Captain is a friendly, swashbuckling pirate who loves to sail the high seas.When he’s not singing and dancing in the live character show- Captain and Friends LIVE! his favourite activity is searching for buried treasure. Be sure to look out for this cheeky fellow around the resort – he loves to make new friends!
Cleo
Cleo is a sparkling princess from a land far, far away called Glitterton.Cleo loves to dance and you can join her as she shares some of her moves during the live character show on stage by the waterpark. Cleo is also a super talented cook and loves to make cookies and cupcakes. Join her and her REC friends for Cupcake Decorating.
Astro
Astro is our ‘Out of this World’ friend all the way from a planet called Bubbleton.He has a rocket backpack “and he ain’t afraid to fly it” all around the galaxy. He can also be spotted showing off his moves, Ice Skating in Planet Chill. Be sure to give him a high-five when you see this cool dude around the resort.
Dusty
Dusty is our mate from the Outback. When he’s not wrestling a crocodile or saving native, Aussie wildlife from pesky critters, he hangs out here at Paradise Resort. Dusty loves an adventure and he loves even more to take you along with him. Check out his Adventureland, Safari and Jungle Gym during your stay and be sure to say G’day as he makes his appearances around the resort.
How long have you worked at Paradise Resort? A little over two years now. What departments do you work in? Food & Beverage & Retail What is your favourite thing about working at Paradise Resort? The best thing would definitely have to be how happy the work environment is and the atmosphere of the entire resort for both guests and employees What is the funniest thing you have seen at Paradise Resort? There are a few things that come to mind. However, it may just be during the “Gangnam Style” phase, where I did see our GM dressed up doing the dance amongst all the kids and other staff members in the lobby What is your favourite song right now (title and artist)? As of lately, I have been really into Tame Impala Who would you most like to meet and why? Eminem. He was the first person I ever listened to and the fact that he’s a living legend in the music world If a Genie gave you one wish, what would you wish for? A credit card with a generous limit that I never have to pay for, so I could just travel ! Most famous person you have ever met? Snoop Dogg What sporting team or person do you follow? I love sports in general. To name one, the PSG Football Team

Welcome’s You! OUR NEWLY RENOVATED ZONE 4 KIDS CLUB (Z4K) HAS ESTABLISHED ITSELF AS A CHILDREN’S UTOPIA. Children are divided into different age groups over the 9 themed play spaces to ensure ageappropriate care and activities are provided. Z4K is a mini fun park featuring themed play spaces such as Astro’s Space Station with pedal powered space buggies, Under Water World with submarines and slides, Dusty’s Safari and the Magic Garden with its colourful ball pit. These are just some of the magical themed play spaces where our staff offer an activity program to entertain and engage kids of every age, allowing them the opportunity to meet new friends and experience a host of fun activities designed just for them. Our Kids Eat For $8 menu is also available in Z4K for lunch or dinner, so whilst the kids are looked after parents can truly relax. It’s school holidays everyday in Z4K and Mum and Dad get some time out too! BEN FROM THE KIDS CLUB TALKS ABOUT HIS FAVOURITE ACTIVITY ‘THE GAME OF LIFE’. The Game of life is exactly that! Taking little things that the kids may do when they are older and putting a fun and creative twist on it. From my experience the kids love doing things on their own terms so when they enter Kids club on Thursday nights it is pretty much up to them how they spend their time. The kids have plenty of choice as to how they earn their money and just as much choice as to how they spend it. They can become a construction worker and build a sky scraper, test their brains with the kid’s club exam or try their luck with one of the skill testers around the place. There’s even a chance to pass their drivers test! We have different size carts for all ages so they can navigate their way through the course and graduate driving school and collect their very own captains crew driver’s license.
8:30pm - 10:30pm The tattoo shop/bling bar is one of the kids favourite places to spend their hard earned (or not so hard) earned dollars. The boys can get themselves inked up with sweet tattoos and the girls can make their own bracelets or anklets. Or they can even enter the kid’s club lottery. The kids go crazy when the half hour draw comes up. If they are lucky enough to win they could win a bag full of prizes!

SWIM DISCOVER...
Bucket Loads of Fun! Our central resort area is a giant water playground, featuring a refreshing lagoon pool, large heated spa and two enormous Aqua Play attractions. Our large Z4K Water Park is 3 stories high on multi levels complete with a myriad of slides, water cannons, and climbing frames designed to entertain and engage the whole family in aquatic fun. Topping it all off is a giant bucket that fills with 600 litres of water before emptying every few minutes over guests below in one enormous splash. The littlies have not been forgotten either with their own smaller version including a slippery slide, water cannons and paddling area with a shallow beach entry.

