Attempt at Conciliation Protests against Visit of OAS / Only 10 Percent of Officials declare Income and Assets After about 50,000 Haitians have left the Dominican Republic voluntarily because they did not meet the necessary requirements to be included in the naturalization plan, or out of fear that they will be deported and lose everything they have earned during their stay in the country, the tones from Haiti against the Dominican Republic became sharper. Haitian Foreign Minister Lener Renauld claimed there would be no Haitian students and pupils in the racist Dominican Republic – which is simply a lie. Of the total of 67,000 foreigners in schools and universities, according to information of the Ministry of Education, about 56,000 are Haitian nationals. Haitian President Michel Martelly warned of an impending humanitarian disaster in Haiti if the mass deportations will continue. Haiti will not accept deported Dominican citizens. Meant are the descendants of Haitians without documents. The Dominican government denied that to date there have been any deportations of illegal Haitians at all. In addition, there cannot be seen any trace of the announced shelters for deported compatriots on the other side of the border.

The Haitian government called on the Organization of American States (OAS) to intervene in order to prevent mass deportations from the Dominican Republic. When the OAS decided to send a commission to the Dominican Republic and Haiti to monitor and to ease the situation, there was an outcry of the Dominican nationalists. “Interference in internal affairs of a sovereign country!” A small group of fanatics protested outside the offices of the OAS in Santo Domingo (photo), and the notorious “Vinicito” Castillo called to break off diplomatic relations with Haiti and to seal the border and handed over a note of protest to the OAS representative in which he repudiated the interference of the OAS in the internal affairs of the country. On the other hand, the Dominican government welcomed the visit, because it has “nothing to hide”. So the visit to the two countries took place, and both now are waiting for the evaluation of the critical situation by the OAS. “Vinicito” Castillo meanwhile insists, he has found that President Danilo Medina has bowed to the dictates of the OAS and there will be no deportation of illegal Haitians any more.

By law, 1,390 functionaries and officials who hold public offices, were required to disclose their income and their assets until the 8th of June this year. In addition, they were given a 30-day period to submit the declaration belated. Now the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic (CCRD) complained that after the expiry of the period of grace, only 144 of them have submitted the legally required affidavit for assets. 90 per cent of officials, ranging from senators and assemblymen and women, ambassadors and consuls up to the police and the drug agencies obviously think it is not necessary to prove where their income and wealth came from. Representatives of the civil society, including Participación Ciudadana (PC - civic participation) and Fundación Institucionalidad y Justicia (Finjus - Foundation Institutionality and Justice), now demanded President Danilo Medina to comply with his duty and to oust these officials from their office because they are breaking the law. The Asociacón de Jóvenes Empresarios (Young Entrepreneurs Association) called to bring these people to justice.

Latest Survey Clear Lead for President Medina at Gallup-Hoy / Corruption a “very serious Problem” For the first time after the change of the Constitution to allow the presidential reelection, the polling organization Gallup led a survey for the newspaper “Hoy” in early July to find out the disposition in the Dominican population.

The question, who would you vote for if the elections would take place today, was a clear decision for President Danilo Medino. 62 percent of the interviewed would vote for Medina, while his challenger Luis Abinader from the opposition party PRM would just get 17.4 percent. And according to Gallup, only 3.6 percent of the electorate would vote for Guillermo Moreno, whose party Alianza País has still not been approved. The other candidates would at most get up to 1.2 percent. When asked whether they agreeed the constitutional amendment in favor of the reelection of Danilo Medina, 64 percent voted yes. At the same time, however, 52 percent believe that money was paid to move the deputies for approval. Only 26 percent believe that everything was done correctly in this case. 33 percent said they did not agree with the constitutional amendment. 57.4 percent are against the agreement between Danilo Medina and former President Leonel Fernández that Fernández's followers will get the same posts of Senators

