WASHINGTON (AP) — Shavonte Zellous scored 15 of her 19 points in the second half to lead No. 21 Pittsburgh to a 50-39 win against Georgetown. Xenia Stewart scored all 11 of her points in the first half for the Panthers. Shayla Scott had her third doubledouble with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Pittsburgh (15-4, 5-2 Big East) tied its season low for total points, but still won its fourth game in a row. For Georgetown (13-7, 3-4), it was the fewest points the Hoyas have scored since losing to Pittsburgh 70-33 in the final game last season. Karee Houlette led the Hoyas with 11 points. The Panthers trailed 27-23 at halftime, but took the lead with a 13-0 run to open the second half — with nine of the points coming from Zellous — holding Georgetown scoreless for nearly eight minutes. Zellous led the Big East in scoring entering the game, averaging 23.6 points, but she finished the first half with nearly as many fouls — three — as points, picking up a personal and a technical in a skirmish for a loose ball in the final seconds before halftime. After going 1-of-6 from the field in the first half, she came out aggressively in the second half, sparking the Panthers’ moribund offense and helping Pittsburgh build the lead. Both teams struggled on offense before halftime — Pittsburgh’s 23 first-half points tied their lowest output in any half this season. But while the Panthers’ fortunes improved after halftime, the Hoyas’ did not. Georgetown was 4-of-26 in the second half, scoring a season-low 12 points.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Shavonte Zellous scored 31 points and No. 21 Pittsburgh won its fifth straight game, 86-54 over Marquette. Zellous, the leading scorer in the Big East, moved within 21 points of becoming Pitt’s third 2,000-point scorer. Pepper Wilson had 13 points and 17 rebounds, and Taneisha Harrison added 15 points for the Panthers (16-4, 6-2). Krystal Ellis scored 13 points for Marquette (12-9, 3-4), which leads the series 4-2. The Golden Eagles struggled from the start and finished 16-for-61 from the field (26 percent). They didn’t make more than nine shots in either half. Zellous shot 6-for-12 and scored 17 points in the first half as the Panthers raced to a 43-21 lead. Pittsburgh outrebounded Marquette 50-36 and outscored the Eagles 32-20 in the paint.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Shavonte Zellous scored 29 points, surpassing 2,000 in her career, and No. 22 Pittsburgh beat No. 19 Notre Dame 82-70 for its sixth straight victory. Xenia Stewart and Taneisha Harrison scored 17 points and Shayla Scott added 11 points and a career-high 18 rebounds for the Panthers (17-4, 7-2 Big East). Pepper Wilson had 12 rebounds for Pittsburgh, which beat Notre Dame for the third time in the past four games. Notre Dame leads the series 17-3. Becca Bruszewski and Erica Solomon scored 14 points for Notre Dame (16-5, 5-4), which has lost four of its past six games. Zellous, the Big East’s leading scorer, became the third player in school history to surpass 2,000 points when she made a one-handed lay-in with 12:30 left in the game. She was fouled on the play by Ashley Barlow, but missed the free throw. Notre Dame, which never led, closed to 49-48 on Erica Williamson’s basket 5 minutes into the second half. Zellous then scored eight points during a 14-6 Pitt run which put the Panthers ahead 63-54. The Irish got no closer than seven points the rest of the way. Zellous scored 11 of Pitt’s first 21 points but was limited to 12 minutes in the first half because of foul trouble. Pitt raced out to leads of 8-0 and 15-4. The Irish got as close as three points before a late run by the Panthers gave them a 40-31 halftime lead.
