Virginia is a study in contrasts where spectacular natural beauty and rich architecture co-exist with a wide variety of cities and towns. Within just a few hours’ drive you can find the Atlantic Ocean, rolling foothills, dramatic mountain vistas and serene valleys. Historic plantations and modern farms abound. There are towns of all sizes and descriptions, some rough and industrial, others historical and charming, still others sleek and ultra-modern. Known as America’s birthplace, Virginia features four centuries of history and architecture with the oldest buildings dating from the mid-17th century, and the newest as modern as today. Looking for any particular time or place? Look in Virginia. It’s probably here.

Richmond and Petersburg Double for Washington, D.C. Have you ever tried to get permission to film in the United States Capitol? How about the Oval Office? Virginia is the answer. Architecture in downtown Richmond doubles beautifully for Washington, D.C. Virginia’s state capitol has played the United States Capitol on numerous occasions, and the surrounding square and government buildings have appeared as Washington, D.C. in numerous films. Pre-and post- civil war townhouses located throughout the Richmond area replicate Georgetown and other metropolitan Washington locations and commercial areas in Richmond and Petersburg have played two centuries of our nation’s capital. Also available is a replica of the Oval Office at New Millennium Studios, Virginia’s full-service film studio. Virginia is the place to look if your project calls for Washington, D.C. locations. For information on the Oval Office call 804.957.4200. For information on Washington locations in Virginia, call 800.854.6233.
