Avenidas presents the 7th Annual

Jewish Film Festival comes to town This weekend, the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival comes to town, bringing feature films, documentaries, short films and television episodes. Local screenings are at the CineArts theater at Palo Alto Square at 3000 El Camino Real, where a four-day program of 24 films from various nations will be shown from July 31 through Aug. 3. Movies include “A Small Act,�

a documentary about Chris Mburu of Kenya, being shown July 31 at noon. After being sponsored through school by Hilde Back — a German Jew who lost all her family in the Holocaust — Mburu decides to pay her kindness forward and create a scholarship fund for Kenyan schoolchildren. Others include “My So-Called Enemy,� shown at noon on Aug. 1. It follows six teenage Israeli

and Palestinian girls who attend a camp in the United States designed to bring members of both sides of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict together in understanding and acceptance.