All guests will be issued with a guest identification wristband on arrival. The wristband is a requirement of entry to the Z4K Water Park, Zone 4 Kids Club and all resort activities.
The Lagoon Pool and Spa are open daily from 7am-9pm. Z4K Waterparks are open daily from 9am-4pm (extended until 5:30pm in the Summer months). The Pool, Spa and Junior Waterpark are heated year round. *Use of the Waterparks and resort facilities are strictly limited to in-house guests only. Wrist bands issued on arrival must be worn at all times when in the waterpark.
PLEASE NOTE:
all towels and personal belongings left in the pool area prior to the opening time of 7:00am, will be removed and taken to lost property. Furthermore, any items left unattended for more than 1 hour on a sun bed or table throughout the day will also be removed and taken to lost property. it has become necessary for us to take this step due to guests “reserving facilities” and not utilising them. Please be respectful of your fellow guests and our team and use the facilities appropriately.

With a nine metre R o c k- C l i m b i n g Wall, Indoor Jungle Gym, Outdoor Adventure Playground and Family BBQ area there is something for everyone.
DUSTY’S JUNGLE GYM Located at reception Dusty’s Jungle Gym is the perfect way for Children to start their adventure. You can be forgiven for thinking you have arrived in the land of Madagascar when you come face to face with a giraffe and first spy our multi-level climbing frame complete with slides and mazes that make up Dusty’s Jungle Gym. Suitable for children 2-12years this is just one of the many places for young explorers to enjoy at Paradise Resort.

DUSTY’S PLAYGROUND Our outdoor Adventure Playground is open daily from 9am to 6pm and the perfect place to burn off energy and let imaginations run wild. Packed full of climbing equipment, a suspension bridge, slides and more to keep the kids entertained for hours. You may also run in to Dusty himself offering activities such as the commando course, scavenger hunts and dinosaur digs. Check the weekly what’s on program for times.
DUSTY’S BBQ AREA Located in Dusty’s Adventureland is a spacious grass area with complimentary electronic BBQ’s offering the perfect place to relax or enjoy a family picnic. Featuring a large timber deck the area also host’s live music and entertainment throughout the year. For added convenience Splashes mini-mart offers a range of tasty BBQ packs and disposable picnic items to make your holiday at Paradise Resort that much easier. *The BBQ Area is for use by hotel guests only. DUSTY’S ROCK CLIMBING Challenge yourself on Dusty’s 9 metre Rock Climbing Wall. Our Resort Entertainment Crew (REC) are professionally trained in all aspects of safety and tuition, and can help all ages from 7 - 100 to scale the heights of Dusty’s Rock Climbing. There are 3 degrees of
difficulty to suit novices through to experienced climbers. Complete as many climbs as you dare in the 1.5 hour session. We offer three x 2 hour sessions per day and additional sessions added seasonally. And to make it a little easier for beginners to stay on their feet there are fibre glass penguins to help make your ‘icecapades’ more bump-free.

