a break, and without much synergy among them, and therefore not much flexibility in terms of time. As the days went by, this generated work overload for the dynamization and technical teams. It was one preparation and technical set-up after another. Also, we didn’t manage to make the organizers understand the importance of having a degree of flexibility in aspects like programming, the security of the premises and opening hours, which would have allowed us to make room for occasional urban situations that we didn’t want to ignore. But I think that the key problem was the failure to reach an understanding with the organization in terms of prioritizing the dynamization process, which was the essential substance of the project.
Hubiese sido válida si el grupo de participantes hubiese surgido de un proceso de dinamización por fases, en el que se toman decisiones en conjunto, se distribuyen tareas, se diseña la acción y se marcan objetivos comunes, o sea, una multitud pero organizada. La realidad fue otra, se sucedían las actividades sin parar, casi sin descanso, con poca sinergia entre ellas y por tanto con poco margen de flexibilidad horaria. Esta situación, a lo largo de los días fue sobrecargando de trabajo al equipo de dinamización y al equipo técnico. Era una preparación y un montaje técnico tras otro. Durante el desarrollo del evento tampoco supimos explicar a la organización lo necesario que era tener una cierta flexibilidad en otros temas relacionados con la programación, la seguridad del recinto o el horario que hubiesen permitido dar cabida a situaciones urbanas esporádicas a las que no queríamos renunciar. Pero creo que la clave fue la falta de entendimiento con la organización a la hora de priorizar el proceso de dinamización, la sustancia desde la que se construía el proyecto.
In 2006 you wrote an essay, “Algorithmic Architecture and Collaborative Systems,” which was published in the book “Fadaiat: Freedom of Movement, Freedom of Knowledge.” Your theses on the importance of open digital “architecture” are analogous to those of Tim Berners Lee, or Alex Galloway in “Protocol.” In the time elapsed since you wrote this text, the digitalization phenomenon has given way to a scenario where on one hand, there is a massive use of the web mediated by centralized corporate services, and on the other, a struggle for digital human rights and to preserve the current architecture of the net and protect endangered aspects that are vital to it, such as its neutrality and the P2P protocol. What are your feelings on the situation of the Net today?
