Rose B, who is back-up singer for Bushman, Sanchez and Leroy Sibbles. Rose B and I did a collaboration entitled “Don’t Be Shy” which will soon be released. We will be shooting the video for that single in Jamaica in the next coming weeks. RX: Challenges you have faced in the business so far? PB: Some of the challenges I have been facing are with friends who are not real in this music industry; who don’t want to see you reach the top. RX: Your opinion on radio in Canada. PB: My opinion on Canadian radio stations is that they need to start giving Canadian artistes more air play. That will give us more opportunities as new artistes so we can get established. RX: Anything else you would like to add? PB: Yes, all reggae personnel should show more love and support to all Canadian reggae artistes for their talents because it is not about favoritism.

RX: Who is Patcha Blacks? PB: Patcha Blacks is a very talented artiste. RX: What’s the story behind your name? PB: In my community I was known as Bishop, when I came to Canada the name Patcha Blacks was given to me by another artiste and I continued to use that name. RX: Where does Patcha hail from? PB: Patcha Blacks hails from the beautiful parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica. RX: Why did you pursue a career in music? PB: I have always been passionate about music at a tender age. So music has always been in my heart and soul for a long time. I have been behind the scene as a producer for some time and a few years ago I decided to bring my passion and talent to the people of reggae music. Most of all it is to spread love to the people and reduce violence. RX: Name your first single, who produced it? PB: The name of my first single is “So Real” which was produced by PB Records. RX: Singles and albums you released? PB: So far I have released nine singles and the album is in the making to be released early summer. RX: How about your new single with Mr. Eazy? PB: My new project is with recording artiste

RX: Something about Patcha we don’t know PB: Patcha Blacks is for the people, always helping, loving and showing compassion to everyone around me; even strangers. Patcha Blacks used to be a mechanic, so I know everything about vehicles; and I work part time as a car salesman. RX: Where can your fans find you on Social Media? PB: You can find Patcha Blacks on Facebook, Instagram, Spotify and YouTube just by searching for Patcha Blacks; my personal website is coming soon. I want to take this time to say a huge thank you to my sponsors Shawn Sheikh of Ready Honda and Bobby Tut of Juris Litigators.

said Patcha Blacks.” Patcha Blacks was in the Island recently promoting the set’s title track “Moving Forward” which is the first single from the project. “The feedback I got when I visited Jamaica in December was awesome. Everywhere I went to promote “Moving Forward” I received a warm reception,” he said. Patcha Blacks is scheduled to return in April to shoot a video for “Don’t Be Shy”, another single off the album. “This song has all the right ingredients to be a hit; the rhythm is tight, and the lyrical exchange between me and Rose is hot. We’re going to shoot a nice video for this song and put a lot of promotion behind it,” he said.

On International Women’s Day, Vonnii performed at Sistahfest in Toronto, leaving the audience speechless with her words of wisdom and her memorable performance, inspiring women of all ages. Her passion on the stage came out when she was about to begin singing her next song “Good Good So” which features her father, Desi Ranks, who is an artiste, producer, engineer, CEO of 3Mirage Studio and, not to mention, her manager. She began to talk about her relationship with her father, while she was on stage, and tears began to make their way to her eyes. She has been performing since the tender age of four, and in all the years of her experience, this was the first time she had ever cried on stage. She continued to touch the audience’s hearts with her words, and her father came up to the stage to hug her. Vonnii told the children in the audience to follow their dreams and preached to the parents in hopes that they would support their children’s dreams and goals as much as her father has for her. Her aim is that her music and her way of life will inspire more and more people all over the world.

Macka Diamond was the main feature at Sistahfest, and Vonnii has actually directed and engineered Macka’s new single “Missing U”, which is soon to be released on all platforms. She also co-engineered and directed Spotlight’s “Forever Black” on the same riddim. Her father, Desi Ranks is also on the riddim with “In a Di Copter”. Vonnii also engineered and mixed RX: Tell us something about Arlene Donna Makeda’s newest single, “Vegan Dinna”, produced by Desi Ranks that we do not know. of 3Mirage Studio. Currently, Vonnii is finalizing her EP for release early AB: I’ve been helping people for 33 summer 2019. She is the producer and engineer and owns 100% rights to years, as a Nurse, Social Worker, her EP. Look out for her on shows across Canada for the rest of the year. Counselor and spiritual advisor. Into The Dancehall Show (Montreal) By: Brian Kotler

Exco Levi

Pinchers Lt. Stitchie 2019 came in like a lion in Montreal with the “Into the Dancehall” this past February 17th. Starring Lt. Stitchie, Tiger, Pinchers and Exco Levi and they were all backed by live bands; with music by DJ Joshua Lucas and hosted by Pat Dillion and Denise Jones. The vibes in Montreal were incredible at the Jamaica Association of Montreal where it was a SOLD OUT show.