and Representatives as they had so far, in exchange for the approval of Fernández to change the constitution. 66.9 percent are against the fact that future candidates for the Senate, the House of Representatives and town halls will be chosen under this aspect, as this was a shame for democracy. As in previous surveys, the list of worries continues to be led by the three themes crime, cost of living and unemployment. The concern about crime has increased from 65 to 66.9 percent since the previous survey in January, despite the assurances of police chief Manuel Castro Castillo, that crime had decreased,. It is amazing that despite the high approval for the president, 87 percent of the interviewed see government corruption as a “very serious problem”. 9.3 percent say that corruption was a “serious problem”, and only one percent cannot detect any corruption in the Dominican Republic. The survey results of Gallup were questioned the other day by New Link Research, where Danilo Medina got 54.1 percent and Luis Abinader 37.3 percent.

Hollywood-style Escape Mexico's most dangerous Drug Lord fled in a Tunnel / New War for Distribution Routes? For the second time, drug lord Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, classified the most dangerous criminal in Mexico, managed to escape from a maximum security prison as if it was in a Hollywood movie, and left the Mexican government look pretty silly. After “El Chapo” could flee from prison in a basket of dirty laundry in 2001, he was free until the 22nd of February 2014 and did his business. At his arrest, he admitted to have killed between 2,000 and 3,000 people. Guzmán was jailed in the maximum security prison of El Altiplano, which was built in 1990 and is considered the most secure prison in Mexico. After nearly 17 months, however, he managed to escape again. And this in spite of rumors that a breakout of the drug lord was planned. On Saturday night, 12th of July, the detainee showed a completely normal behavior on the recorded videos that observe the cell of “El Chapo” around the clock. He went up and down in the cell, sat down, went into the bathroom, ducked into the shower, where there was a blind spot to give him some privacy, came back into the room. Then he went back to the shower and henceforth was never seen again. It is not known how long the guards needed to trigger alarm. When the cell was examined, a 50 by 50 centimeter hole was discovered in the floor at the blind spot of the shower, through which Guzmán fled.

Through this hole, the criminal got ten feet down to a tunnel, which ends in the construction site of a house after 1.5 kilometers (1,640 yards). The tunnel was equipped with a tube system for fresh air and lamps and had a track on which the debris of the excavation has been removed with a motorcycle. The cartel of Sinaloa is a specialist in tunnel construction. Over the years a number of tunnels for drug transport have been discovered at the MexicanAmerican border, which were built in the same way as the escape tunnel. After the escape of the dangerous boss of the Sinaloa cartel, Mexico's President Peña Nieto again came in strong distress. The opposition accused him of corruption, incompetence and complete failure in the anti-drug war. Peña Nieto called the flight “an affront to the Mexican state.” He was deeply shocked about the escape of one of the most wanted criminals in Mexico and the world. Nevertheless, the President has confidence in the state institutions and that the criminal will be apprehended soon. Javier Oliva, a political scientist at the Autonomous University (UNAM), says that this case shows the power of the cartels and how they weaken state structures by corruption and threats. The mistake of the state is still, to fight the consequences of the crime, rather than its causes. The judiciary as well as the penal system are insufficient and need to be fundamentally changed. Shortly after the escape in the “Blog del Narco” on the Internet appeared photos, which show Guzmán sitting among friends with a bottle of beer and as a co-pilot in a small plane. Whether these are new photos is not sure, because “El Chapo” wears a mustache on them.

After the escape of the most dangerous drug lord, there might be new bloody battles among drug cartels as before. However, all drug cartels have been decimated recently and the only dangerous opponent for a reinvigorated cartel of Sinaloa is the Cartel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG), which took over many of the profitable drug routes of the cartel of Sinaloa to the US after the re-arrest of “El Chapo” in 2014 and probably will not return them without fighting for them. After the arrest of Guzmán, battles among his successors weakened the cartel, which no longer had the same power under his successor Ismael “El Mayo”" Zambada.

