs the makeup and wig program at the Theatre School of DePaul University and is the Director of Wigs and Hair Chicago, a professional program designed to train theatrical wigmakers.
SARAH E. ROSS Scenic Designer – Chapatti, The Hollow Properties Designer – The Full Monty
Sarah celebrates her ninth season at Peninsula Players. She is a freelance scenic, costumes, and properties designer based in Chicago and has worked with American Blues Theater, The Second City, Paramount Theatre, Shattered Globe, 16th Street Theater, Writers Theatre, Theater Wit and Chicago Shakespeare Theater. Regionally, she has designed scenery for TheaterSquared, Helen Hocker Theater and Summer Studio Theater Company. She received a Jeff Award for costume design for Tobacco Road and nomination for scenic design for Collected Stories (American Blues Theater) and Tobacco Road (Shattered Globe). She is a proud ensemble member with American Blues Theater and member of Local USA 829 and the Society of Properties Artisans and Managers.
MEGAN B. HENNINGER Sound Designer – The Full Monty
Megan is thrilled to return to Peninsula Players! She is a Milwaukee-based designer who has contributed to shows large and small. Recent designs include Back Home Again and Sirens of Songs (Milwaukee Repertory Theater), Crowns (Skylight Music Theatre), These Shining Desire and Hands on a Hardbody (Williams Street Repertory). Assistant designs include You’re Welcome America, Ghetto Klown, Stick Fly, and Blithe Spirit (Broadway); Company, My Fair Lady and Camelot (Lincoln Center); and The Wiz (La Jolla Playhouse).

The Kathryn A. Doerr Apprentice Fund
Established in 2013 in memory of Kathryn A. Doerr (Katie), by her family, this fund provides critical support for Peninsula Players’ apprentice program. During her lifetime, Katie was an advocate and supporter of art education, notably to art education in the Door County community she loved. Her legacy will provide scholarships for two apprentices during the Players season. This season’s interns supported by the Kathryn A. Doerr Apprentice Fund are Phillip Jindra and Mackenzie Tank. Phillip is focusing his career goals on the technical side of theater after earning a degree in acting and vocal music. Mackenzie’s goals are to balance performing with arts management thus utilizing her degree in the music business. Hayden makes his Peninsula Players debut in The Full Monty. Hayden is a Door County resident and will be a Freshman at Gibraltar Area Schools in Fish Creek this fall. CRAIG McCLELLAND Musician – Bass – The Full Monty
Craig is delighted to join Peninsula Players for another season. Craig studied bass at Los Angeles’ Musician’s Institute and holds degrees from the University of New Mexico (BS/Music/Communication) and California State UniversityDominguez Hills (MA/Humanities). A composer as well as performer, Craig’s works were recently featured at the UNM International Composer’s Symposium in Albuquerque, NM and the Phoenix Experimental Arts Festival. Craig can also be seen playing bass, tuba, and ukulele with the Vespus Marimba Band, the Sukey Jump Band, and the Gazebo Guys. When not performing, Craig most enjoys spending time with his wife, Amy and his children, Mari and Connor.
GEORGE SAWYN Musician – Guitarist – The Full Monty
George started playing guitar at the age of 12 after five years of piano lessons, motivated by good old American peer pressure. His earliest musical heroes include The Beach Boys, The Ventures and The Beatles. After about two years of hoping to be America’s next rock star, he discovered Chet Atkins, and with him, a whole universe of musical styles, including jazz, country, and classical music. George’s other musical influences include jazz guitarists Wes Montgomery and Pat Metheny, jazz pianist Marian McPartland, and classical guitarists John Williams and Andrew York. After 38 years as a professional guitarist in the Chicago area, George relocated to Door County. Since then, he has performed and recorded with many of the country’s best musicians. He has done session recording at Han Christain’s Studio 330 and was the guitarist for Peninsula Players’ 2014 production of Always... Patsy Cline.
ERIC SCHULTZ Musician – Reeds – The Full Monty
Originally from Green Bay, Eric Schultz now lives in the New York City metro area where he teaches and performs regularly. He is a doctoral candidate, studying Clarinet Performance at Stony Brook University with Alan Kay (Orpheus Chamber Ensemble, Julliard, Manhattan School of Music) while also serving as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. This past summer, Eric traveled to the Czech Republic where he had the opportunity to study with Walter Seyfarth of the Berlin Philharmonic. He also recently served as the clarinet faculty at the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire while completing his master’s degree at the University of Minnesota. Passionate about theater, Eric performed the Reed 1 book for Nice Work If You Can Get It, the Broadway Musical on National Tour and has been performing with the Players since 2010. Eric is thrilled to be back in Door County for his fourth musical with this wonderful group of musicians and people.
KIMBERLY W. SOUTHER Musician – Keyboard – The Full Monty
Kim is delighted to return to Peninsula Players as a keyboardist in the production of Nunsense. Kim is a professional pianist and cellist who resides in Carlsville, Wisconsin. Known for her genre-bending techniques, Kim recently collaborated with Yo Yo Ma and members of the Silk Road Ensemble at the inaugural Global Musicians Workshop. Kim recently worked with and received training from Rushad Eggleston, Mike Block, Jayme Stone, Joe Walsh, Sarah Jarosz, Kimber Ludiker, Hanneke Cassel and Eugene Friesen. She is dedicated to inspiring and educating other 21st century musicians and will begin touring extensively in October. Kim performs with the Fox Valley Symphony, Manitowoc Symphony and Vic Ferrari Symphony on the Rocks series and is proud to announce her first album, “Missing You,” to be released April 2015.

