I have interviewed my uncle. He works in a company called ÂŤTardientaÂť. This company is located in Tardienta (Huesca).
HISTORY Tardienta is one of the biggest and most modern companies of the flour sector in Spain. It was founded in 1954. It is a light industry, which has 60 workers. His owner is Miguel Artamendi. They have received subsidies for new equipments.
WORKERS The workers are employees with different categories and different salaries. The different categories of workers are: owner, director, commercial director, export director, attendants and workers. They work eight hours a day with the corresponding breaks.
They belong to a union and they have a collective agreement.
FACILITIES They have 59,000 squared meters, where they have some fields for experimental cultivation of wheat varieties and they have also a laboratory, where they can analyze the products.
PROCESS OF PRODUCTION After a demanding selection of the raw materials (wheat), they do an analysis to see the quality of these materials, they use the most modern technology in the grinding process and finally they do another analysis of the elaborated products. DATA ABOUT THEIR SERVICES They have a lot of stores in Spain and they have also a lot of trucks. This means that they can supply their products to their clients (bakeries and factories of pasta) in the requested dates. They handle with the competition with similar levels of prices and quality. They try to have benefits and sometimes they have to refuse some clients because if they do not do this, they will have losses.
Nowadays they are expanding the company. PROBLEMS They have problems with the difficult sale of the products, and they have also problems to get the raw materials. There is more supply than demand and their products depend on the quality of the wheat of every harvest. This year there is more demand than supply.