Pope visits Latin America Recognizing Crimes of Church / Peace Process accelerated / Elections on 9 th of August On his eight-day trip to Latin America, Pope Francis visited Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay. The visit of the Argentine Spiritual Leader of the Catholic Church in Bolivia, in parts became an anticapitalist demonstration during the speech of Bolivian President Evo Morales which the Pope followed in silence. After the meeting, “Brother Pope Francis” demonstratively put on a helmet of the miners and consecrated some of the labor leaders present, whereas most of the Bolivian bishops who are in conflict with the leftist president, quickly left the place. Strong interest was paid to the words of Francis, when he said, “many and serious sins were committed to the Native Americans in the name of God”. However, there have also been many Catholic priests who fought on the side of the poor of their rights. It is not the first time, as Francis said, that a pope apologizes for the colonial period, but his statements were extraordinarily forceful.

President Juan Manuel Santos said that if the peace talks with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) should fail, the war must continue. However the costs for continuing the war were very high, and to defeat the FARC militarily, which is possible, could take up to 25 years. Therefore the Colombian government agreed with the FARC to implement a plan to accelerate the negotiations that are now being conducted in Cuba's capital Havana for three years. This also will include a bilateral ceasefire. Santos said, during his government 64 heads of FARC either have been arrested or killed, including their leader “Alfonso Cano”, who died in November 2011. Now the Colombian people again should become “thrilled” for the peace process. The main open issue is the compensation of the victims of the 50-years-old war in the South American country. In addition, the Colombian Constitution contemplates no amnesty and the people would not accept this for the members of the FARC.

On the 9th of August, the first round of elections of members of the Senate and the municipal administartions will be held in Haiti so that the country can be governed normally again. Since January, when a third of the senators were forced to resign because there could be no elections, which some of them provoked themselves, President Martelly is ruling by decree. The presidential election is scheduled for the 25th of October. Now the Citizen Observatory for the Institutionalization of Democracy (OCID) urged the candidates to moderate in their tone and to refrain from incitement to violence and from the intimidation of other candidates, especially against the members of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). Allegations of corruption by members of the CEP by unapproved candidates would have to be examined quickly. It has to be made sure that in the coming elections there will occur no violent incidents, as it was common in most of the previous elections. Candidates should rather introduce their program than to spread hollow and violent slogans, so that the voters know who they are dealing with.

Successful Fight against AIDS Spreading has stopped, new Infections decline / Eradication of AIDS planned by 2030 The sixth Millennium Goal that had to be achieved by 2015, was to stop the spread of AIDS and to reduce new infections. Now the organization UNAIDS announced that this objective has been achieved. The next ambitious goal is now the eradication of the disease until the year 2030. All together, AIDS killed 39 million people worldwide since its emergence in the eighties of the last century. Last year the figure still was at 1.2 million dead.

In the more than 500-page report “How AIDS changed everything” UNAIDS writes, “The epidemic has been stopped and is in decline.” In 83 countries where 83 per cent of the HIV-infected people live, the spread of the epidemic could be stopped - including some of the most affected countries, such as India, Kenya and South Africa. In 62 countries, AIDS has declined by 20 percent, but it also increased by 20 percent in 56 other countries. The infection in young people declined by 37 per cent worldwide. And to prevent the transmission from mother to child, 73 percent of infected pregnant women received treatment. Cuba is the first country in the world where it has been possible that no child has been infected with HIV or syphilis by his mother at birth. The Cuban Health Minister Roberto Morales Ojeda said that this was possible due to Cuba's health care system and the political will from the top.

While in 2000 less than 700,000 people had access to retroviral drugs, today it is 15 million. Also the Millennium Goal of reducing the price of these drugs has been achieved. In 2000, 10,000 dollars were needed per year and patient, the cost of generics with the same effect today are at just 100 dollars per year and patient. This was only possible because the generics are produced in India, which has not signed the patent protection until 1995 and thus could break the exorbitant prices of the pharmaceutical industry. The number of AIDS orphans in Africa has stabilized with the help of these generics to 14 million. Without them, this figure would be at 22 million. In order to eradicate AIDS by 2030, it is necessary, according to UNAIDS, to achieve the formula 95/95/95: 95 percent of the virus carriers know about their infection, 95 percent of them are treated, and 95 percent suppress their viral load. Also other preventive programs were needed, such as better education of women and youth and an end to discrimination against people with AIDS.

