On 15 July, 2021 Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the iconic Shivaling shaped “Rudraksha International Convention Centre” in Varanasi. The Centre is ideally located in the heart of City, in Sigara area of the town. It is spread over three acres of land. It is constructed with the assistance of the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and is the symbol of Indo-Japan Friendship. 108 Rudrakshas are installed in the convention Centre and give glimpse of the ancient city of Kashi. It is a two-story building and the roof is shaped like Shiva Linga. At night, the entire building will glow with LED lights. ‘Rudraksha', will be a well-equipped convention center, comprising of a main hall with a full flying tower, a seating capacity of 1,200, a gallery, meeting rooms, and parking for 120 cars. The main hall may be partitioned into smaller spaces when required. VCC is also planned to be an environment-friendly building, fit for Level 3 of Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment (GRIHA). VCC will be equipped with adequate security and safety systems, with a regular entrance, a service entrance and a separate VIP entrance, making it an ideal destination for holding all types of international conventions. This state-of-the-art centre will make Varanasi an attractive destination for conferences thus drawing more tourists and business persons to the city. The convention can host all types of international conventions, concerts and exhibitions and will

boost the MICE movement in Varanasi. Apart from convention many other project were open to boost Tourism in Varanasi. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also inaugurated a multi-level parking at Godauliya, Ro-Ro vessels for tourism development on the River Ganga and three-lane flyover bridge on the Varanasi-Ghazipur highway. Now a state-of-the-art cruise and two Ro-Ro boats with a capacity of about 200 people will be facilitating tourists. Now two Ro-Ro boats will take tourists to the different ghats of Varanasi, these boats are named after Swami Vivekananda and Sam Manik Shah. Ro-Ro boats will also be used for public transport, so that there will be less traffic load on the road. Ro-Ro boats and cruises will not only run during morning and evening aarti at Ganga Ghats, it will also sail in the river Ganga during the day so that people can travel for their daily work. One can also book it under a special tour package and take it to places like Shool Tankeshwar, Kaithi Chunar etc. The interior of the cruise will carry religious and spiritual views of Kashi along with the history and heritage of Kashi. Inside the cruise, there is a large screen to give information to the tourists. Audio video will also be played on the screen. With an aerial view of 84 Ghats starting from Assi Ghat to Adikeshav Ghat, information about the history, religious and spiritual significance of the Ghats will be shown and told to the tourists.

Union Minister Shri G Kishan Reddy took charge as Union Tourism Minister. Simultaneously, Shri Shripad Yesso Naik and Shri Ajay Bhatt also took charge as Ministers of State in the Ministry of Tourism. Shri Kishan Reddy has also been assigned the charge of Union Minister of Culture as well as Development of North-Eastern Region. He was earlier holding the charge of Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs. Speaking to media, Shri Reddy said that the Ministry will work to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision of ‘New India’ by investing in strengthening our cultural roots and promoting the Tourism sector. Shri G Kishan Reddy was elected as a Member of Parliament to 17th Lok Sabha in 2019, from Secunderabad Constituency, Telangana. Shri Shripad Yesso Naik was Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Ayush before taking charge as Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism. He is a 5 times elected Member of Lok Sabha from Goa.Previously, he has also served as Union

Space Tourism Virgin Galactic complete successful space flight Virgin Galactic’s Unity22 successfully reached space, completing the Company’s fourth rocket-powered spaceflight. Indian origin Sirisha Bandla was also the part of the mission along with five others including British billionaire Richard Branson himself. Virgin Galactic rocket plane and safely returned in the vehicle's first fully crewed test flight to space. Branson said, ““Our mission is to make space more accessible to all. In that spirit, and with today’s successful flight of VSS Unity, I’m thrilled to announce a partnership with Omaze and Space for Humanity to inspire the next generation of dreamers. An historic moment for Manipur as the first trial run of a passenger train from Silchar to Vaingaichunpao in Tamenglong was successfully conducted recently. This will be the major connectivity boost to Northeast region. Putting the state on the Indian Railways map, the trial run was conducted on Rajdhani Express from Assam’s Silchar railway station - reached the Vaingaichunpao railway station in Manipur. The train covered the distance of 11 km between the two stations, with railway officials onboard.

