This 120,000 sq ft mixed-used development is designed as a landmark for an upscale neighborhood, with three floors of mall space and restaurants, and seven floors of office space. The design of the faรงade treatments is inspired by the artificial landscape on the 4th floor outdoor space. Extending the topography out and transferring its vertical movement into lateral shifts animates the overall form of the building and defines the outer skin composed of metal cladding and glass panels with different opacity. Role and participation in project: Lead designer; concept development, schematic design, 3D model development and renderings, preparation of presentation materials, materials and finishes selection.

Commercial Interior Renovation Pavlina Z. Gantcheva | Work Samples

This Chelsea restaurant embodies the client’s vision of East-West fusion. Architecturally, it was accomplished through filtering the traditional Chinese interior spatial treatment of pattern and color application through the use of contemporary concepts of digital fabrication and green design. Custom-designed metal wall panels and a custom-made chandelier are featured in the bar area. LEDs create ambient lighting; the interplay between the light and the wall paint change the atmosphere at different times of the day and the night.

Role and participation in the project: Lead designer; design of all phases from concept to construction administration, development of space planning options, materials, finishes, and furniture selection; review meetings and negotiations with the client; negotiations with contractors and manufacturers.

This invited competition called for a solution for a city of 5 million people in the waters of the Yellow Sea off the coast of South Korea. Using the area of Saemangum’s 20 miles of artificial dyke, the proposal built a linear city on the existing dyke structure minimizing cost of infrastructure construction and eliminating landfill options. This super structure contains four nodes of development: a tourist and residential central zone, R&D facilities and an eco-park on the southern extension, and a finance city and new airport on the northern end. A dual beach concept and a continuous urban promenade are the key features of the development allowing for open views as well as high value properties along the entire span of the development.

Role and participation in project: Member of the design team; research on precedent studies regarding investment and property values and appraisals as well as industrial, financial and market projections for the region and worldwide; strategic planning. Concept development: formal design investigations, transportation infrastructure connection options within the city. Graphic representations: diagrams, renderings, 3D digital and physical models, animations.
