"Making (Perfect) World: Harbour, Hong Kong, Alienated Cities and Dreams" is an exhibition of Pak Sheung Chuen's new artwork created especially for the Venice Biennale site and context, with an exciting selection of his previous works. Pak's exhibition focuses on two major trajectories - his quest and negotiation for a better (self)understanding with everyday (Hong Kong) society, and the possibility of adaptation in the face of alienated cultures and countries - as at the Bienniale in Venice. The seminar will discuss many aspects of the project, from the open application process of the HKADC, to the production and setting up of the exhibition: Making (Perfect) World: Harbour, Hong Kong, Alienated Cities and Dreams at the 2009 Venice Bienniale. Tobias Berger, the curator of the exhibition, will talk about the practicalities of preparing and presenting a national pavilion in the Venice Bienniale, including information about putting together the production team, marketing the event, organizing venues and attendents, and the reception of the work from an international audience. Artist Pak Sheung Chuen will introduce the multi-layered exhibition and speak about his artistic practice, highlighting the artwork produced especially for this event. One of the Hong Kong venue attendants will also be present to give valuable insight into the reaction of the viewers and the day to day running of the exhibition.
