Freak accident traps man between parked cars A freak accident trapped an older man between two parked cars in the Stanford Shopping Center parking lot Sunday afternoon (Jan. 16). Palo Alto fire Battalion Chief Chris Woodard said the man was walking between the two cars when one car was hit by a third car, pushing the cars together and pinning the man at the knees. Another lion sighting in Portola Valley, off Alpine A mountain lion was spotted in Portola Valley late Saturday night (Jan. 15), according to San Mateo County officials. At approximately 10:50 p.m., the cougar was seen in the vicinity of Applewood Lane and Nathorst Avenue, heading toward a creek behind 4370 Alpine Road, the county office of emergency services said.