Shine Roc’s first single, “Crocodile Tears” from his upcoming album “Real Rebel”, has already taken over the airwaves, with listeners far and wide requesting its replay on multiple media platforms. It continues to gain popularity in the clubs as DJs and selectors keep it on rotation. “Crocodile Tears” is an authentic roots reggae single with pop and rock undertones. This single “Crocodile Tears” can be found on iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon Music and Youtube. Follow Shine Roc on Instagram and Facebook

Tiger

Even in the packed venue, the people really enjoyed the show from start to finish, vibes were so nice nobody complained when it went into extra overtime and finished well after midnight and the next morning was work for most people. Veteran artists Lt. Stitchie, Tiger and Pinchers gave the masses their full one hundred and Exco Levi was right up there with them. Exco’s tribute to Garnett Silk was awesome. I have to give props to Jones & Jones for adding Montreal to the tour and I certainly wish more Toronto promoters would follow their lead. I only hope that this event sets the trend for 2019 in Montreal.

WAR OF THE BRAINS “Your God tied us with chains; Our God comfort us in pain; Your God held us as slaves; Our God broke the chains; Now war of brains” ~ Words by Lenn Hammond I was grateful to read those words this very morning. A simple glance at worldwide circumstances confirms the abuses of “colonialism” destroying the human spirit which was pushed through their God. Those abuses continue today as is boldly evident in the US, everyday in the news. This is no mystery. Burning of Nike products because a black athlete pointed clearly to police brutality; they made it about a flag, an anthem and patriotism. Just avoid the topic at hand; police brutality.

“Your God held us as slaves”. Duuhhhhh. We’re still doing a slave thing today. It still a gwaan with everyone, especially the “woke” one dem. Calm down; if you so “woke” you know what to do. Talking and screaming at the top of your voice who is to blame or racism or political correctness or AI {Artificial Intelligence}, veganism, voting, government cutting student loans, expensive real estate Toronto are all distractions, and while you get upset by any or all and more, we can go on a march or hold hands or peace protest something else, but the truth is, “woke” ones are either doing it or they are not. They are not speaking about it. They are doing it; changing it. “Our God broke the chains”; Perfection. “Now war of brains”; “War” implies violence so that excites them. They are adept at violence. Best distraction ever; Fear. Keep the abused scared. It is how they “win”, every time. They are still trying to scare educated humans that The Black Panther, Move, Watts, The Congo, blah, blah blah. The “brains” is the movement{s} needed for upliftment of the human family. It forces you to think for yourself. That is where our challenge lies.

to keep the lungs strong and healthy, as it plays a crucial role in one’s livelihood. Here are some things you can begin to incorporate in your daily routine as we move into the season of spring, a time to cleanse and renew.

CLEANSING THE LUNGS By: Trisha Smith R.H.N www.aderoherbals.com

T

he Lungs are the hardest working organ in our bodies. It expands and contracts up to 20 times a minute to supply our red blood cells with oxygen. The oxygen is then distributed throughout the body to keep our body systems functioning at an optimal level. The Lungs are also responsible for ridding the body of Carbon Dioxide, a “waste gas” that makes the body acidic and more prone to disease. It is a known fact that no disease can thrive in oxygenated cells, so it is important

