Try Out 'Star Citizen' For Totally free This Weekend Roberts Space Industries is dropping its paywall so everyone can get a taste of Star Citizen with a Free Flight Event this weekend. Interested players can download and fly one of two ships for free from now until Monday evening. You can choose your ship and get started on the Roberts Space Industries website. Star Citizen is Chris Roberts’ mega-ambitious and much delayed do-everything-in-one-game space sim. If Eve Online, Counter Strike and Destiny had a love child, and pumped the thing full of growth hormones and steroids through years of development, the result might look something like what’s planned for Star Citizen. The advance interest in Star Citizen has been astonishing. The game began as a Kickstarter in 2012 where it set the record for the highest crowdfunded game at $4.2 million. Two days a fantastic post later when the Kickstarter ended, it had more resources reached $6.2 million. In 2014, Star Citizen set a Guinness Book of http://www.gamevalley.com/ World Records record for the largest amount ever raised through crowdsourcing with a $39.6 million haul. By May 2017 the game had raised $150 million. The money has kept pouring in even though Star Citizen has been delayed repeatedly since it was first announced.

The current version of Star Citizen is labeled Alpha 3.1. Whether the game will ever reach beta, let alone a commercial release, remains to be seen.