EVENT ASSOCHAM seeks priority vaccination for travel, tourism staff, other relief measures for hospitality sector Sharing concerns of the travel and tourism industry over a devastating economic impact of Covid-19 on the highly job-oriented sector, ASSOCHAM has reached out to the government seeking an urgent relief package, comprising long- tenure debt restructuring and priority in vaccination of the staff engaged in the hospitality industry. In a presentation for the ministries of Tourism, Finance, External Affairs, Civil Aviation and the RBI, the ASSOCHAM National Council on Tourism and Hospitality has said that thousands of MSMEs have been displaced in the sector and their rehabilitation would require a liberal and immediate help. ‘'Tourism, restaurant and hotel industry contributes to generating large scale employment and revenue generation for the government. The sector is also the lifeline of thousands of micro small and medium businesses,'' ASSOCHAM Secretary General Mr Deepak Sood said. He said the sector would require immediate short-term packages comprising easy and quick credit lines for atz least two years to help retain staff and pay them salaries. The chamber has impressed upon the

The businessmen associated with the tourism industry are finally recovering from the losses. President of Hotel and Restaurant Association Nainital, Mr. Dinesh Shah said, “Tourism is a source of employment and livelihood for lakhs of people. Businessmen related to tourism have got economic benefits due to good business especially in last two days.” Adding more to this, Uttarakhand Hotel Association President Mr. Sandeep Sahni said, “Only tourists with negative RTPCR report and registration in Smart City Portal along with hotel booking details were allowed to enter Mussoorie. Apart from this, unnecessary crowding at tourist places was controlled by the officials.” Tourism Secretary Mr. Dilip Jawalkar said, “We are working to develop new tourist places in each district which will help in reducing the increasing pressure on common tourist places.

This will also increase employment opportunities for the local people.” Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government also made it clear that the government is continuously committed to maintaining a balance between revival and health security. Tourism Secretary Shri Dilip Jawalkar said that due to the possibility of a third wave of the corona, instructions have been given by Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board (UTDB) to hotel owners and tourism businessmen to strictly follow the Corona guidelines at tourist places.

IndiGo start operations from Darbhanga IndiGo recently operated its maiden flight from Darbhanga, the newest domestic destination in the 6E network. President of Hotel and Restaurant Association Nainital, Mr. Dinesh Shah said, “Tourism is a source of employment and livelihood for lakhs of people. Businessmen related to tourism have got economic benefits due to good business especially in last two days.” Adding more to this, Uttarakhand Hotel Association President Mr. Sandeep Sahni said, “Only tourists with negative RTPCR report and registration in Smart City Portal along with hotel booking details were allowed to enter Mussoorie. Apart from this, unnecessary crowding at tourist places was controlled by the officials.” Tourism Secretary Mr. Dilip Jawalkar said, “We are working to develop new tourist places in each district which will help in reducing the increasing pressure on common tourist places.

This will also increase employment opportunities for the local people.” Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government also made it clear that the government is continuously committed to maintaining a balance between revival and health security. Baradari Gardens - The garden surround the Baradari Palace located in the north of old Patiala city, just outside Sheranwala Gate. The gardens, laid under Maharaja Rajindera Singh were planted extensively rare trees and shrubs, dotted with impressive Colonial buildings and a marble statue of Maharaja Rajindera Singh and the Fern House. The 19th century Fern House, a replica of the one in Calcutta forms a unique attraction along with quaint Rink Hall. After extensive restoration it opened as a heritage hotel run by Neemrana Hotels group in 2009. It is Punjab's first heritage hotel. Sheesh Mahal - A part of the Old Moti Bagh Palace built in the 19th century by the Maharajas is the famous Sheesh Mahal, literally meaning the Palace of Mirrors. The mahal contains a large number of frescos, most of which were made under His Highness Maharaja Narinder Singh. A lake in front of the palace adds to the beauty. Lakshman Jhula, a bridge built across the lake, is a famous attraction. A museum housing the largest collection of medals from the world collected by His Highness Maharaja Bhupinder Singh is here. Qila Mubarak Complex - The complex stands on a 10-acre ground in the heart of the city and contains the main palace or Qila Androon (literally, 'inner fort'), the guesthouse or Ran Baas and the Darbar Hall. Outside the Qila are the Darshani Gate, a Shiva temple, and bazaar shops which border the streets that run around the Qila and sell precious ornaments, colourful hand-woven fabrics, 'jootis' and bright 'Parandis'. It was the principal residence of the Patiala royals until the construction of