Avoid a high sugar diet as it irritates the lungs and impedes its function; Water is full of oxygen molecules that will assist in organ function, energy levels and detoxification. Take your weight and divide it by 2, drop the “0” or add a decimal. This equals how many glasses of water you should drink a day (i.e. 150lbs/2=75=7.5 glasses a day); Some foods that help cleanse the lungs include radishes, almonds, winter squash, onion, mustard greens, water chestnuts and watercress; Coltsfoot and Thyme Leaf steeped in tea form, promote drainage of mucus from the lungs, it soothes the bronchial and disinfects airways; Chrysanthemum and Honeysuckle tea is great for smokers as it helps detoxify the lungs while it nourishes and strengthens lung cells; Skullcap and Rosemary herbs steeped in tea form are great antiinflammatories, anti-viral and antimicrobial herbs that helps to clear up lung infections, soothes acute asthma attacks and relaxes the muscle tissue; Stay away from cigarettes or any form of smoke as it increases the amount of carbon dioxide in the body. DESI RANKS

D

SOUNDCLASH IS STILL ALIVE

O

ne of the original styles of dancehall events was the Soundclash, a form of DJ battle that originated in the 1950’s. Seventy years later it’s still an interest to the growing fan base worldwide. May 25th, 2019 two Sounds will meet in Toronto, and battle it out for bragging rights and a trophy in Sudden Death Soundclash. Although One a Day selector Polly Famous lives in Toronto, this event is being taken as neutral grounds One a Day Sound was founded in 2008 in Philadelphia, with original members, George, Andrew and Chris. Later on joining the team was Gary Hundred, Outlaw and Polly Famous. Some of their greatest accomplishments thus far include a recent tour of Japan, with tours in Europe and Africa coming up in the near future

esi Ranks has been burning the candle at both ends for a long time now. In Dec 2018 he turned it up a notch and added more to his over filled plate. Last December he released his seven track EP entitled “Life” on his own 3 MIRAGE label and in January and February 2019 has dropped a few new singles whilst voicing for various producers. The title track “Life” is being played in Jamaica now with Mr. Bertus and I-Wayne’s “They Have No Love”. Desi is not just an artiste but also a producer and engineer and has worked on a lot of music currently on the market. He is producing Donna Makeda’s brand new song “Vegan Dinna” on the Happy Riddim on the 3 MIRAGE label. Donna Makeda is a Toronto based veteran female Dancehall Reggae artiste who has some fire burning real hard on this track. A sure hit! 3 MIRAGE Studio (see back cover) is located close to downtown Hamilton which is an easy forty minute drive from Toronto and is the favorite of a few other veteran artistes. Blessed’s JUNO nominated song “Money Don’t Grow Pon Trees” was engineered there, also Horace Martin’s album entitled “Arise”, is in its final mixing stages. Vonnii’s track “Back to Destiny” on the all female album “Queens in the Arena” was engineered there. The album is produced by Chyna Nicole on the Nico Star Music label; Chyna also has a track on the album entitled “Amazing”. The studio is also a favorite for Leroy Gibbons who is also working on his gospel album there.

King Shine Sound was founded in the mid 90’s in Kansas City, and migrated to New Jersey mid 2000’s. This team is made up of Jimmy Spliff and Sample Slew Dem, they boast charisma, extensive musical knowledge and great team strategy, allowing them to always be prepared for good competition, and has earned the right to represent the Garden State in Veteran female Dancehall artiste Macka Diamond made a stop there in February today’s Sound Clash arena. 2019 and came out with her first one drop

reggae “Missing U” on the Free Flow riddim. Also on the riddim is Desi Ranks with “In a Di Copter” and Spotlight with “Forever Black”. All three tracks are in rotation in Jamaica now. On her second visit to Canada this year for Sistafest on March 8th, Macka Diamond stopped by the studio and will be working on a couple more reggae songs before she heads off to Zimbabwe. There is something about being around Desi Ranks, the 3 MIRAGE environment and his daughter Felicia Maragh aka Vonnii, who is also a Producer, Vocal Coach and an Engineer with crazy ideas. Her EP is in its final stage; and she was also the lead engineer on Donna Makeda’s and Macka Diamond’s projects. Desi Ranks is working with a few other artistes in Canada and Jamaica. Look out for more Desi this year hitting the stage from Brantford to Hamilton, Toronto, Montreal, Edmonton Alberta and Jamaica. Follow Desi on his journey and stay updated via his Instagram @OfficialDesiRanks, Facebook @Desi Ranks, YouTube @Desi Ranks and SoundCloud @Desi Ranks.