Your Horoscope for August 2015 Aries feels confident / Taurus with Chance to stabilize Finances / Libra will have to sweat

For the implementation of current projects you will not have to spend too many resources. You will solve all problems that you planned to resolve this month. The definition of new life choices and priorities may be an issue. But you cannot do it all at once, so you still have choices to make. There will be no uniquely correct option, because your exalt will provide you with only the options for which you are ready.

This month you can do anything, but - in the long term. Therefore, gradually and steadily move towards agreed upon goals and do not pay attention to detractors and envious. It is now that you will very clearly and vividly understand who is who in your working environment. It will be like a kind of epiphany, this month will give you a huge amount of new information. What to do about this? You have to answer it yourself.

You will feel yourself quite confident and none of the ambiguous situations will be able to throw you off your saddle. If getting into some great contract or a large partnership agreement, then you do not have to doubt your decisions. You should distribute your strength intelligently in order to be successful in time. Whether you will be able to use your energy is another question, which fully depends on your determination.

You will have a real chance to stabilize your financial situation and prepare a solid foundation for father development. If you can, postpone the signing of important agreements and do not get into any partnership deals, right now is not the best time for such activities. You are quite capable of overcoming all of your current problems, but your life strength will be clearly insufficient for unthoughtful actions.

The status-quo presupposes that you need to reject some projects that you previously considered important. Look closer and think - perhaps you spend too many resources lately on things that you do not need? Since not every partnership agreement or deal will end up being the way you want them to. The main thing is your capability of determining a truly important goal. Nevertheless, the stars are fully on your side.

Wars are not won by just defense, so you will have to turn to offensive actions eventually. Focus on those opponents that are closest to you. Try to control the situation, even if you are no close by. Constantly remind others of your presence and forget about being noble for a time, nobility can bring you down. You should not cross a certain line, of course, but it is unlikely that you will even need to.

You will easily solve any problem that will foolishly come between you and your goals. This is a truly great time to make deals or partnership arrangements. At the same time, consider that you should not be accumulating resources for the future. Now is the time to use them, to act, to create! Even if you had other plans, think - should you change something in order to come to a more impressive result?

There will be a few nuances that you should pay attention to. During this month you have the possibility to resolve any, even the most complicate task, connected with your professional orientation. If you wanted to start your business for a long time, then right now is the best time to do so: all of the circumstances will fall right the way you want them to and no one will be capable of stopping you.

In regards to the sphere of finance and business you will have to truly sweat in order to achieve the desired results. It does not matter how many projects you will have to realize - one, two, or five. The situation is fully corresponding to your abilities and is the direct consequence of your choice. Pay attention to how your direct competitors work. It is likely that right now you will have a great possibility to learn something.

Prepare yourself that you will not be able to fulfill all of your current tasks to the highest degree. If you have the ability to, then do not plan any important events for this period, including signing deals or partnership agreements. In the best case scenario, you will not achieve anything from these deals, in the worst case – you will lose a lot. So why risk, if the stars are providing you with concrete directions?

You do not have to apply too much pressure on yourself, as you will be able to resolve all of your dilemmas and fulfill all your tasks that you will put in front of yourself. Do not doubt your strength and pay attention to your relationship with partners. This month you have a real chance to enforce your work alliances and come to even more profitable deals. But do not get too deep into familiarity with the others.

Do not even attempt to realise anything truly massive or very important for either yourself or your business this month. It is most likely that you will fail and will get serious losses in addition to dissatisfaction. At the same time, you should not stay idle no matter what - you should always do something, aim for something, go somewhere, otherwise the influence of your stellar antagonists will fully ruin your life.