Old Moti Bagh Palace. Bahadurgarh Fort - The fort is 6 kms away from Patiala city. It is situated on the Patiala-Chandigarh road. The fort was constructed by Mughal Nawab Saif Khan in 1658 A.D where Guru Teg Bahadur visited him and later renovated by a Sikh ruler Maharaja Karam Singh in 1837. The construction of the entire fort was completed in eight years. The fort is enclosed within two rounded walls and a moat. The circumference of the fort is slightly over two kms. The fort consists of a historical Gurdwara Sahib (a Sikh temple) named Gurdwara Sahib Patshai Nauvin. This Gurudwara shows fine Sikh architecture. This Gurudwara is controlled by the Shiromini Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee. People visit this Gurudwara on the occasion of the festival of Baisakhi on 13 April, every year. Moti Bagh Palace - Started during the reign of Maharaja Narinder Singh, it was completed under Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in the early 20th century. The Old Moti Bagh Palace now houses the National Institute for Sports. The facade has Rajasthan-style jharokas and chhatris, and the palace is set in a beautiful garden with terraces,water channels and a Sheesh Mahal. How to Reach By Air - The nearest International Airport from Patiala is Chandigarh Airport, roughly two hour drive from Patiala. By Rail - You can easily get regular trains to Patiala from other major cities of the country. By Road - Patiala lies just off the excellent National Highway #1 (Delhi-Amritsar) and is about 250 Km from Delhi. The journey via Ambala Cantt. takes about 5 hours. Places to Visit Kali Devi Temple - A Hindu temple dedicated to Maa Kaali. Maharaja Bhupinder Singh build this temple and brought 6-ft tall statue of Kali from Bengal to Patiala. The construction of the entire fort was completed in eight years. The fort is enclosed within two rounded walls and a moat. The circumference of the fort is slightly over two kms. The fort consists of a historical Gurdwara Sahib (a Sikh temple) named Gurdwara Sahib Patshai Nauvin. This Gurudwara shows fine Sikh architecture. This Gurudwara is controlled by the Shiromini Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee. People visit this Gurudwara on the occasion of the festival of Baisakhi on 13 April, every year. Moti Bagh Palace - Started during the reign of Maharaja Narinder Singh, it was completed under Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in the early 20th century. The Old Moti Bagh Palace now houses the National Institute for Sports. The facade has Rajasthan-style jharokas and chhatris, and the palace is set in a beautiful garden with terraces,water channels and a Sheesh Mahal. How to Reach By Air - The nearest International Airport from Patiala is Chandigarh Airport, roughly two hour drive from Patiala. By Rail - You can easily get regular trains to Patiala from other major cities of the country. Most Golfers a whopping 97% of those surveyed rated Thailand as one of the best golfing destinations. Thai Hospitality followed by Value for money and affordable luxury, were the top three key factors similar to previous survey last year which prompts these golfers to travel to Thailand to play golf. Thailand's close proximity to India was another key factor in influencing the Indian golfers mind in deciding Thailand as the premier destination for Golf holidays.

INTERNATIONAL Qatar Re-Opens for Fully Vaccinated International Travellers The State of Qatar has re-opened its border to international travellers who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with vaccines that are approved for use by the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar. A new streamlined set of measures designed to make travelling to Qatar as easy as possible, while maintaining the necessary precautions to continue to protect against the spread of COVID-19, has been implemented and is effective immediately. The new measures will allow people who are fully vaccinated to visit Qatar without the need for quarantine. Qatar is open to fully vaccinated Indians too. Currently IndiGo, Qatar Airways, Vistara, Air India operate flights to Doha from various cities in India. INTERNATIONAL Qatar Re-Opens for Fully Vaccinated International Travellers The State of Qatar has re-opened its border to international travellers who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, with vaccines that are approved for use by the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar. A new streamlined set of measures designed to make travelling to Qatar as easy as possible, while maintaining the necessary precautions to continue to protect against the spread of COVID-19, has been implemented and is effective immediately. The new measures will allow people who are fully vaccinated to visit Qatar without the need for quarantine. Qatar is open to fully vaccinated Indians too. Currently IndiGo, Qatar Airways, Vistara, Air India operate flights to Doha from various cities in India. In order to visit Qatar - international visitors, citizens and residents - must register and upload documentation such as a vaccination certificate, valid PCR test up to 72 hours prior to travel, and personal details through the 'Ehteraz' website (www.ehteraz.gov.qa). In addition, all travellers are required to download and activate the 'Ehteraz' mobile app which requires a domestic Qatari SIM card.