Parents can also relax at the Poolside Café & Bar’s exclusive Adults Only area located outside of Splashes Mini-Mart. There’s a big TV showing all of the latest sports action, pool table and a limited poolside Tapas and Cocktail menu with our staff ready to take your order and ensure total relaxation. And for those with fitness in mind our Cardio Gym is equipped with a treadmill, bike, rowing machine, fit balls and yoga mats. DO NOT DISTURB If you place your ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door we will not service your room. However after a maximum of 3 days you will be contacted by our Duty Manager to arrange a time to service. When walking the corridors please be mindful of other guests/children sleeping and keep noise levels to a minimum.
ELECTRICITY / ADAPTORS Guest rooms are equipped to take 240 volt appliances. Adaptors are available from reception, a deposit will apply. Our Superior Rooms are also equipped with HDMI and USB ports to suit most electronic devices. If you have left your cable behind we have a range available for sale in Splashes mini-mart.
DUSTY’S BBQ AREA Located in Dusty’s Adventureland is a spacious grass area with complimentary electronic BBQ’s offering the perfect place to relax or enjoy a family picnic. The BBQ area is for use by hotel guests only. Please be mindful of other guests and clean up after you use this area.
GAMES ROOM The games room is an unsupervised area with coin-operated arcade style and challenge machines. Open daily from 8:30am to 8:30pm and located on the lower level next to the Zone 4 Kids Club.
DUSTY’S JUNGLE GYM Our multi-level indoor climbing frame is complete with slides and mazes. It is located in reception and suitable for children 2-12 years. Children must wear socks and have parental supervision. DUSTY’S PLAYGROUND Located in Dusty’s Adventureland our outdoor play area is the perfect place to burn off energy and let imaginations run wild. Open every day from 9am to 6pm parents can watch young ones enjoy free play. DUSTY’S ROCk CLIMBING Our 9-metre climbing wall is located in Dusty’s Adventureland and suitable for all ages from 7-100. Dates and times are weather permitting and subject to change. Please check the weekly ‘What’s On’ program issued upon check-in. Refer to page 11 for more information.
GIANT CHESS BOARD Our giant chess board is 4m x 4m with pieces standing approx 1m high. It is located just outside of the pool area in Cleo’s Castle on Level 1 and available for all guests to enjoy between 9am-6pm daily. Look for the Knight in shining armour. GUEST LAUNDRY Coin operated laundry facilities are located on the lower ground level of the resort next to Kids Club. Washing/Drying cost is $4 per load. Your room swipe key is required to gain entry. GYM A cardio gym is located on the reception level opposite the internet kiosks. Open 24 hours and free of charge for use by hotel guests only. Children are not permitted in the gym. HIRE ITEMS - DIAL 442 We have a range of items available for hire at the resort, eg microwave, strollers, DVD/ Gaming consoles, high chairs and much more. Please contact the Resort Shop for more information. (Deposit required)
EMERGENCY EVACUATION Check the fire escape plan on the back of your door, remembering the way out to exits. If you discover a fire in your room, immediately report it to the Guest Hotline. Only try to put the fire out if you’re sure you can handle it. If you’re in doubt, leave your room and close the door to keep smoke and flames out of the corridor. In the event of an evacuation, follow instructions given out over the PA system. If the intensity of the fire prevents normal exit from your room – here’s what to do. DON’T PANIC! Grab your room key and head for the door. If there is smoke in the room, crawl to the door. Stay low as smoke and toxic gases rise. Touch door for heat before opening. If the door isn’t hot, open it slowly and look out for fire in the corridor. Be prepared to close the door quickly if necessary. CHECK THE CORRIDOR! If everything is clear, close the door behind you and walk to the nearest exit. If there is smoke in the corridor, crawl to the nearest exit. If the nearest exit or stairway is blocked use an alternative one to your room. NEVER USE THE ELEVATOR! The call button may take you to a floor with smoke or flames.
HOUSEkEEPING - DIAL 9 Rooms are serviced Monday to Saturday. Our ‘Sunday Sleep In’ initiative allows you to sleep in with no disruption. Should you require a service on Sunday please call reception prior to 8:00pm on Saturday night. Extra blankets or pillows are available by calling the guest hotline. If the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign is displayed on your door knob your room will not be serviced. INTERNET - DIAL 446 Wireless internet is available complimentary in all public areas of the resort for hotel guests. This is limited to 200mb of data per 24hours. High speed internet with up to 1GB of data is also available for a small fee. Alternatively coin operated internet kiosks are located in the corridor adjacent to the resort shop. MAIL, PHOTOCOPYING These services are available at reception. (Fees apply) MAINTENANCE - DIAL 9 We have a maintenance team onsite from 8:00am each day. If you find anything in your room not in working order, please dial 9 for our Guest Hotline. MEDICAL SERVICES/CHEMIST - DIAL 9 The Surfers Paradise Day & Night surgery & Pharmacy is located at the Outrigger building, on Surfers Paradise Boulevard (approx 10 minute walk), their phone number is 07 5592 2299. If you have a medical emergency or require First Aid, please dial 9 for our Guest Hotline. POOL TOWELS Pool towels are available for purchase at nominal costs from the Resort Shop and Splashes Mini Mart. Our bath towels may not be used for pools, beaches or taken away from the resort. PLANET CHILL ICE-SkATING - DIAL 482 Planet Chill is our very own ice-skating rink, located on the 2nd level above reception. A great family attraction suitable for ages 3 years and up. Open for three x 2 hour sessions per day. (Refer to page 14 for more information) RESORT SHOP - DIAL 442 Located on the lobby level, this boutique offers a great range of swimwear, pool accessories for kids, casual resort wear, souvenirs and your favourite ‘Fancy Dress Friday’ outfits. SECURITY / SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX For your own security, please ensure you lock and bolt all security screens and doors on departure from your room, as we do not accept responsibility for stolen items. We strongly urge you to place any cash, jewellery, laptop, computers or other valuables be stored in the complimentary safety deposit boxes at reception.
SMOkING REGULATIONS Government regulations prevent smoking in all public areas other than the designated smoking area located near the front entrance of the resort. Please note children are not permitted in the smoking area. Smoking in rooms will incur a $200 deodorising charge. SWIMMING POOLS Our Lagoon Pool and Spa are open daily from 7am-9pm. Wristbands supplied on check-in must be worn at all times in the pool area. To ensure a fun and safe environment for all, please do not run, take glass in to the pool area, or dive in to the pools. Children must have parental supervision, as the resort does not have a pool lifeguard. (Refer to page 8 for more information). TELEPHONE SERVICE - DIAL 9 OUTSIDE CALLS – are recorded on your room account and will appear on your final bill on departure. Please note there is a charge for all external calls made from your room phone. Local calls, STD and International Direct Dial are available from all rooms by dialling 0 (if room charge has been set up) then the number required. ROOM TO ROOM CALLS - Simply dial the room number. MESSAGES - Your telephone light will indicate there is a message waiting for you. To retrieve messages, pick up the handset and press the message button. WAKE-UP CALLS - Please dial 9 to arrange. TOURS/THEME PARkS/ACTIVITIES There is a booking kiosk and brochures located in reception showcasing a range of activities available on the Gold Coast. The staff in the resort shop can also assist with bookings – a booking fee will apply.