The Chilean writer Isabel Allende Llona, daughter of a cousin of the former president of Chile, Salvador Allende, not to be confused with Isabel Allende Bussi, Allende's daughter and head of the Socialist Party of Chile, outed herself in an interview as a marijuana enthusiast. As in some other countries of Latin America, also in Chile there is a heated discussion whether to legalize Cannabis not only for medical, but also for “recreational” purposes. Isabel Allende, the most widely read Spanish-language writer (“The House of the Spirits”) with more than 65 million books sold, translated into 35 languages, said: “All the marijuana that I want is within reach in my handbag, within reach in my home, but I don't like to have a modified awareness, even though to eat a cake of marijuana all of a sudden for making love is great. But I haven't done that in a long time.” Talking about her husband William Gordon, Isabel Allende said, she saw the consequences of criminalization. “He was arrested, and when he was released, he took harder drugs.” She favours the legalzation of pot, even though her husband brought three drug addicted kids into the marriage.

The Dominican musician and composer Fernando Echavarría was “found guilty for the demographic explosion in Colombia”. Through his songs, thousands of Colombians have fallen in love and established families. Fernando Echavarría and his group Familia André are very popular in Colombia and Echavarría himself describes Colombia as his second home. His music is, according to his words, a “fusion” of Afro-Antillean rhythms and melodies based on Son and Merengue.

Ramón Oviedo Painter dies at Age of 91 Ramón Oviedo has been honored as “Illustrious Master of the Dominican Painting” and with a variety of national and international awards. His mural work is on permanent display in the rooms of the Dominican Central Bank, the Supreme Court, the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) and even in the headquarters of the Organization of American States (OAS) in Washington. Born in Barahona in 1924, the artist died at the age of 91 years on the 12th of July.

Odalis Pérez, known as El Secreto El Famoso Biberon (The secret, the famous baby bottle), one of the stars of the much disputed Música urbana, got into a heated discussion with several policemen in Santo Domingo, as they urged him to turn down the volume of the music in his car, when he parked on Avenida España in the capital with some friends. The police demanded his ID card, but he refused to show it. Then there was reportedly a “heated argument” between the star and several police officers who in the end took away an ID card, which identified the singer as a member of the police. In addition, the police tried to confiscate the speakers of his car, which they could not do due to the resistance of the crowd. All the time, El Secreto and his mates filmed the scene with cellphones to put the clips into the Internet afterwards. The singer finally warned the police: “I now have an open case. Therefore, 16 policemen will be suspended from their job one of these days.” Meanwhile El Secreto was excluded as an auxiliary policeman in the project “Barrio Seguro”.

What are these Guys singing? “Pal de velitas” by Mark B feat. El Alfa El Jefe Also the lyrics in this song, as many times in the Música urbana, are not worth discussing. But at least some of the new artists start to make a more professional music. And El Alfa squawks a little less like a figure of a Mickey Mouse comic. Oh, oh, eh eh. Coja, coja, coja … Ay mami, qué es lo que tu dice. A mi me da a toda tu cotice.

Oh, oh, eh, eh. Do I have it fine or bulging? For this little thing I light you some candles. For this little thing I light you some candles ... Without that it rains she sees me and gets wet immediately. When I give it to her, she leaves limping. Without that it rains she sees me and gets wet immediately. When I give it to her, she leaves limping. When I give it to her, she leaves limping. Limping, limping, limping ... For this little thing I light you some candles. I eat you like a chicken wing. You make me fast. And in bed she has more experience than Fefita. You make me, you make me, you make me fast. And in bed she has more experience than Fefita. For this little thing I light you some candles. For this little thing I light you some candles ... Without that it rains she sees me and gets wet immediately. When I give it to her, she leaves limping. When I give it to her, she leaves limping. Limping, limping, limping ... Ay, Mami, what are you saying? It seems to me that you rate everyone. If he is not up to date, no, no, no one comes close to you. When you arrive, you spread fear. You deserve, that they buy you expensive drinks. The tough women don't sing with toads. And I like them that way. For this little thing I light you some candles. For this little thing I light you some candles …

Mark Burdier was born in Washington Heights in New York City as the son of Dominican immigrants on the 18th of November 1987. Due to his father, who is a choreographer and singer in several orchestras, Mark came in touch with the music business from an early age. Since some time now, Mark B is trying to gain a musical foothold in the Dominican Republic, by cooperating with the most popular artists of the Música urbana, such as El Mayor Clásico, Vakeró, El Poeta Callejero, for whom he was singing the second voice for quite a time, or now in the featured song with El Alfa El Jefe. El Alfa, his real name is Enmanuel Herrera, recently got the best promotion when he had to clean the Plaza de la Bandera after insulting the fathers of the fatherland.