AUDRA BAAKARI BOYLE Business Manager
Audi celebrates her 22nd season as a Peninsula Player where she has also served as the Box Office Manager and Public Relations Director. In 1998, she became the Peninsula Players Business Manager. Audi has worked throughout the Midwest at various theaters serving as Assistant Sales Manager at The New Theatre Restaurant in Kansas City, Missouri and as Business Manager for University Theatre in Fayetteville, Arkansas. She earned a BFA degree in technical theater, an MA in theater history and public relations and certificates in human resources and non-profit administration from UW-Superior. Audi is married to fellow Peninsula Players company member and technical director, Scott, and is thrilled to spend the season by the bay with their son, Conor.
DANIELLE SZMANDA Development and Events Manager
Danielle is thrilled to be celebrating her sixth season with Peninsula Players! She has an array of theater experience, both on and off stage, as well as behind the scenes. From working as a theater technician at St. Norbert College, to box office staff at Black Ensemble Theatre in Chicago, to her work here at Peninsula Players, Danielle has had the privilege of working in various diverse theater positions with a variety of theater professionals and audiences. She is ready for another exciting season at the Peninsula Players and another glorious year in Door County with her husband Jason and growing family!

SCOTT M. BOYLE Technical Director
Scott’s career with the Peninsula Players began in 1994. After finishing his graduate work at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, he returned to the Peninsula Players in 1998 and has been enjoying his home by the bay every summer since. Besides his work at the Peninsula Players, Scott has worked for a number of regional and educational theaters such as St. Louis Repertory Theatre, Kansas City Repertory Theatre, Webster Conservatory, Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and Carroll University. Currently he is an Assistant Professor and Technical Director for the Department of Theatre at the University of Minnesota Duluth. When he isn’t in the shop he loves spending time with his wife and Peninsula Players Business Manager, Audra, and their son, Conor.
LAURA EILERS Production Manager
Laura was on the production management team at Fox Valley Repertory (FVR) for eight years. During her time with FVR, she enjoyed exercising her broad range of technical theater skills including lighting design, properties design, stage management and scenic construction. Favorite productions include Red Herring, Around the World in 80 Days, Winter Wonderettes and The Woman in Black. Laura has also served in multiple freelance positions with other companies around the Chicago area and the Midwest including the Fox Country Players, Drury Lane Oakbrook and the Illinois Shakespeare Festival. Michael is thrilled to return for a fifth season as the Peninsula Players’ Master Electrician and third season managing the Luna Bar. When not at Peninsula Players he lives and works in Chicago. Recent Chicago credits include Technical Director for American Blues Theater, where he was recently named an Artistic Affiliate, Emergent Theater, Sideshow Theater Company, Route 66 Theater, American Theater Company and Livewire Theater Company. He has also served as master electrician for Shattered Globe Theatre and Theater at the Center as well as spot operator for Mary Poppins and Miss Saigon with Paramount Theatre in Aurora, Illinois. KYLE PINGEL Costume Shop Manager Kyle is overjoyed to be returning to his home by the bay for his fourth year as Costume Shop Manager. When not at the Peninsula Players, Kyle works in Chicago as a freelance wardrobe and wig technician. He most recently worked with the Goodman Theatre, Paramount Theatre, DePaul University Opera and Windy City Music Theatre. Kyle’s most recent costume design credits include Jake’s Women with University of Wisconsin-Fox Valley and Nunsense at Peninsula Players Theatre. Kyle earned a BA degree in technical theater from the University of Wisconsin – Green Bay. He will be returning to Chicago at the end of the Peninsula Players season to work on A Christmas Carol at the Goodman Theatre.

