9 - Two year olds My family and I would like to send you this heartfelt welcome to the 40th annual sale. First I would like recognize the Davidson and McRae families for seeing the need and opportunity for this sale 40 years ago, giving cow/calf producers in Southern Alberta a place to source new genetics locally. Our family has been involved with the Charolais breed for three generations. Dad bought his first Charolais cows the year I was born, and sold his first bulls in this sale in 1976. I got involved in the sale in 1984, and Spring Point Colony and George Dingerville bought bulls that first year. Brant has decided he was interested, and bought some purebreds this past fall. We can’t be content with the status quo, but need to be looking for that next herd bull that will help achieve our goal of efficient beef production. We run mostly an angus x commercial herd, and we calve and manage the purebreds with the commercials. The two year old bull program fits our operation best. The bulls are not pushed the first winter, and are turned out on grass for the summer. They are brought back in the first of November to be gently fed for the sale. Dad and Mom registered their first charolais cow in 1976, and put their first bull in this sale in 1983. As you can see our family has a long, proud history in the Charolais breed and the bull sale! We have many valued customers and friends and it’s a real privilege for our family to provide you with bulls over the last thirty plus years. Your confidence in our program is appreciated! Calving ease and disposition are two very important qualities to us ; but performance has not been overlooked. The bulls have had no creep feed so weaning weights are a true reflection of what our cows are producing. As usual the bulls are bucket fed a well-balanced custom made grain ration and free choice hay. This ration insures proper development of these young bulls. 365 day weights and pictures were all done in early January; so I encourage you to come view the bulls in their home environment prior to the sale as they are growing and changing continually. What an interesting year in 2013!!! Chad and I were married in Las Vegas on December 13, 2013. HD ranching has now become Chad & Vanessa Biesemeyer for the years to come! We are very excited to start this year off with a bang! The bulls look excellent, cows are in great shape and feeder prices have held together with more optimism in the market than ever! The set of bulls we offer this year gain on what we have been striving to achieve in the past. We are starting to understand what a strong group of cows we have and they have really added a maternal side to our program. The Three Trees Objective bull has produced us a great set of ranch bulls! Good travelers to go get the job done and consistency across the table. CDS Alliance 14W has been great, producing phenomenal heifer calves and bulls with a great disposition and growth. These calves have not had any creep feed from start to finish! They are grazed for summer months on grass and when brought in from summer grazing they were put on a high roughage diet. They have been on a 16% all natural lick tub through this time to ensure proper mineral intake throughout. The right of property shall not pass until full settlement is made. All settlement must be made with Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange before any cattle will be released. Disputes In case of disputes, bidding will be re-opened between the parties involved. If no further bid is made, the buyer will be the person from whom the auctioneer accepted the last bid. The auctioneer decision will be final. Purchaser’s risk Each animal becomes the risk of the purchaser as soon as the auctioneer has said sold. Announcements Errors discovered in the catalogue will be corrected by announcements from the auction stand at sale time and such corrections will take precedence over the printed matter in the catalogue. Buyers are cautioned to pay close attention to announcements. Accidents Although every precaution will be taken to protect the safety and comfort of the buyers and guests, neither the High Country bull sale consignors, Southern Alberta Livestock Exchange, or the Pincher Creek Ag. Society assumes any responsibility in this matter and disclaims any liability, legal or otherwise in the event of accident or loss of property. Breeder’s Guarantee All animals sold are guaranteed by the owner. Any animal that has not proven itself to be a breeder within six (6) months after the sale date, if in healthy condition may be returned to the seller at the buyers expense. The seller reserves the privilege of trying for six (6) months to prove the animal a breeder. The seller at their opinion, may either return the purchase price to the buyer or replace the animal with another of equal quality in full settlement of the claims. All yearlings bulls are guaranteed breeders if not used on more than fifteen (15) head of females and are at the full age of fourteen (14) months. The seller is not responsible for damaged caused by foreign bodies after the animal has been sold nor for sickness not apparent at sale time. Bull Criteria All bulls presented for the sale have met or exceeded these minimum standards. Yearling: Charolais - 1200 lbs. as of sale day and have a scrotal measurement of 32 cm. Angus - 1100 lbs. as of sale day and have a scrotal measurement of 32 cm. Two year olds: Charolais - 1750 lbs. as of sale day, Angus 1650 lbs. as of sale day or an equivalent WDA of 2.3 lbs.
