BANDIT

Performed by BRIAN O’RIORDAN

Bandit: 1. An outlaw or a highway man. 2. One who takes unfair advantage of others. 3. One who runs a race without a number. A man stands unnoticed at the start line, he readies himself for his first ever marathon. He has returned home after 6 years of being declared a ‘missing person’. He has come back to face his past. No Bandit has ever won the Dublin City Marathon – he plans to tackle 26.2 miles and be the first. ‘As we get closer and closer to the finish line, we get closer to the core of his story, which makes perfect metaphorical sense.’ - Irish Theatre Magazine Developed as part of Show in a Bag, an artist development initiative of Dublin Fringe Festival, Fishamble: The New Play Company and Irish Theatre Institute to resource theatre makers and actors.

Under Pressure

Written and directed by award winning playwright Helena Enright. Kevin and his friend Ronan make a decision one New Year’s Eve that has consequences neither of them can imagine. Written using the documentary style with particular reference to Theatre of Testimony, a form of theatre which fuses real people’s words with intimate storytelling, Under Pressure reminds us that driving brings with it a responsibility both to ourselves and to others that we should never forget. Sometimes when under pressure the choices we make affect not only our own lives but the lives of others forever.

Performed by: Aidan Crowe, Zeb Moore and Chris Rowley. Originally developed as part of an Interactive Theatre and Education Programme commissioned by Devon County Council’s Road Safety Unit and Exstream Theatre Company (2008) UK.