JACKSON BOEVER Master Carpenter This is Jackson’s first season with the Peninsula Players. Jackson has a BFA degree in theatrical engineering from Hamline University in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He is a Minneapolis/Saint Paul-based technician working primarily in scenic carpentry, theater rigging, electrics and facility management. Jackson has worked on more than two dozen shows through Hamline University, Carleton College, Penumbra Theatre Company and The Ordway Theater.
Go Behind the Footlights at Peninsula Players Since 1935 Peninsula Players has entertained and delighted Door County audiences. Patrons are curious about how productions are produced at Peninsula Players. A backstage tour provides a peak into the behind-the-scenes work as well as a review of the Players history. In this walking tour patrons see for themselves the work environment, from production to a bird’s eye view of the stage from the tech gallery. Those interested in a backstage tour should phone the Box Office to reserve a spot. Tours will be given at 2 p.m. Sundays June 19, June 26, July 10, Aug. 7, 21 and 28. A set number of spots are available per tour, so one should call ahead and secure admission. Peninsula Players Internship Program Theater is one of the few professions where apprentices can learn from those who practice their art. The internship program at Peninsula Players Theatre is part of a tradition which runs as deep as the roots of the theater itself. Since the Peninsula Players launched its first season in 1935, interns, then called apprentices, have been given the opportunity to work side-by-side with professionals, learning the craft by observing and participating in it. Working in theater necessitates honing well-rounded skills. Gaining experience in a professional setting such as the Peninsula Players develops communication skills, provides hands-on training and builds networking opportunities with working professionals. Participants in the internship program work with the theater’s professional actors, managers and technicians for 14 to 20 weeks in all facets of theater, from backstage to front office, making the Peninsula Players Internship Program unique among theater programs. The program provides participants a chance to explore many aspects of theater production. As each show opens, the intern’s daytime and evening assignments rotate, thus creating a constant path of growth throughout the season. The program’s diversity and atmosphere attracts applicants from across the country. Mixing work and responsibilities, interns are offered opportunities to enhance their résumés, try different areas in theater production and make contacts with working actors, designers and managers. Interns participating in our 2016 season came from a variety of academic programs in Georgia, Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana and Wisconsin. The Peninsula Players Winter Play Reading Series

The overwhelmingly positive audience response encouraged Peninsula Players Artistic Director Greg Vinkler to produce this season’s full-stage production for Door County audiences. Join the Peninsula Players in the winter months for its sixth season of free public play readings. The Play’s the Thing is part of the Peninsula Players’ winter outreach programming, presenting professional play readings for the public. In 2016 the Peninsula Players presented The Who & The What by Ayad Akhtar in conjunction with Door County Reads and its exploration of Akhtar’s “American Dervish.” The Love List, a careful-what-you-wish-for comedy by Norm Foster and Who Am I This Time (& Other Conundrums of Love) by Aaron Posner, adapted from stories by Greg Vinkler and Penny Slusher Kurt Vonnegut were also presented. The play reading series provides an opportunity to introduce patrons to new works or to present works which do not quite fit into a season due to challenging production requirements. KEIRA JACOBS Carpenter Keira is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison where she earned a BA in theater and drama and was the set designer, props designer and technical director for The Importance of Being Earnest. This is her third season at Peninsula Players and her second as a member of the scene shop staff. She has also worked for the Madison-based touring company Opera for the Young, where she was in charge of maintenance and repairs of the set and props for their production of The Magic Flute. In her spare time Keira likes to boogie and turn miniature mushrooms on the wood lathe.

Allison has worked in numerous kitchens over the years, including a farm chef position in New Glarus as well as baking for Wild Tomato Pizza. She lives in Egg Harbor with her husband, Craig, and their twoyear-old pup.
