Nurse Clinics Sam Holliday RVN

During the month of January we are offering FREE nurse clinics with one of our registered veterinary nurses. Every client who has a clinic will be entitled to 10% off waiting room products. We offer a range of products as detailed below, we often deal with issues you might not want to trouble the vet with. Clinics available include: Weight Clinics. Obesity is actually a disease and can contribute to premature death. We are here to help you every step of the way at achieving your pets target weight. Puppy Clinics. A new puppy can be challenging, let us point you in the right direction with worming, flea treatment, nutrition, house training, teething, behaviour and more. Likewise we offer the same for kittens in our kitten clinics.

Mature Clinics. Like us pets slow down with age, and having regular senior checks can help pick up early problems. We discuss arthritis, lumps and bumps, nutrition, hearing, eyesight and mobility. Weigh and Worm clinics. These clinics are an opportunity to have your pet weighed and get effective worm and flea treatment for your pet. We have time to discuss any other concerns too.

New Arrivals in the Waiting Room

Puppy Parties are lots of fun here at Paragon. They are for puppies up to the age of 16 weeks to help them socially. A maximum of six puppies in the session, this gives them opportunity to play without it being too over whelming for them. All puppies are welcome as long as it’s a week after their first vaccination. This starts them socialising which is crucial for all puppies, whilst waiting for the vaccination period to lapse.

Micro Chipping Laura Binnie BVM&S, BSc, MRCVS

Micro chipping, as a form of permanent identification for pets, is often in the press and it is going to be a legal requirement for all dogs to be micro chipped by April 2016. Paragon Vets are offering FREE micro chipping to all dogs (in conjunction with The Dogs Trust) Cats, rabbits, birds, tortoises and horses can be micro chipped too, please contact us for details of cost. A microchip is an electronic device (about the size of a grain of rice) that is inserted into your pet’s scruff between their shoulder blades (or in the breast or neck muscle of birds and horses). It has a unique 16 digit number that can be scanned; this number is then entered into a database that is linked directly to your pet and your contact details. When it is scanned the chip is activated by low frequency radio waves that allow it to activate the unique number. Lost or missing pets that are micro chipped are much more likely to be returned to their owner. Even pets that don’t usually go outside or never leave their owner’s side ought to be micro chipped, if they do manage to get out or stray, they are more likely to go missing and are difficult (or impossible) to reunite with their owners if they aren’t micro chipped.

Actual size of micro chip = 1cm