SISTAFEST 2019

U

Alicia Cinnamon

Vonnii

pfront Theatre Foundation and Empress of Zion Canada, in recognition of International Women’s Day, presented a show called Sistafest 2019 on Friday March 8th at the Jamaican Canadian Center in Toronto. A most fitting day to present such an occasion, I only wish I could have seen a packed audience, with many more women representing. Mind you, I only got there on time for the stage show as there was a Health and Wellness Community Fair during the day starting from 3 pm to 8 pm. Rayzalution Band was the first onstage. This all female band is one of the hottest rising bands in Toronto currently. These girls can play and sing, they have been taking charge onstage in Jamaica and Canada, with such talent they will definitely go a long way in the music industry. Alicia Cinnamon then took the stage and performed songs like “Singing the Jade Blues”, “Liar’s Game” and “I Can’t breathe”. She also did a monologue for the play Faith “Reasoning with My Sisters”, produced by Masani Productions and was well received. Alicia is always on her A-game and has been making quite a name for herself in the Reggae music arena. After that, the new singing sensation Vonnii came onstage, tearing it up as usual. With her original sound and sweet vocals, she did not fail to please the mixed audience of young and old folks who came out to support. Belting out songs like “Couldn’t Be” and “Back to Destiny”, she went from note to note effortlessly. Vonnii is not afraid to reach out to the audience; she works onstage like she is a matured artiste who has been in the business for many years. The world will soon hear more about Vonnii, memba mi tell yuh. Jade Faith lit up the stage as she entered, looking like a million dollars in her stunning outfit. She did an amazing job with her hit songs “A suh we roll” and “Thank God Fi Mi Ever Blessing”. This artiste has been on an upward move musically and the world needs to hear and see more Jade Faith. The headliner for Sistafest was “Ms Money Oh” Macka Diamond, who came out hot and ever ready in her black ‘one piece’ outfit and her ‘money green’ hair; showing off her new, sleek and sexy ‘vegan body’. With songs like “Dye Dye”, “Bun Him”, “Hoola Hoop” and “Steam Fish” to name a few, Macka had her fans dancing and shouting for her to ‘pull up’. But it was not until she delivered her new hit single “My Best Friend” that the crowd fully joined in, singing and sweeping out the bad mind. Macka even had two dancers with brooms sweeping out the badmind in the JCA. Overall, it was a great show, just more support needed. Respect goes out to the promoters on another well put together production.

MONTREAL’S SKY DONALD MCDONALD HAWK SOUND AKA POLLY POMPIE

J

unior B is the owner of Sky Hawk Sound and the Vice President of Montreal Soundfest. The Montreal Soundfest will be held on August 17th this year. Their home base is in Montreal Quebec. They have been around since the early 90’s. They are the top rental in sound systems in Montreal. They also do corporate and private events. There is nothing too big or small that they can’t provide you with.

