High Point Charolais Breeders Bull Sale

Saturday, March 30, 2013, 6 p.m. Deer Lake Farms, Singhampton, ON

Featuring: 24 yearling bulls

Welcome

Welcome to the 2nd annual High Point Charolais Breeders Bull Sale. As the saying goes, “time flies when you’re having fun,” and the past 12 months have surely flown by. For the most part these are fun days in the beef business. Worldwide consumer demand for beef is growing while every article I read speaks of the decline in cow numbers. For a variety of reasons, the cull cow run last fall was absolutely astounding. While other factors may still come in to play, one doesn’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure out that given increased demand and a decreased cow herd, beef prices have only one way to go! How long will this trend continue? Well it takes five years from the birth of a heifer calf until she produces a market ready animal, so I think we’ve got some time on our side. Being cattle producers, these are fun things to think about.

Jim, Susan & Laurie Baker Sunrise Charolais

Brian & Doris Aitken Bridor Charolais

Given the current scenario, I feel stronger than ever before about the importance of using Charolais bulls regardless of the color of your cow herd. More pounds = more dollars in your pocket at the end of the day. Charolais and char-cross calves Doug, Earl, Cory, Ryan & Erin Briggs simply weigh more than the rest come sale Echo Springs Charolais day. This has been proven time and again EMB Charolais by so many commercial cattlemen who have tried something else and are now back buying Charolais bulls. I believe we have another great set of bulls on offer this year. Coming from three uniquely different programs there is certainly a bull or two that will work on your cows. Please talk to us prior to the sale as we know our bulls, you know your cows, and it’s so important to get the right match. Helping you make more money from your cows enables us to continuing doing what we love to do. We truly want to partner with you in the cattle business and make certain our bulls exceed your expectations. We invite you to come see them in their home environment anytime. Rest assured they come from a fully vaccinated cow herd, they have been semen tested and they are ready to go to work. Looking forward to seeing you sale day!

The judge at Shelburne Fall Fair said he walks “smooth like a cat on the prowl” after placing him 1st in his class. He is without question the best footed, strongest legged bull we have ever raised and he moves beautifully. Merit Roundup is becoming very well known in the Charolais breed and here’s why. Just take a close look—there are an awful lot of things right about this future herd sire. Retaining a 1/4 semen interest

Sunrise Remarkable is truly that: he puts it all together in a moderate package. With heifer-approved bulls on both sides of the pedigree, calving ease should come naturally. He’s actually out of a first calf heifer I purchased from Whiskey Hollow and his weaning weight proves the fact that she’s a milking machine.

Here’s a bull that’s a touch different in style from the rest of our bulls. He is extremely thick, clean fronted, clean sheathed and has a great neck extension, but he carries it all just a little closer to the ground. Often good things come in small packages and I think that holds true here too.