Hellish

X-Sudoku

Blondes

The Devil himself shows his Hell to the newcomer and explains gently, “My Hell is divided into three departments.” The first room, the devil shows, has a rough stone floor and everyone in there is making a headstand. In the second room there is a beautiful wooden floor and also all the inmates are making a headstand. “And this,” said Satan, as they come to the third room, “this could be your room if you decided so!” In the room, everyone is standing ankledeep in foul-smelling shit and drinks a bottle of beer with great delight. The new potential inmate says, “Okay, Satan, here it looks alright for me. Here you can poke me in!” Satan nods as he's leaving. Then the door closes and through the door there is heard the booming voice of the infernal custodian, “The break is over, you chesse dicks! Make your headstand now!”

Each row, column and square has to contain the numbers from 1 to 9. X-Sudoku must show these numbers also on the two diagonal lines. Solutions on page 12.

A pretty blonde comes into casino. She announces that she will put all her money on one single number. While the ball comes into play, she says to the two responsible employees: “I don't think that it's interesting for you, but I have more good luck when I play naked.” Then she strips completely nude and puts her chips on the table. Slightly aroused, the croupier spins the roulette and the blonde starts to sing: “Mama needs new clothes, Mama needs new clothes ...” When the ball stops rolling, she jumps up and yells, “I won! I won!” Then she hugs and kisses the two croupiers, collects all the chips on the table, puts on her clothes quickly and disappears. The two croupiers stand there, look at each other, open-mouthed. Finally, the one asks the other, “Which number did she play actually?” The other croupier replies, “I have no idea. I thought you paid attention to it.” The moral of the story: Not all blondes are stupid, but all men are the same!

Sudoku No. 299 (easy)

A ventriloquist holds a show in front of a group of blondes and of course he tells a few jokes about blondes. Eventually one of the blondes gets angry, jumps up and calls, “Hey, you bastard, what kind of stories are you telling about stupid blondes? We are far not that stupid as you want to suggest all the time!” “Relax, lady, it's just jokes,” the ventriloquist tries to calm her. The blonde says, “I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to the little scumbag who sits on your knee!”

At the Doctor's A man went to see his doctor because he was suffering from a miserable cold. His doctor prescribed some pills, but they didn't help. On his next visit the doctor gave him a shot, but that didn't do any good either. On his third visit the doctor told the man to go home and take a hot bath. As soon as he was finished bathing he was to throw open all the windows and stands in the draft. “But doc,” protested the patient, “if I do that, I'll get pneumonia.” “I know,” said his physician. “But I can cure pneumonia.”

A man goes to the doctor and tells him that he hasn't been feeling well. The doctor examines him, leaves the room and comes back with three different bottles of pills. The doctor says, “Take the green pill with a big glass of water when you get up. Take the blue pill with a big glass of water after lunch. Then just before going to bed, take the red pill with another big glass of water.” Startled to be put on so much medicine the man stammers, “Jeez doc, exactly what's my problem?” The Doctor says, “You're not drinking enough water.”

A psychiatrist was a guest at a party and his host, Fred, naturally broached the subject in which the doctor was most at ease. ”Would you mind telling me,” Fred asked, “how you detect a mental deficiency in somebody who appears totally normal?” “Nothing is easier,” the doctor replied. “You ask him a simple question which everyone should answer with no trouble. If he hesitates, that puts you on the track.” “What sort of question?” “Well, you might ask him, Captain Cook made three trips around the world and died during one of them. Which one?” Fred thought for a moment, and then said with a nervous laugh, “You wouldn't happen to have another example would you? I must confess I don't know much about history.”