By: T. Boots Harris

D

onald “Polly Pompie” McDonald’s contribution to reggae music has been tremendous. His introduction to music started in Spanish Town in the 1970’s. When record producer Harry Moodie promoted stage shows at the renowned Spanish Town’s ‘Town Hall’. These shows produced artistes such as Dennis Walks, I-Roy, Areana and Donald McDonald aka Polly Pompie who vividly remembers those historic ‘Town Hall’ shows; and backing Sky Hawk will provide you with the quality sound you need and a first class bands such as the Wright Brothers service for your every occasion. They can be contacted at 514 621 7275 and Red Dirt Band, all home grown musicians. or by email at skyhawksound@yahoo.com. Donald’s first recordings were done in 1989, the year of hurricane Gilbert which literally leveled Jamaica. He recorded a cover of “Goodnight My Love” and Paul Anka’s “Put Your Head On My Shoulder” for producer Roy Francis of Mixing Lab Studio. He also recorded “Dr. Love” and Engelbert Humperdinck’s “Last Waltz” for producer Bunny Gemini. He worked the hotel circuit which included ‘Couples’ before he migrated to Canada in 1990 where he completed High School. Donald was introduced to Toronto’s Jamaica Day Celebration by a show promoter named Bobby Zaro and from there his singing career took off. Bobby Zaro invited him to sing a few songs on Toronto’s Hotel and Night Club scene to a packed club. The reception was beyond all expectations. He became one of the most in demand singers on the Toronto Club and Hotel circuit after that performance. Donald McDonald’s contribution to reggae music over the last fifteen years has been tremendous. He has been featured in every major entertainment newspaper and magazine that features Caribbean Music and Culture. His input and impact on the International audiences especially throughout Canada, has been well documented. He has been described as a revolutionary spirit that brings into sharp focus an in-depth understanding of Reggae and Rastafari spiritual music. This is the foundation on which he has relied, in regards to directing his path as an entertainer, songwriter and singer. His production company ‘Greenfield Productions’ is based in Toronto, Canada. Along with his partner Herbert Dayes; a former trainer of Jamaica’s boxing legend Percy Hayles, he has propelled the Company’s music into the hearts of the conscious, while also impacting on a hype driven generation who are always searching for a positive message. Polly Pompie’s music echoes a call to consciousness and at this point in time, songs such as “Real Prophet”, “Hot Girl”, “Dutch Pot”, “Mighty Hand” - a Gospel flavored song that connects spiritually along with the title track “Mama Africa”, are indeed gems that will stand the test of time. There is no doubt that the dust is settling in Jamaica’s Reggae arena, it is filled with many artistes who are called; but one of the chosen has emerged to take his rightful place within the fraternity of Jamaican music. Donald McDonald aka Polly Pompie, the son of Hazel and Frank McDonald is the fourth of seven children. Polly Pompie comes to mind especially when the subject is Reggae music on an International level. reggaeXclusive -- Web Site: www.reggaexclusive.com --- Phone: 416-519-0831 -- Email: reggaexclusive@rogers.com Pg - 16

advice and guidance regarding his music. On one occasion, Bob invited Andrew Zion to his studio while he was recording “Smile Jamaica; the following morning, Andrew heard on the news that Bob had been shot at his home and that was the last time he had contact Bob.

ANDREW ZION

A

ndrew Carty aka Zion was born in Kingston, Jamaica. He was musically influenced by some of the greatest Reggae musicians like Wailing Soul, Alton Ellis, Jimmy Tucker, Ken Boothe and Bob Marley to name a few. His first public appearance singing was at age seven on a children’s talent program called Ring Ding. The Ring-Ding show was hosted by Louise Bennet, Jamaica’s poetic and folk lore icon. Andrew’s first recording was at Randy’s Studio and Record Retail Outlet in Downtown Kingston, Jamaica with Sly Dunbar on drums and Ansel Collins on keyboard. During this time, his adopted brother Lloyd ‘Foggy’ Stevens introduced him to Bob Marley as his little brother who needed some help in his musical career. Bob gave Andrew his home address and he visited him on many occasions and was given

Andrew then migrated to Canada in 1982 and continued singing. His first recording was at Classic Sound Recording Studio. He released songs like “Classic Rise Again” and “Temporary Lovers” on the Classic Sound Label during the 80s and 90s; and “Love Jah” on the Prince Everald Meets Mother Liza CD. During that time, he did many shows with some major dancehall artistes like Lady Saw, Shabba Ranks, Papa San, Lt. Stitchie, President Brown, Admiral Tibet, Yami Bolo and many others. Andrew then took a break from music to attend George Brown College for a course in professional cooking. After completing his course, he restarted his musical career and was approached by Andrew Amoha who had a vision for a Bob Marley tribute band. He agreed with the idea so Andrew Amoha organized the musicians and the band “Kaya” was born. Kaya performed at the Hamilton Festival and other venues in Hamilton, Toronto, Cambridge, St. Catherine and Niagara Falls. The band also made an appearance on City TV’s Breakfast Television. Sometime after that, the band dissolved. Andrew Zion then moved to Calgary, Alberta. After arriving in Calgary, he met Explosion Band. They performed at various events like Calgary Reggae Festival, Taste of Calgary and Carifest. Andrew’s most recent performance was in February 2019 at Station on Jasper for the Bob Marley Birthday Celebration; and in 2018, at the Caribbean Black History Celebrations and the Fort McMurray Food Festival.

he still maintained his zeal to establish himself as a Reggae Artiste. “I started out as LA Rock, releasing songs in the nineties like “Drink, Don’t Drive”, “Evil ah Gwan” and “Humble Yourself Youthman”; a time when live reggae music was prominent. I’ve had the pleasure of working with some of Toronto’s finest musicians like Bernie Pitters, Tony Cameron, RZee Jackson and Highfield to name a few,” said Shine Roc.

SHINE ROC

A

s his stage moniker strongly suggests, Shine Roc proves to be a shining light in the musical world with his unique style and sound that continues to influence listeners every day. As a native of Kingston, Jamaica, his passion for music was quite evident from a young age and he always had the desire to reach a wide range of listeners with his dancehall and roots reggae sound fusion. Having written numerous songs, his position in music remains steadfast as a result of his songwriting skills, personal musical vision and eclectic diversity heard in his music. As a teenager, Shine Roc developed an overwhelming interest in the musical and lyrical content of artistes such as Barrington Levy, Admiral Tibet, Ernie Smith, Jimmy Cliff, Beres Hammond and Bob Marley. Ironically, when Shine Roc migrated to Canada in the early nineties, he did not immediately pursue his musical career. Instead, he teamed up with his brother to promote local dances and stage shows. Although he continued to surround himself in the reggae music scene as a music promoter,

As a culturally loving artiste, songwriter and producer, Shine’s radiance is also apparent in his debut album “Life”; a proud work of Shine Roc’s which features hit singles “I’m a Winner” and “Don’t Bust It”. “Don’t Bust It” was number one for many weeks on CHRY 105.5FM (now VIBE105FM) chart (Zion Train program) and stayed on the charts for months, even receiving the Award for Song of the Year. Past and present, he consistently works on touching many through catchy melodies and still manages to shed light on political issues that he is passionate and outspoken about. His sophomore album “Real Rebel” speaks to the rebel in everyone. The “Real Rebel” album is a Jamaican reggae grass roots style with a little bit of Folk, Rock, and Pop flavor. It is the perfect mix of Roots, Culture and Lovers Rock that combines sonically appeasing live sounds with the help of his backing band Rebel Vibrations. “This album is long coming, designed for the time, representing the time and very necessary for the time. It’s different, from the everyday concept of life; this album is an exotic take on life,” stated Shine Roc. No listener is disappointed after hearing the sounds of Shine Roc and he continues to fulfill his calling of shining bright on a daily basis and remains a true Rock in Reggae Music.

resented by Rebel Vibez in association with VIBE105, STAGES CANADA has gone international with a sponsorship by Fresh Start 4 Youth Services. With their first stop being in Jamaica in January, founder Carrie Mullings’ goal is to bridge the gap between Canada and Jamaica, while attaining more exposure for artistes who participate in this international musical exchange program. After years of being involved in the reggae industry as a radio personality, artiste manager, producer and chair of the Juno’s music advisory committee; Carrie saw the need for an international exchange of talent with export preparedness for reggae artistes in the Diaspora. With an amazing crew, Carrie and In the photo L-R is Jahunique, Carrie the STAGES International team showcased over 20 Mullings, I-Noah & Nature Ellis hand selected artistes who all had the opportunity to perform and network amongst a crowd of industry professionals. “With 147 submissions and many WhatsApp inquiries, I am convinced the International move searching for the best talent Jamaica has to offer was long overdue. We will feature up and coming talent within the country, who lack the finances, exposure and support to have their talent displayed,” says Mullings. Canadian and Jamaican reggae artistes alike, now have a platform designed for them to flourish after receiving guidance, mentoring and exposure. INEZI SIGNS WITH USA RECORD LABEL

H

oratio Flowers better known as “Inezi” lives and loves music! Hailing from St. Catherine, Jamaica and attending Dint-hill High School, Inezi quickly realized he loved music and wanted to do more than singing; he realized he wanted to pursue writing music with socially conscious messages while creating original riddims. While at Dint-hill High School in St. Catherine, he recruited others and formed the Acapella singing group “H5”. The group then entered in the very first Digicel Rising Stars TV Show, performing soulful ballads and winning the audience votes. Although they did not win the top prize they were placed in the top five. In 2007, after regrouping, recreating and writing his own socially conscious lyrics, he renamed the group “Conscious” and entered the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall and did very well. Such hard work and motivation caught the eye of Marlene Dallas of Ms. Dallas Productions, a UK based company. She had him work with such notables as Sting Ray Records, Leroy Mafia Studio, DJ Hans and the legendary Calvin Francis. They all took part in molding and guiding Inezi and his career. They collaborated and worked with Inezi and set the stage for him to be where he is today. While with Ms. Dallas Productions, Inezi gained a huge fanbase in the UK, Gambia and Senegal. His Gambian and UK fans are looking forward to his African tour. His most recent single “Roots and Culture” which he worked on with Teflon Zincfence is well received and doing so well that it is the most requested song in Senegal. UK based DJ Hans is on tour and he is taking Inezi’s music to his fans and fans to be. Inezi recently signed with New Vision One Record; a US based record label; under this new label he has released his new single called “Straight Away”, which is available on all social and digital platforms. Inezi also recently interviewed with DJ Prestige on STYLZ FM radio and callers and listeners could not get enough of his socially conscious single. MARVA GILLESPIE IS A MUSICAL GEM

Look out for Donna Makeda’s New Single “VEGAN DINNA” Coming Soon!

M

arva Gillespie, Singer, Songwriter, Clothes Designer and Seamstress just to name a few of her God given talents; is a blessed October born daughter of Zion, who hails from the Tribe of Dan. “Dan shall judge the people as one of the Twelve Tribes of Israel. I have waited for thy salvation Oh Lord”. Woman is saved through child bearing and Marva Gillespie is a mother of twelve talented children. Her musical career took roots from a tender age while attending St. Patrick’s Primary School where Marva used to perform at school concerts and realized from an early age that this was her mission. Guided by the hands of the Lord, Marva became a member of the Twelve Tribes of Israel in 1974, founded by Prophet Gad since 1968. The theme songs of the Twelve Tribe of Israel, the hymns and the National Anthem of Ethiopia, exercise our meditation and vocal cords. Singing praises to the Lord continually, and nurtured with the knowledge of the Holy Bible by reading a chapter a day, she was inspired to write songs such as: “Naw leave The Faith”, “Everyone Is Talking About Jah”, “Judgement”, and the list goes on. Marva’s first appearance was on the Dennis Brown Charity concert, held at the Haile Selassie I Carib Theatre, on November 2, 1981. She received an encore which propelled her to many more shows such as “Movements of music” at the National Arena on December 20, 1986, with such artistes as Freddie McGregor, Dennis Brown, Judy Mowatt, Sophia George, Jah Lenks and Cherry Rock. On the battlefield Marva trod, and never gave up the faith. She also performed at “Reggae Harvest” in February 1998 which featured Marcia Griffiths; ‘Empower Me’ in March 1998, whose theme was “Woman in Reggae”. Marva also performed on the ‘Free I’ show at Kirkvine in Mandeville in April 1998 with artistes such as Sizzla, Mikey General, Luciano, Kulcha Knox, Angie Angel and Iniqua, Andrew Tosh and Papa Biggy. Marva’s trod is now taking her across the waters to Europe on tour which is the stepping stone that will take her to the Motherland, Africa. She performed in 2012 in Africa for the Crown Prince at the Ethiopian Royal Ball. She then went to perform in America at the 40th Anniversary for the Twelve Tribe of Israel and also performed at the Twelve Tribe Headquarters at Hope Road, Kingston Jamaica. Her most recent performance was at Rebel Salute in January 2019 where Marva mashed up the stage along with her very talented daughter Empress Tashai aka Glamma T. Marva designed and made the “Money Suit” for Macka Diamond. She also goes into schools to teach the youths how to crotchet and knit so they will be able to make a living and to be independent. Right now Marva is currently teaching Tony Rebel’s granddaughter how to crotchet. Marva G is an artiste who doesn’t have a record on the road to date, but her dynamic stage performances speak for themselves. She works her stage with vibrancy and enthusiasm and you feel what she’s feeling. Marva is an artiste who has won Best Dressed and Best Performance at Mandela Green. She has faith and perseverance. Give thanks to the Most High for this daughter of Zion; she has seen Mount Zion in his eyes. For further information contact Empress Tashai at: 1 (203) 822-0235 or Email: empresstashai@yahoo.com.
